How to choose for a documentary channel
Choose OBS if avoiding a subscription matters most
OBS removes the software charge, but does not remove the operating cost or work of keeping the stream online. You provide and maintain the computer, power, internet connection and stream configuration. The reviewed official sources do not specify a minimum computer requirement or calculate electricity and hardware costs, so estimate those for your setup rather than assuming the total cost is zero. Choose a cloud service if you do not want a home computer running
Compare each service’s price against the number of simultaneous streams you need, then check quality, storage, playlist behavior, trial restrictions and restart features. A one-stream offer may be inexpensive for a single channel but not directly comparable with a per-stream plan or a plan with different storage and trial limits. Consider Restream for distribution, not automatically for endless looping
