To make a YouTube gaming VOD rerun advance automatically, queue the files in OBS Studio’s VLC Video source. Turn on Loop Playlist only if you want the sequence to start over after its last video. For one VOD, use an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. YouTube’s DVR is different: it lets viewers pause and resume the live stream at their own position; it does not select the next VOD for your broadcast.
If by “resume” you mean the stream should continue playing after a viewer pauses, that is a viewer-side YouTube feature. If you mean your broadcast should move from one prerecorded gaming video to the next, configure the playlist in your encoder.
Choose the playback behavior you want

OBS’s official Media Sources documentation describes Media Source playback and the VLC Video playlist. VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to be available.
Set up a rerun playlist in OBS
1. Prepare the VOD files
Keep the gaming VOD files available as local media files on the computer running OBS. Decide the order before adding them; the order in the playlist determines which video plays next. Check that you have the rights needed to rebroadcast the footage and any included music or other material.

2. Add and order a VLC Video source
- Install VLC if the VLC Video source is not available in OBS.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene that will go live.
- Add the VOD files to that source’s playlist and arrange them in the intended playback order.
- Leave Shuffle Playlist off when the order matters.
- Enable Loop Playlist if the whole sequence should repeat after the last file. Leave it off if the playlist should play through once.
OBS controls which local media is sent by the encoder. YouTube’s playlist loop and Autoplay controls are for viewer playback, not a substitute for an OBS playlist of your selected local VODs.
3. Connect OBS to a YouTube live event
Create or schedule the live event separately in YouTube Studio or the Live Control Room, then connect OBS using the event’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s live streaming settings guidance covers broadcast controls such as auto-start and auto-stop. Those settings govern the event; the OBS media source determines which VOD is being sent. Studio labels and available controls can change, so check the current event settings in your account.

4. Preview the sequence before relying on it
- Confirm the intended scene and VLC Video source are active.
- Check that videos advance in the right order and that the final-item behavior matches your Loop Playlist setting.
- Listen for audio and confirm it is present in the scene.
- Check that the YouTube event is receiving the encoder stream before leaving the rerun unattended.
These checks follow from OBS playback controls and YouTube’s separate encoder setup; they are operational precautions, not a guarantee that a long broadcast will remain uninterrupted.
Repeat a single VOD instead
If the rerun uses only one recording, add it as an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop property. That repeats the same file when it ends; it does not create a multi-video queue. Connect the OBS output to the separately configured YouTube event as described above.

What YouTube DVR does—and does not do
YouTube DVR lets a viewer pause, rewind and continue a live stream from that viewer’s paused position. It does not tell OBS to advance to the next local video. DVR can be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, and some configurations or devices may have lower limits. Viewers also cannot seek to a point before the live stream began. See YouTube’s DVR guidance for the current limitations.
YouTube’s playlist loop control applies when a viewer watches a YouTube playlist. Autoplay may start another related video when one ends, but it is viewer playback behavior—not a dependable way to feed your chosen local VODs into a live encoder.

Copyright and monetization checks for gaming VOD reruns
- Make sure you have permission to rebroadcast the gameplay recording and any music, overlays, voice chat, or other included content. A VOD that was safe to watch on its original platform is not automatically cleared for a new live broadcast.
- Review YouTube’s current rules for live streaming and monetization in your account. A technically working loop does not establish that the content is eligible for monetization or complies with YouTube policies.
- Avoid assuming that repeatedly airing the same footage will qualify as original or monetizable content; assess the actual material and applicable YouTube policies.
