You can schedule the YouTube event in Switchboard Live, but Switchboard does not store or play your pre-recorded video. To broadcast a playlist, use an encoder that can play the recordings and send them to Switchboard; at the scheduled time, start the feed in the encoder and click Start Streaming in Switchboard. The event is not described as automatically starting playback at the scheduled time.
What you need before scheduling
- A Switchboard workflow and a YouTube destination.
- Streaming software that can play your pre-recorded video and send it as an encoder output. Switchboard names OBS, Ecamm, and Switcher Studio as examples.
- Your recordings and playlist managed in the encoder environment. Switchboard says it does not store pre-recorded videos or archive the source media, and currently supports RTMP ingest. See Switchboard’s FAQ.
Set up the playlist in your encoder, not in Switchboard. Confirm that the encoder can output the video to the Switchboard workflow and that the workflow shows incoming video before you expect to go live.
Create a scheduled event in Switchboard
Switchboard documents two ways to create an event: start from the workflow that will carry the stream, or use the Events Page Manager. Labels and availability may vary with the current account interface.
- From a workflow: open the desired workflow, select Create New, then choose Scheduled Event.
- From the Events Page Manager: open the manager and select New Event.
- Enter the event title, description, start date and time, and an optional thumbnail.
- Add the saved destinations you need, or connect new ones, then save the event.
Switchboard says it creates a shareable event page for YouTube Partner Destinations. Copy the event link from the workflow’s YouTube destination broadcast information or from the YouTube event page. For setup and editing details, see the Scheduled Events guide.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Send the playlist and take the event live
- At broadcast time, start playback of the playlist in your encoder and send its output to the Switchboard workflow.
- Check the workflow to confirm that video is arriving. The Start Streaming control depends on encoder video being present.
- Switchboard’s help guide says the control becomes available at the 30-minute mark before the scheduled event when encoder video is present. When it is available, click Start Streaming to send the broadcast to the destinations in the event group.
The guide also says an operator can start up to 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Switchboard’s current product page says a stream may be started up to six hours after its scheduled time. Since these windows differ across the published materials and may depend on current product behavior, verify the timing in your account before relying on a fixed start window. See the Scheduled Events feature page.
If the YouTube event already exists
If you created the scheduled event in YouTube Studio, Switchboard’s dedicated guide describes using a Custom RTMP destination:

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Create the scheduled event in YouTube Studio.
- Copy that event’s stream URL and stream key.
- In Switchboard, add a Custom RTMP destination.
- Paste the stream URL and stream key into their corresponding fields, then give the destination a recognizable name.
- Send the encoder’s output through the Switchboard workflow and start the broadcast from Switchboard when ready.
The guide says the title and description you enter in Switchboard do not populate a Custom RTMP destination. It also says direct streaming to YouTube scheduled events was unsupported when that guide was written. That statement may be outdated: check the destination options in your account and the current YouTube event guide before choosing this route.
Choose the event workflow that fits
| Workflow | Where the event page is created | Destination and metadata | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switchboard-created scheduled event | In Switchboard, for YouTube Partner Destinations | Add YouTube as a destination; Switchboard’s event details are part of the scheduled-event workflow. | You want to create and manage the event through Switchboard, subject to the options currently available in your account. |
| YouTube Studio event with Custom RTMP | In YouTube Studio | Copy the event’s stream URL and key into a Custom RTMP destination. Switchboard title and description do not populate that destination. | You already created the event in YouTube Studio or your account’s current controls call for the documented Custom RTMP route. |
These are distinct setups; do not assume event editing or metadata behaves identically. Check the current account controls before committing to a workflow.

Edit carefully after sharing the event
Switchboard says scheduled events can be edited from the Events Page Manager or a workflow, including schedule time, title, and destinations. Be cautious about removing a YouTube destination after sharing the event: Switchboard warns that removing a destination can permanently delete that platform’s public event page, break the shared link, and remove Notify Me subscriptions. Check the event’s impact before removing a destination.
Troubleshooting
- No video appears in Switchboard: confirm the encoder is playing the playlist and sending output to the intended workflow. Switchboard requires an encoder to deliver the pre-recorded video; it does not play the file itself.
- Start Streaming is unavailable: check that encoder video is arriving and confirm the scheduled-event timing shown in your account. The help guide ties button availability to incoming video and its stated start window.
- The YouTube event link stops working after a destination change: removing a destination may delete the public event page and invalidate shared links. Check the event before changing destinations.
- Title or description is missing on an existing YouTube event: for the documented Custom RTMP setup, Switchboard does not push those fields to the destination. Manage the event details in YouTube Studio.
- You need the video file later: keep the source recording in your own encoder or media storage. Switchboard says it does not archive the prerecorded source.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping on a YouTube channel without leaving an encoder or computer running at home, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home; video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with no re-encoding or quality tiers. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
