Yes—a mini PC can run an encoder such as OBS for a continuous Hindu devotional YouTube stream, provided it can sustain your chosen settings and internet connection. The form factor alone tells you little: OBS warns that meeting its compatibility requirements does not guarantee a computer can stream or record successfully. Set up the channel, test the complete system for an extended period, and confirm you have the necessary rights to every recording and visual before relying on it.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- A mini PC running a compatible operating system and an encoder such as OBS Studio.
- The devotional video and audio files you plan to play, plus the rights needed to use them in a live stream.
- A dependable internet connection with sufficient sustained upload capacity for your selected stream bitrate.
- A way to monitor the stream and respond if the encoder, computer, connection, or YouTube interrupts it.
No particular mini PC model is endorsed here. OBS says streaming capacity depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity, so evaluate the exact workload you intend to run.
Set up the mini PC and encoder
Check compatibility, then test the actual workload
OBS’s System Requirements page, published August 25, 2021, lists supported operating systems and graphics requirements, but says compatible hardware does not guarantee streaming or recording capability. Use OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point, not a certification that the PC is ready for unattended, around-the-clock use.
A simple scene with a static devotional image and audio may impose different demands than a production with multiple scenes and effects. That is a practical inference from OBS’s listed workload factors, not a guarantee that a particular mini PC will cope. Keep the scene as simple as your programme allows, then test the complete setup for a prolonged period. Watch for overheating, dropped frames, encoder overload, audio interruptions, and unexpected restarts. These are checks to perform, not reported test results for any specific device.

Prepare the devotional programme
Use your encoder to assemble the source video and audio. Before building a repeating playlist, check that each item has the rights required for this use. A religious subject or a recording being widely available online does not by itself grant permission to broadcast it. Keep a record of permissions for the particular recording, composition, territory, and use, including whether the stream will be archived.
Choose settings your PC and connection can sustain
Video, audio, and keyframes
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS delivery and lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video options, as well as AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. Confirm that your chosen codec is supported by your mini PC’s encoder hardware and software before selecting it.
For one concrete reference point, YouTube recommends a 5 Mbps H.264 video bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps. That is a video bitrate recommendation for that specific resolution and frame rate—not a universal requirement, a mini PC performance result, or the total upload capacity to buy. YouTube lists 128 Kbps as its recommended stereo-audio bitrate. Recommendations vary with codec, resolution, and frame rate.
Choose a resolution and frame rate appropriate to the material and the connection. If the programme is mostly still imagery and audio, a lower setting may be suitable, but it still needs to look acceptable and remain stable on your equipment. Do not assume that a mini PC can encode a particular format simply because it has a video output or meets a basic OS requirement.

Plan for upload headroom
YouTube advises that the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth, recommends leaving 20% headroom, and warns that other users and devices on a shared network can reduce what is available. Measure upload capacity rather than relying on a download-speed result. For the 1080p/30 H.264 example, 5 Mbps of video plus 128 Kbps of stereo audio is about 5.13 Mbps before connection overhead. Leaving 20% of capacity unused means planning for at least about 6.5 Mbps of sustained available upload in that example; allow more for protocol overhead, network variation, and other traffic.

Use a dependable wired connection where practical and limit competing uploads or downloads. Neither a wired connection nor a particular router or internet plan guarantees that the stream will stay up; test the connection under the conditions in which you expect to operate.
Create and test the YouTube Live stream
- Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into your encoder’s streaming settings.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password. Do not share it publicly; if it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Match the encoder settings. Select a supported codec, CBR, a resolution and frame rate your PC can sustain, an appropriate bitrate, and the recommended two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds).
- Run an unlisted or test stream before launch. Check the YouTube preview for both picture and sound, inspect stream-health indicators and messages, and confirm that the intended playlist behaves as expected.
- Monitor a prolonged run. Check for dropped frames, encoder overload, heat, restarts, audio gaps, and network interruptions. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance recommends setting up well ahead of time, previewing before starting, and monitoring audio and video.
A single mini PC and one internet connection are not an uptime guarantee. If continuity is critical, consider a backup encoder and rehearse the handover. YouTube’s guidance describes testing backup rollover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet connection, then checking whether the player switches to the backup.
Clear the rights to bhajans, kirtan, Gurbani, and other content
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the operator; if the content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A copyright strike can also terminate a live stream.
Rights can involve the particular recording as well as the underlying composition and other contributors. YouTube’s livestream terms state that the operator represents and warrants having all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; otherwise, detection can interrupt the stream even when you have a licence.
Keep documentation for the exact recordings and compositions, permitted territories, live use, and any archive or replay. Licensing requirements can depend on the material and jurisdiction; this is a practical clearance checklist, not legal advice or a determination that one licence covers every use.

Understand monetization before building the channel around a loop
A 24/7 stream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its channel-level monetization policies to live streams as well as other uploads. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under its inauthentic-content policy; reused content is assessed separately. Repetitive, interchangeable uploads with little educational, narrative, or other value may not qualify, while materially varied content offering creative, educational, or other value can be allowed. Reused recordings may need meaningful original commentary or substantive modification to make the channel’s contribution clear.
Copyright and monetization are separate questions: permission to stream a recording does not itself establish eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program. Build a distinctive contribution into the channel and check the current requirements and status in YouTube Studio. YouTube makes the channel-level decision; neither hardware nor stream settings can guarantee it.
