Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo run Indian music on YouTube for Smart TV viewers, you need two things working together: an encoder that sends a stable horizontal audio-and-video feed to YouTube, and permission for every recording and composition in that feed. Verify and enable your channel for live streaming, test the stream on the TVs your audience uses, and plan for interruptions and YouTube’s archive limits. A 24/7 schedule is an operating goal, not a YouTube guarantee.
What a 24/7 Smart TV music channel involves
YouTube Live can be watched on television screens, but YouTube does not promise an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. The creator-side setup is a live stream delivered through an encoder to YouTube; viewers then watch its YouTube watch page or find it through the YouTube experience on their devices. This is different from merely uploading a playlist, and the encoder does not provide any music or visual rights.
There is an audience for live programming on the platform: YouTube for Artists reported that, on average, over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That platform-wide figure is not specific to India, music channels, or Smart TV viewers, and it is not a forecast for a new channel.
Prepare the channel and decide how to schedule the broadcast
Enable live streaming early
- Verify the YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction that prevents the planned broadcast. YouTube Help’s “Get started with live streaming” says channels must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio before launch. YouTube for Artists’ “Going Live for Music Channels” recommends doing this at least 24 hours before the first planned stream.
- Choose whether to run one long stream or schedule consecutive sessions. If you need a YouTube archive, shorter planned sessions are the safer choice: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its guidance does not establish what happens to an exactly 12-hour stream, so do not design around that boundary.
| Session length | YouTube archive guidance | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Under 12 hours | Automatically archived, according to YouTube Help’s “Archive live streams.” | Schedule sessions clearly below the limit if a YouTube archive matters. |
| Exactly 12 hours | Not stated in the cited YouTube archive guidance. | Do not rely on an exact-boundary session for archive capture. |
| Longer than 12 hours | May not be captured at all, according to YouTube Help’s “Archive live streams.” | Use shorter sessions and make a local recording if you need a backup archive. |
Build a TV-friendly music feed
Prepare the picture and audio
- Use a horizontal master for the main presentation. YouTube for Artists describes horizontal as the traditional live format and notes that more music fans are watching on TV screens.
- Pair the music with visuals you are entitled to use, such as original artwork or a cleared visual loop. Permission for a recording does not automatically cover artwork or other visual material.
- Make channel identity and any current-program information legible from living-room distance. These are design recommendations, not YouTube technical requirements.
- Set the encoder to a format and output that YouTube currently accepts for the selected stream. Match it to the source you have prepared and check YouTube’s current encoder guidance rather than relying on a universal bitrate or resolution figure; the appropriate values depend on the source and encoder.
Create the stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live and configure the broadcast in the Live Control Room. Schedule it there if you want to publish its watch page in advance.
- Copy the stream’s YouTube Live server URL and stream key from the Live Control Room into the corresponding YouTube settings in your encoder. YouTube Help’s “Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder” describes this server-URL-and-key workflow for software and standalone hardware encoders.
- Keep the stream key private: it functions as a credential for sending video to your stream. If it is exposed, rotate it in Studio and update the encoder with the replacement key.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in the Live Control Room. Check the image, sound, and stream status before choosing the intended privacy state and starting the public broadcast.
YouTube documents both software and standalone hardware encoders; neither category is universally best. Choose based on the input and formats your source requires, the restart and failover options you can operate, whether you need a local recording, ongoing costs, and whether someone can respond when something fails.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Test the stream on actual televisions before launch
- Run an unlisted test stream before announcing the channel. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test before a high-investment event.
- Open the test watch page in the YouTube app on representative Smart TVs used by your intended audience. Check that the horizontal image displays as intended, that audio is audible and consistent, and that any on-screen text can be read at normal viewing distance.
- Check the stream from the channel and watch pages and on a mobile device as well. YouTube’s “YouTube live streaming tips” recommends verifying access and monitoring audio and video quality.
- Confirm the privacy setting and intended discovery path before changing the stream to public. A successful encoder preview does not by itself confirm that viewers can find or watch the public page as intended.
Clear the rights for every track before broadcasting
Music rights are not a single permission. YouTube’s “Music Rights Management on YouTube” distinguishes the sound recording or master from the underlying musical work. Different parties may control or administer those interests, including labels, publishers, and collecting societies. A catalogue needs to be checked track by track; there is no basis here for assuming one blanket Indian music-streaming licence covers an unspecified playlist.
- For every track and version, identify the master recording owner and the owner or administrator of the composition.
- Obtain permission for the intended YouTube livestream, territories, duration, visual pairing, and any planned archive or replay. YouTube’s “Livestream terms and conditions” puts responsibility on the provider to secure the necessary rights for use on Google services in the relevant territories.
- Do not assume a personal music-service subscription, a purchased download, or artist credit grants broadcast permission.
- Ask the relevant label, distributor, publisher, or rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist when required for licensed live use. YouTube warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the content.” Allowlisting is a separate operational step; it is not a substitute for a licence.
- Keep a track-level record of the track and version, recording owner, composition contacts, written permissions, territories, term, livestream and archive scope, and allowlisting confirmation.
YouTube’s sources describe the platform’s general rights requirements, not the Indian legal or collecting-society requirements for a particular catalogue and use. Confirm each track’s permissions with the rights holders and qualified Indian counsel before launch.

Run the channel as an operation, not just an encoder session
A continuous schedule needs a way to detect and respond to a dead encoder, network loss, silent audio, rights interruption, or power failure. YouTube’s “YouTube live streaming tips” recommends monitoring quality, checking local archive integrity, and testing encoder failover. Turn those principles into an operating runbook:
- Check encoder output and the Live Control Room preview at launch and on a defined schedule.
- Check both sound and picture on the YouTube watch page, not only inside the encoder.
- Record locally if preserving the programme matters, and verify that the resulting file is intact.
- Test the backup encoder or recovery path before relying on it.
- Assign an operator or alert recipient who can act if the stream stops or rights enforcement interrupts it.
- Plan how scheduled sessions will hand off and how the next watch page will be communicated to viewers.
This is a practical continuity plan, not a YouTube-prescribed 24/7 architecture or an uptime guarantee. Monetization is also separate from continuity: YouTube for Artists describes ads, shopping, and Supers as live monetization features subject to eligibility, but a 24/7 schedule does not guarantee revenue.
