For an uninterrupted channel, plan separate sessions under 12 hours, keep a local recording backup, and use only audio and visuals you have rights to stream. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to activate livestreaming on a channel for the first time, so enable it before launch.
Choose a local Mac mini setup or a cloud stream
A local setup gives you control over the broadcast and can combine camera, audio, and prepared visuals. It also depends on your Mac mini, OBS, internet connection, and power staying on. YouTube lists OBS as an encoder and Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 streams of prerecorded YouTube videos; that listing does not establish comparative reliability or Gyre’s pricing.
For a library-based stream where you upload videos rather than send a live camera feed, StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider: it keeps a YouTube stream running from the cloud, supports uploaded video at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
Check channel eligibility and prepare the Mac
- Enable livestreaming ahead of time. Verify the YouTube channel and confirm it has no active livestream restrictions. YouTube says first-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Check OBS compatibility. Install OBS on a Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later with an Intel or Apple Silicon processor, as specified in the OBS system requirements. Compatibility does not guarantee that a Mac can handle every resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene. Test the exact Mac mini and settings you plan to use; no model-specific Mac mini performance benchmark is established here.
- Prepare a continuous source. Decide whether the broadcast will use a live camera and audio, prepared visuals and a recording, or a combination. Make sure the audio will play continuously and that OBS has the intended sources before scheduling the stream.
- Plan for local continuity. The Mac mini and network connection need to stay running for a local stream. A UPS is an optional way to provide power during brief outages; size it for your equipment and desired runtime rather than assuming a particular capacity is sufficient.
Create the YouTube stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room. Create a stream and locate its server URL and stream key.
- In OBS, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the stream settings. YouTube describes the key as a credential that routes the encoder feed and lets YouTube accept it. Keep it private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start OBS and check the YouTube preview before going live. YouTube recommends starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before an event and checking that the preview is correct. Confirm the right scene, audio source, and stream destination before starting the broadcast.
Set OBS output for a stable devotional stream
Start with 720p or 1080p at 30 fps rather than adding 4K complexity without a clear need. YouTube’s current guidance permits H.264, HEVC, or AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS and recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. These are encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular Mac or connection can sustain the output.

| Output choice | YouTube guidance | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 | 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended, per YouTube’s 2026 encoder guidance | Use a stable upload connection with room above the selected bitrate, then test stream health with the actual scene and audio. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; maximum 4 seconds | Set the interval in OBS’s output or encoder settings. |
| Rate control | CBR recommended | Use a constant bitrate and verify the stream remains healthy during movement and audio playback. |
| Stereo audio | 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps recommended | Listen for clipping, silence, imbalance, or unwanted room noise in the preview. |
Bitrate guidance describes what YouTube can ingest; it does not measure the upload capacity available at your home. Test using representative movement and the actual aarti audio, then monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators before relying on the setup.
Operate the stream in planned sessions
Do not treat a single broadcast as an indefinitely reliable archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a channel intended to be live around the clock, schedule separate sessions that end before the 12-hour threshold, then start the next session. There may be a brief transition while one session ends and the next begins.

- Start OBS and confirm YouTube receives the picture and audio.
- Monitor sound and video quality during the session. YouTube’s live tips also recommend checking the integrity of local archive files.
- Record locally as a backup, and check that the recording file is growing rather than assuming it is being saved correctly.
- End the broadcast before it reaches 12 hours when you want the YouTube archive, then start a new stream session.
A local recording protects against a failed or incomplete YouTube archive, but it is not a substitute for checking the file. Preserve the original recordings and other source assets as well.
Clear rights to the exact aarti recording and visuals
A traditional prayer text or melody does not automatically give you the right to stream a particular modern recording, arrangement, performance, image, or video. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including relevant music rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material; unresolved matches can interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Even licensed third-party material may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your aarti stream can be built from uploaded videos rather than a live camera, StreamNeo runs the YouTube broadcast from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos and can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream.
Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, with 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and StreamNeo team support. Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a livestream | First-time activation is pending, the channel is not verified, or livestreaming is restricted. | Verify the channel, check for restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| YouTube does not receive the OBS feed | The server URL or stream key may be incorrect, or the encoder has not started. | Recheck the URL and key in OBS and confirm the correct stream is selected in Live Control Room. Keep the key private. |
| Stream health is poor or the feed drops | The selected bitrate may exceed sustained upload capacity, or the connection may be unstable. | Test the actual scene and audio, reduce output demands if needed, and monitor stream health before relying on the stream. |
| Audio is silent, distorted, or out of sync | The wrong OBS audio source may be selected, levels may be unsuitable, or the Mac may be overloaded. | Check the selected source and meters, listen to the preview, and test the complete configuration before the next session. |
| The YouTube archive is missing or incomplete | The stream may have lasted more than 12 hours, or archive capture may otherwise have failed. | Use sessions shorter than 12 hours and verify a local recording backup is being created and remains playable. |
| The stream is interrupted over music or video | A third-party content match may lack the needed rights or channel allowlisting. | Stop using material until you have confirmed the rights for the exact asset; arrange any required allowlisting with the rights owner. |
