YouTube’s documented workflow covers the stream key, ingest settings, copyright checks, and archive limits; the exact FFmpeg command and Windows restart setup for an indefinite loop are not established here, so this guide does not present unverified commands as tested.
What you need before going live
- A Windows computer that can stay powered on, connected to the internet, and running FFmpeg. No specific PC model or minimum specification is established.
- FFmpeg and rights-cleared audio and visuals prepared as a continuous program feed. Validate your FFmpeg version, file paths, playlist behavior, and process recovery in your own environment.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s live streaming setup guidance.
- A stable upload connection able to sustain the selected video and audio bitrate, with room for ordinary network variation.
- Permission for online live transmission of each composition, arrangement, sound recording, image, and video you use.
Prepare the bhajan program and clear its rights
Do not assume a bhajan is free to broadcast because it is devotional or traditional. The underlying composition and a particular arrangement or recording can have different rights holders; recordings, cover art, and video may also be separately protected. Get permission or a license that covers the intended online live transmission, territories, duration, archival replay, and commercial use if applicable. This is a practical checklist, not a legal ruling for a particular song or country.
YouTube’s Live Stream Terms and Conditions say that the streamer warrants having the rights needed to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Read the Live Stream Terms and Conditions and the relevant license terms before broadcasting.
Assemble a continuous program from media you are authorized to use. For a channel intended to remain live around the clock, decide whether it will be one uninterrupted program or a sequence of scheduled blocks. Keep a separate, rights-cleared replay library if viewers need access to past material; do not rely on a perpetual live broadcast to provide a permanent archive.

Set up YouTube Live and the encoder
- Enable live streaming. Complete YouTube’s live-stream activation for the channel and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the live event. Follow YouTube’s current prompts for the event and visibility settings.
- Copy the ingest details. In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding FFmpeg output configuration. YouTube treats the key as the password and address used to connect an encoder; do not publish it, share it, or include it in a public command or screenshot.
- Configure and test the feed. Use a supported video and audio codec, constant bitrate encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval (YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds). Choose a bitrate from YouTube’s current table for your codec, resolution, and frame rate, then confirm your actual upload can sustain it.
- Start the encoder and inspect Live Control Room. Check the preview and stream health before treating the channel as live. Test with audio and movement similar to the intended bhajan program, not only a static image or silent file.
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingestion. Its guidance lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video options, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. Supported bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate; there is no single bitrate that is right for every setup. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings guidance for the current table and match the selected setting to measured upload capacity.
What an FFmpeg-on-Windows workflow must do
FFmpeg can encode and send a live feed, but a 24/7 service also needs a dependable source feed and recovery plan. The documented platform workflow does not establish a verified Windows command for infinitely looping a playlist, nor exact quoting, playlist syntax, Windows service configuration, or automatic restart behavior. Do not copy an arbitrary command and assume it will loop indefinitely or recover from failure.

- Prepare the media. Organize only files you are authorized to stream, and confirm they play through their full duration. Decide how transitions, silence, and the visual track should work.
- Build the continuous input. Select and validate an FFmpeg input or playlist approach against the current FFmpeg documentation. Test file paths and special characters in Windows, and verify that the final item transitions to the intended next item.
- Encode for YouTube. Set a supported codec and resolution, constant bitrate, suitable audio encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval. Use a bitrate your connection can sustain.
- Send to the YouTube stream. Configure the output with the stream URL and private stream key from Live Control Room. Avoid putting the key in publicly visible files, logs, or screenshots.
- Test failure and recovery. Observe the preview and health, then test what happens if the input ends, the network drops, or FFmpeg exits. Configure and verify a suitable Windows or external process-restart method using current documentation; this article does not assert a tested service or scheduled-task recipe.
- Monitor the operation. A local stream depends on the PC remaining powered, the network staying available, the source media being readable, FFmpeg continuing to run, and continued access to the YouTube account.
Choose a broadcast and archive approach
YouTube’s encoder setup help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a guarantee that one continuous 24/7 broadcast will be archived indefinitely or that it will produce a complete replay library. Check YouTube’s current behavior and choose the format around the viewing experience you need.

Copyright, Content ID, and monetization
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A license by itself may not prevent that interruption: the rights owner may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived streams may also receive Content ID claims after they end. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance, and arrange any required allowlisting before going live.

Technical success does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s monetization guidance requires original, non-repetitious content and commercial-use rights for all audio and visual elements. Royalty-free or Creative Commons material may be monetizable when the license permits commercial use, sometimes with credit or proof-of-purchase requirements. Repeating existing recordings in a playlist may not meet originality or non-repetition expectations; assess the channel against YouTube’s channel monetization policies rather than assuming devotional subject matter or a live format makes it eligible.
Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream failures
