If your Streamlabs Talk Studio YouTube broadcast has no sound, first identify what viewers cannot hear: your microphone, a guest’s microphone, or audio from shared content. Then check the matching Talk Studio control and permissions. These fixes apply to Talk Studio’s browser workflow; Streamlabs Desktop has separate audio controls that should not be assumed to exist in Talk Studio.
First, identify which audio is missing
- Host voice: Check browser microphone permission, Talk Studio’s selected input, and whether you are muted.
- Guest voice: Check whether the guest has been moved from the queue to Show on stream.
- Shared screen, tab, or computer audio: Check the audio-sharing option for the share method you chose, as well as any required operating-system permission.
Test one source at a time where practical. If only one source is silent, concentrate on that source’s path rather than changing unrelated settings.
Fix a host microphone that viewers cannot hear
1. Allow microphone access in your browser
Talk Studio runs in a browser and requests permission to use your devices. If you did not see a permission prompt, use the lock icon beside the browser address bar to review the site’s permissions and allow microphone access. Refresh the page if needed, then rejoin or check the microphone again. Streamlabs lists Google Chrome and Safari among Talk Studio’s supported browser requirements in its Talk Studio getting-started guide.
2. Select the intended input and check mute
In Talk Studio, click the arrow next to Mute and choose the microphone you intend to use. Confirm that you are not muted. If several inputs are listed, selecting the correct device matters: a connected webcam or headset can be selected instead of the microphone you expect.

If the microphone is not listed, check that it is connected and available to the browser, then review the browser’s microphone permission and refresh Talk Studio. The available guidance supports choosing an input device; it does not establish that replacing a microphone is necessary or will resolve every silent-broadcast problem.
Fix a guest microphone that is silent
Make sure the guest has moved from the waiting queue to Show on stream. Streamlabs states: “A guest’s microphone will not sound until they are moved to Show on stream.” If the guest is already shown, have them check that their own microphone is not muted and that their browser or device is using the intended input.

Fix missing sound from a screen share or tab
Enable audio for the share method
When the screen-sharing option offers it, enable Share System Audio or Share tab audio. The wording and availability depend on the sharing method. Selecting a screen or window does not by itself guarantee that its audio is included.
On Mac, grant Chrome screen-recording permission
For screen sharing on Mac, add Chrome under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording. The browser may need to be relaunched before the permission takes effect. Then reconnect the share and enable its audio option if available. Streamlabs’ Talk Studio screen-sharing guide also describes uploading background audio in MP3 or WAV format.

Confirm YouTube is configured as the destination
In Talk Studio, open Profile Picture > Account Settings > Destinations and confirm YouTube is added. In the go-live flow, select YouTube as a destination. A missing or unselected destination is not proof of an audio-routing problem, but checking it helps confirm that the broadcast is being sent where you expect.
If you are actually using Streamlabs Desktop
Talk Studio and Streamlabs Desktop are different products with different controls. Do not treat Desktop instructions as verified Talk Studio fixes. If your workflow includes Desktop capturing audio, its support guidance recommends checking that the relevant mixer source is not muted, reviewing audio-management utilities, checking Windows exclusive-mode settings, and manually selecting the intended desktop audio device. When the Talk Studio checks do not fix it
- Recheck the affected source: Confirm the host, guest, or share is the one that is silent, then revisit only its permission, mute, device, or sharing option.
- Refresh or relaunch after permission changes: Browser permission changes may require a refresh; Mac screen-recording permission may require relaunching Chrome.
- Separate local audio from the YouTube audience’s audio: If Talk Studio indicates the source is active but viewers on YouTube still hear silence, the available Talk Studio guidance does not establish the cause or provide YouTube Studio diagnostics for this exact symptom. Check current YouTube stream diagnostics before changing Talk Studio settings at random.
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio guide lists network upload requirements of 5 Mbps required and 10 Mbps recommended for 720p, and 10 Mbps required and 20 Mbps recommended for 1080p. Those figures concern stream resolution and upload capacity, not a specific audio-routing fault, so they are not the first fix for a silent microphone or share.
