You can run a continuous YouTube channel from recorded drawing lessons by connecting a playlist or video source to an encoder workflow, then keeping playback and the internet connection running—or using a cloud service to handle playback. First verify that the channel can livestream, create the broadcast in YouTube Studio, connect it with the server URL and stream key, and test the viewer experience. For children’s lessons, set the audience designation accurately and plan separately for chat restrictions and incomplete archives.
Choose where the stream will run
YouTube broadcasts use an encoder: software on a computer, standalone hardware, or a cloud service. YouTube’s encoder information describes these options and lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That listing establishes the category, not current pricing, reliability, or suitability for a specific channel.
| Approach | Where playback runs | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A computer you keep running | Playlist looping, restart behavior, network stability, and monitoring. YouTube’s setup requires the encoder’s server URL and stream key. |
| Hardware encoder | A dedicated device | Required video inputs, resolution, network interface, automation, and recovery behavior. YouTube notes that listed encoder products are made by third parties. |
| Cloud service | A provider’s cloud infrastructure | Whether it loops your videos, resumes after interruptions, handles handoffs between lessons, alerts you to failures, and supports your archive needs. YouTube lists Gyre; its listing does not establish those details for every service. |
OneStream Live describes advanced scheduling for prerecorded streams and a made-for-kids option in its help article. Scheduling features alone do not establish uninterrupted 24/7 operation. For any option, confirm what happens when a playlist ends, the connection drops, or a session reaches a platform limit.
Check eligibility before building the schedule
- YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s livestream setup guidance.
- YouTube’s general setup page states that a person must be at least 16 to livestream. Review YouTube’s age requirements and make sure the responsible account holder meets them.
- Decide whether the content is made for kids based on its actual audience and content. Do not choose an audience setting simply to preserve features or increase reach.
Create and test the YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one there. YouTube supports creating and scheduling broadcasts through Live Control Room.
- Copy the connection details. Get the live server URL and stream key from the broadcast setup and enter them in your encoder’s stream settings. Treat the key like a credential: do not show it in tutorial footage or share it publicly.
- Load the recorded lesson source. Arrange videos in the order you want viewers to see them and confirm how the chosen encoder or service handles looping and transitions. Test the end of the playlist and any restart behavior rather than assuming it will continue automatically.
- Start a preview before the scheduled broadcast. Check that the correct video and audio reach YouTube, then inspect the watch page on your channel and on a mobile device. Confirm the event is accessible to the intended viewers.
- Allow time for setup and monitoring. YouTube advises setting up an encoder stream at least two hours before the event and starting encoders at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. It also recommends testing failover where available, checking archive-file integrity where relevant, and continuously monitoring audio and video. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Set the made-for-kids audience setting deliberately
Use the audience controls in Live Control Room to identify whether the stream is made for kids. YouTube’s made-for-kids feature guidance says that when a stream is designated made for kids, live chat, chat replay, Super Chat, comments on live-stream archives and upcoming streams, and reminder notifications are disabled. Personalized ads are disabled, though contextual ads may still appear.

That changes how a drawing lesson can interact with its audience: viewers cannot ask for the next subject in live chat. Make instructions self-contained, label lessons clearly, and use appropriate companion materials if viewers need extra guidance. Do not promise live questions or requests when those features will be unavailable.
Plan for continuity and replays
A 24/7 broadcast and a complete replay are separate requirements. YouTube says broadcasts under 12 hours are automatically archived; its surfaced guidance does not establish that one continuous 24-hour stream will be preserved in full. If a complete replay matters, keep a separate master recording or divide programming into shorter sessions, then test what viewers can actually replay. YouTube’s encoder information is the reference for the under-12-hour archive guidance.

Continuous operation also needs a response plan. Decide who will notice and address a failed source, lost network, stalled encoder, or session limit. YouTube recommends continuous audio and video monitoring, but its guidance does not provide a universal uptime guarantee for every setup.
