You can run a comedy podcast rerun stream on YouTube by sending a playlist of episodes through an encoder connected to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. First verify the channel and clear the rights; then configure and test the stream, divide long schedules into sessions under 12 hours if you need YouTube archives, and monitor the feed. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and neither continuous uptime nor monetization is guaranteed.
Check channel eligibility and rights before you schedule
YouTube lists channel verification, no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and a minimum streamer age of 16 as prerequisites for going live. Confirm these in the channel before planning an all-day broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guide explains eligibility.
Make a rights inventory for every episode and its video presentation. Podcast distribution permission does not necessarily cover streaming the recording on YouTube. Check rights for the spoken material, music beds and theme music, guest clips, artwork, and any embedded sponsor or advertising material. Keep licenses and permissions accessible. If you have a license for material that YouTube identifies through Content ID, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted material. It may show a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the match remains. A claim can also be made against an archived stream after it ends. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Build a playlist that works as a continuous program
Arrange the episodes in a deliberate order rather than relying on a random shuffle. Consider episode length, recurring characters or segments, and whether a listener joining midway can follow the show. A concise now-playing card or episode label helps viewers identify what they are hearing; make sure any displayed artwork is cleared for this use.
Reruns are still subject to YouTube’s channel-level monetization policies. Make the show’s authorship and the value of the programming clear in the stream title, description, and channel presentation. YouTube says reused material may be ineligible for monetization if it lacks significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. A playlist, overlay, or license does not by itself guarantee approval.
Create the live event and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream. Scheduling lets you promote the event and gives viewers the option to set a reminder.
- Copy the connection details. In the event’s stream settings, copy the stream server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send video to your channel. Reset it in YouTube Studio if you think it has been exposed.
- Load the episode playlist. Configure the encoder or playback system to send the episodes in sequence and repeat them if the schedule calls for looping. Confirm that the audio does not go silent or clip at episode boundaries.
- Wait for the preview. Start sending the encoder feed, then inspect the Live Control Room preview for the correct picture, audio, and event. For a scheduled event, click Go Live when the preview is ready.
- Check the public player. Open the stream from another device or browser, preferably on a separate network, to confirm that the audience view is working.
Menu labels can change, but YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover the Live Control Room workflow.

Choose encoder settings your connection can sustain
Use an encoder that supports YouTube’s delivery protocol and a codec compatible with your chosen settings. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS delivery and H.264, H.265, and AV1 options, though support varies by protocol and encoder. It recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery, constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 frames per second, and a 2-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed 4 seconds. Set only options your encoder actually supports.

| Codec | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| AV1 or H.265 | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s platform recommendations for 1080p30, not proof that a connection can sustain the stream reliably. Choose a bitrate and resolution your upload can maintain over time, and leave at least 20% upload headroom. Measure upload capacity, not just download speed; allow extra capacity if you plan a backup stream. YouTube’s current live encoder settings and streaming tips provide the relevant technical details.

Test using representative episode audio and visuals before the public event. A mostly static podcast image can hide playback problems, so check transitions, louder segments, and any video clips that appear in the episodes.
Plan the schedule around YouTube’s archive limit
If you want YouTube to create an archive, keep each live session under 12 hours. YouTube states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” That means a 24-hour stream should not be treated as a reliable way to preserve the episodes or the broadcast recording. Keep the original episode files and make a local recording if you need dependable copies.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Schedule approach | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One session under 12 hours | A one-off all-day event where a YouTube archive is useful | Another session needs a planned restart and handoff. |
| Repeated shorter sessions | Daily or ongoing programming where separate archives matter | More events to schedule, and each session needs monitoring. |
| Continuous encoder feed with API-managed broadcast events | Technical teams managing a feed across multiple broadcast events | More implementation and operational complexity; it does not remove archive, copyright, or availability limits. |
YouTube’s developer documentation describes a 24/7 broadcast use case and distinguishes a broadcast event (the viewer-facing video) from the encoder’s stream feed. That describes a possible architecture, not guaranteed service continuity. For most creators, scheduled shorter events and a planned handoff are simpler. See YouTube’s Live Streaming API broadcast documentation and its archive guidance.

Monitor the feed and preserve a backup
- Watch stream health: Check the Live Control Room for warnings and confirm that the outgoing feed remains connected.
- Listen to the program: Monitor audio from the audience-facing player for dropouts, clipping, silence between episodes, and unexpectedly loud transitions.
- Verify local recording: If preserving the broadcast matters, record locally and check that the recording file is growing. Keep the original episode files separately when you need each episode available as its own file.
- Plan human or alert-based coverage: Assign someone to respond to interruptions or arrange a way to notice them promptly. Have a restart and event-handoff plan rather than assuming the feed will remain online.
YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Its streaming tips also cover network and backup planning.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Understand reruns, ads, and monetization
Owning or licensing an episode does not guarantee that the channel will qualify for YouTube monetization. The reused-content and inauthentic-content rules apply at the channel level, including to live streams. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under the existing policy; YouTube said the reused-content policy did not change. Reviewers may consider videos, channel descriptions, titles, and video descriptions. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Live ad controls are subject to channel status and YouTube’s rules. YouTube documents an optional Elgato Stream Deck plugin workflow for inserting live ads; it is an accessory for operators managing ad breaks, not a requirement for streaming. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

Troubleshoot common failures
The Live Control Room has no preview
- Check that the encoder is using the correct server URL and stream key for the selected event.
- Confirm that the encoder is actively sending and that the channel is eligible to stream.
- If the key may have been exposed or copied incorrectly, reset it in Studio and update the encoder.
The stream buffers, drops, or reports poor health
- Compare the encoder bitrate with sustained upload capacity. Reduce bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot hold the chosen setting, and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
- Check whether other devices or services are consuming upload bandwidth. If you configured a backup stream, include it in the capacity calculation.
- Inspect the encoder’s connection and the stream-health indicators in Live Control Room; test again before restarting the public event.
The stream is interrupted by a copyright match
- Identify the matched music, clip, or other third-party material and remove or replace it if you lack the necessary rights.
- If you hold a relevant license, contact the rights holder about allowlisting your channel in Content ID. Do not assume the license alone prevents a live interruption.
- Review the episode and archived stream for claims after the broadcast ends as well.
The live broadcast has no archive
- Check how long the session ran. A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- For future broadcasts, schedule sessions under 12 hours and record locally if the recording is important.
The show is rejected for monetization or earns no ads
- Check channel eligibility and YouTube’s current monetization status and policy notices.
- Review whether the channel makes its original authorship and added viewer value clear. Repeated material or simple repackaging can be assessed under reused or inauthentic-content rules; permission to use the episodes is not a monetization guarantee.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep an encoder computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos as a YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Each slot includes 10 GB storage pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team.
Every plan has the same features: uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encoding or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly service is $9.99 per month; shorter and longer billing terms are also available. UPI works in India, and cards are accepted in India and worldwide. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera-based live production.
See StreamNeo or compare billing lengths. To try it, start your free first day.
