Can I stream prerecorded videos live on YouTube?
YouTube supports live streaming through several methods, including an encoder. An encoder can combine cameras, microphones, overlays, and other sources into a composed broadcast. The cited YouTube guidance does not expressly confirm or guarantee a continuous 24/7 prerecorded rerun format, so do not interpret the availability of encoder streaming as approval for every rerun setup. Choose how the rerun channel should work
Scheduled session reruns
A scheduled replay has a clear beginning and end. Give it a title and episode context so viewers know which game or session they are joining. This format is easier to explain to viewers and to organize in an archive.
Continuous loop
A continuous loop can keep a channel’s programming available between new sessions, but it needs clear labeling: say that the footage is prerecorded, identify the session, and explain whether chat is monitored or whether any interaction is live. Plan who will watch for interruptions and how the stream will be restarted if the encoder or internet connection fails. The cited platform sources do not establish guaranteed uptime or how long a 24/7 broadcast will be captured in the archive.

Check that your channel can go live
YouTube Help says a channel needs to be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. It also says creators must be at least 16 to live stream. Check the channel’s current live-stream access before setting a schedule; restrictions and access are channel-specific. These conditions concern live access, not eligibility for ads, memberships, or other monetization features. How do I rerun a board game session on YouTube Live?
1. Prepare the recording and episode details
Choose the session you have permission to show, then decide whether the replay will be scheduled or part of a loop. Prepare an accurate title and description that identify the game and episode and call the footage a replay or rerun. State whether chat is live and moderated. A consistent naming scheme and playlists help viewers find episodes in order.

2. Build a scene that makes the game understandable
For a physical tabletop session, prioritize a stable, unobstructed view of the board, cards, and player actions. An overhead camera mount or tabletop stand may help keep framing consistent, but fit depends on your camera, table, reach, and mounting method; no particular accessory is verified here. In OBS, add a camera as a video-capture source, then position and size it in the scene. Add a host camera only if it does not block the game.
For digital gameplay, add the game feed and, if useful, commentary or a host view. A console may require a capture device to bring its output into OBS. OBS notes that Nintendo Switch-family capture through a capture device requires the console to be docked; Switch Lite cannot be docked for that approach. 3. Make table and commentary audio clear
Place the microphone where it can capture the players without dominating the picture or picking up avoidable handling noise. In OBS, check microphone and game or desktop audio levels together. If game audio competes with speech, reduce it until commentary is easy to hear. OBS’s layout tutorial covers source placement and checking audio levels.
4. Configure the encoder and rehearse
In OBS, add the camera, capture device, and audio sources you need; configure audio and output; then connect the broadcast to YouTube using the stream setup shown in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s live setup offers encoder streaming; follow the current Studio prompts for the stream key and destination rather than sharing the key publicly. OBS’s Quick Start guide recommends testing settings before the first stream.

Rehearse privately or in another suitable test setup. Check framing, focus, glare on the board, microphone audibility, dropped frames, scene changes, and the opening and ending slate. These tabletop checks are production precautions, not platform requirements. Do not assume a local encoder or home internet connection will recover automatically after a failure.
5. Monitor the broadcast and review the archive
Assign someone to monitor a continuous broadcast, watch for connection or encoder failures, and respond to chat if the channel presents itself as a live gathering. After each broadcast, inspect the archive and YouTube Studio for claims or other notices. A stream that ran to the end without interruption is not proof that its archive is free of claims.

Will music or game art cause a copyright claim on a live rerun?
YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the broadcast and prompt a warning; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube also says licensed content may still be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. Once a broadcast ends, its archive can receive a Content ID claim. A board game’s artwork, card text, music, and other material may raise separate rights questions. Whether a particular use is permitted depends on the game, publisher, territory, and use; the platform’s enforcement guidance does not settle those underlying rights. Check the relevant publisher’s current policy and obtain permission where appropriate. If music is not essential, omit it or use music you have rights to use.

Common rerun problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel and check its live-stream access and restriction status in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s documented access conditions include verification and no live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days.
- The board is hard to read: adjust the camera angle and framing so hands, cards, and board state remain visible; check focus and glare during rehearsal.
- Viewers cannot hear the players: check the microphone source and its level in OBS, then lower game or desktop audio if it masks speech.
- The live feed is replaced or interrupted: check YouTube Studio for a copyright warning or other notice. Review the matched material and rights status; a license may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel.
- The archive receives a claim after the stream: review the completed video and its Studio notices. Live continuity does not establish that the archive is claim-free.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: check the encoder and local connection, and have a person available to respond. Do not promise uninterrupted operation or a particular archive duration based on the cited sources.
