To run recorded medical school lectures continuously as a YouTube Live broadcast, send a scheduled feed from a local encoder, a standalone encoder, or a cloud service to YouTube Live. First confirm that the channel can live stream, prepare and clear the recordings, connect the playback method with YouTube’s server URL and stream key, and test the watch page before going public. A normal YouTube playlist does not itself become a continuous live stream.
Choose how the lectures will play
The right method depends on whether you can leave equipment running, need a schedule, and want to manage recovery yourself. YouTube’s encoder guide lists cloud-based 24/7 services and the AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream for scheduling prerecorded media without a computer. These listings establish that YouTube names these options; they do not establish current prices, availability, or comparative reliability.
| Method | What it can do | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Local software encoder | Send an encoder feed from a computer to YouTube Live. YouTube’s HLS guidance lists OBS as an encoder that supports HLS output. | The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available. Encoder capability alone does not establish that it can schedule or loop a playlist; verify the specific playback workflow. |
| Standalone encoder | YouTube identifies the AJA HELO Plus PlayToStream feature for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a general-purpose computer. | Confirm current device availability, supported media, scheduling and looping controls, and how you will monitor or recover the broadcast. |
| Cloud service | YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. | Check the provider’s current terms, supported playback behavior, cost, monitoring, and recovery provisions. YouTube’s listing does not establish those details. |
For a local software setup, confirm that the selected encoder or playback system can actually feed the videos in the desired sequence and loop them. The YouTube documentation describes encoder connections and supported routes, not one universal playlist-loop setting. If your encoder uses HLS, follow its current YouTube preset; HLS has specific transport and playlist requirements described below.
Prepare the channel, lecture files, and rights
Confirm live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions within the prior 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned start.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Organize and check the recordings
- Put the lectures in the intended order and make sure the selected playback method supports the sequence and repeat behavior you need.
- Check that each video has the expected picture and audio, and that titles or lecture context will make sense to viewers arriving partway through a loop.
- Decide whether the broadcast is public, private, or unlisted, and whether viewers need DVR controls.
- Keep a separate local recording if you need a complete archive of a broadcast lasting 12 hours or more. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not promise a complete archive for a longer uninterrupted event.
Clear every asset for broadcast
Confirm that you have permission to broadcast each lecture, slide, image, and soundtrack. Educational use by itself does not establish permission. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the feed with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed material may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. If lectures are intended for learners, explain their intended audience and distinguish educational material from individualized clinical advice; that is a communication choice, not a YouTube technical requirement.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. Set the title, description, audience-facing privacy, and any other event details needed for the channel.
- Open the stream’s encoder settings in YouTube Studio. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the event. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets the encoder send the feed; keep it private. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Enter the connection details in the selected encoder or service. Use the YouTube server URL and stream key, then select the prepared lecture sequence or schedule using that tool’s own controls.
- Configure any protocol-specific settings. Use the encoder’s current YouTube preset rather than guessing values. If using HLS, YouTube specifies 1–4 second transport-stream segments, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no encryption other than HTTPS. HLS typically has higher latency than continuous RTMP because it sends video in segments. These requirements matter only for an HLS feed.
- Start a test feed and inspect YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Check audio, picture, playback order, and whether the event opens as expected from the channel and watch page, including on a mobile device. Confirm that any local recording or archive file is growing as expected.
- Start the public event only after the test passes. YouTube advises setting up encoders at least 2 hours in advance and starting them at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. These are operational recommendations, not guarantees of performance.
Monitor the broadcast and plan for failures
A 24/7 feed needs an operating plan, not just a successful start. Monitor audio and video continuously or use a reliable check process, and decide in advance how you will respond to a failed encoder, power loss, or network outage. YouTube’s guidance recommends testing encoder failover and monitoring the stream. A local setup depends on the computer and connection remaining available; a standalone or cloud route changes what equipment you operate, but you should verify its recovery and monitoring behavior rather than assume it.

- Picture or sound disappears: Check the playback source and encoder output, then confirm the YouTube preview is receiving the feed.
- The stream never appears in YouTube: Check that the correct event’s server URL and stream key were entered. Reset a key that may have been exposed and replace the encoder’s stored value.
- Playback does not repeat as intended: Verify the chosen tool’s schedule and looping controls. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not provide a universal loop switch.
- The live feed is interrupted by a rights match: Review the matched material and permissions. If the content is licensed, ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel through Content ID.
- The full day is missing from the archive: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a complete archive guarantee for a longer event. Use shorter sessions or maintain a separate recording when a full archive matters.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the lectures or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; the service loops the uploaded material and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It does not stream from a camera.
