As of October 3, 2026, they are 15. Their names have distinctive reported family origins, and in 2024 they joined Carey onstage during her Christmas Time tour, playing guitar and drums.
Who are Moroccan and Monroe Cannon?
Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon are the son and daughter of singer Mariah Carey and entertainer Nick Cannon. Carey announced their names after the twins were born on April 30, 2011, according to ABC News. They turned 15 on April 30, 2026.
Why were they named Moroccan and Monroe?
Monroe
ABC News reported in 2011 that Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, whom Carey regarded as one of her inspirations.
Moroccan
The same report said Moroccan’s name came from the Moroccan-inspired decor in the top-floor room of Carey’s New York apartment. That was also the room where Cannon proposed. These are the name explanations reported at the time, rather than independently established etymologies.

What have the twins done onstage with Mariah Carey?
During Carey’s Christmas Time tour in the 2024 holiday season, Moroccan and Monroe joined her onstage and played guitar and drums, the Associated Press reported in April 2025. Asked about the possibility of a family rock album, Carey said, “I would love to. They just have a lot of their own things that they’re doing, and I don’t want to force them to do anything.” Her answer expresses her own approach; it does not confirm an album or indicate what the twins want to do next. Associated Press, April 11, 2025.
What has Carey said about raising the twins with Cannon?
Carey has made separate public comments about the twins’ time with each parent. In remarks from a Harper’s Bazaar interview quoted by The Independent in July 2025, she said they spend time with Cannon and with her, and have a good time with each parent. She added that she wants to be fair because growing up with divorced parents is tough. The Independent, July 2025.

In a separate CBS Mornings segment in September 2025, Carey gave a more guarded response when asked about co-parenting, saying she felt it was best not to talk about Cannon because “he can just be in his own world,” then adding, “No offense to him.” These comments come from different interviews and do not establish the details of the family’s private arrangements.
