For a finished video, use Restream’s Pre-recorded livestream workflow—not Studio event scheduling. Choose or upload the video, add the event details, enable your YouTube channel, and create the event; Restream says the video starts automatically at the scheduled time. Studio scheduling is for a production you enter and start yourself.
Schedule a finished video as a YouTube live event
- Sign in to Restream and select + New Stream.
- Select Pre-recorded livestream, then choose Video.
- Choose a file already in Uploads or Recordings, or upload one from your computer or mobile device. Continue when it is ready.
- Enter the event title, description, date, and time. Restream also offers optional looping, an advance event post, and a custom thumbnail. Its current guidance says a scheduled video can be looped up to 10 times; check the current event controls when setting it up.
- Continue, turn on the YouTube channel you want to use, and create the event.
- At the scheduled time, the pre-recorded event airs automatically. If you want to monitor chat, open the live event in Restream while it is running.
Restream describes uploads from desktop or mobile and imports through Descript, Google Drive, and Dropbox. It also supports scheduling a single video or a playlist. File-size and storage limits vary by tier or add-on, so check the limits shown for your account rather than relying on older quota figures. Restream’s current pre-recorded event instructions provide the workflow.
Pre-recorded event or Studio event?
The two workflows produce different kinds of broadcasts. Use the pre-recorded option when the source is a finished file and you want it to play automatically. Use Studio scheduling when you intend to enter Restream Studio and start a live production yourself.

To schedule the second type, choose New Stream → Studio, set up the stream, and select Schedule to enter the event details. When it is time to broadcast, open that scheduled event’s card and enter its Studio before selecting Go Live. Entering through the event card matters: it connects the Studio broadcast to the scheduled event. See Restream’s Studio scheduling instructions.

Check that you want a YouTube live event, not a scheduled upload
A scheduled live event is an upcoming livestream listing that viewers can find and, where available, set a reminder for. A standard scheduled YouTube video is an uploaded video set to publish at a chosen date, time, and time zone; it is not a livestream. Choose the pre-recorded Restream workflow if you want the recording presented as a live event, rather than simply published as a regular video. YouTube explains the distinction in its guidance for scheduling video publication and creating a live stream.
Before you create the event
- Verify the destination. Confirm that the intended YouTube channel is enabled before creating the event.
- Double-check the date and time. Restream’s cited event instructions specify date and time but do not establish how its interface handles time zones. Confirm the time shown in your account rather than assuming a conversion.
- Check the account’s upload limits. Storage and file-size allowances depend on the applicable tier or add-on, and can change. Use the current limits displayed for your account.
- Review the event post if you change plans. Restream says an advance post on YouTube or another supported platform is not automatically removed when you unschedule the Restream event. If you cancel or move a schedule, check the YouTube-side post too.
- Allow for destination differences. Restream says the YouTube pre-recorded event starts automatically. Some other destinations can require a manual start; do not assume those exceptions apply to YouTube.
