Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor church channel managers, the clearest check is YouTube Studio: open Content → Live and look for the sermon under Live Now. For viewers, check the church’s direct watch-page link or its channel’s live area. A scheduled listing, replay, saved video, or chat history does not by itself mean the broadcast is still live.
Check the status as a church channel manager
- Sign in to YouTube Studio with an account that has access to the church channel.
- From the left menu, select Content, then the Live tab.
- Check the categories: Live Now means a current broadcast; Upcoming means scheduled but not started; Live Replay means a stream that has already aired. YouTube’s live-stream management guide describes these categories.
- If the stream should be running, open it in Live Control Room. Check its status and stream-health messages for errors or instructions. A broadcast can be live while its incoming feed has a health problem; status and health answer different questions. See YouTube’s stream health and status guidance.
- If viewers cannot find the stream, check its visibility setting and share the direct link with the intended audience.
Check as a viewer
- Open the church’s direct YouTube watch-page link, or visit the church channel’s live area.
- If the listing says Upcoming, the event is scheduled and has not started. If it is shown as a replay, it has already streamed.
- If you cannot locate the service, ask the church for the correct link. It may be unlisted or private, so absence from public search is not proof that it has ended.
YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted live streams, with different discovery and access behavior. An unlisted or private stream may not be visible to everyone who searches for it. Check YouTube’s privacy settings information for the distinctions.
Clues that can give the wrong impression
- A scheduled listing: Upcoming means the broadcast has not started, not that it is live now.
- A replay or saved video: A Live Replay is a past stream. A church may leave its recording available after the broadcast ends.
- Chat beside the video: Archived streams can retain live chat replay. Chat history alone does not show that broadcasting continues. YouTube explains live chat and chat replay.
- No chat in an embedded player: YouTube live chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players. Its absence in an embed tells you little about current status; use the watch page or Studio instead. See YouTube’s live chat guidance.
- No search result: The stream may be unlisted or private, rather than ended.
- No replay after the event: YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. The archive is not guaranteed, and its absence does not establish whether a stream was live. See YouTube’s archiving guidance.
Keep a church stream running without leaving a computer on
Checking whether an existing sermon stream is live is different from keeping one running. If your church wants uploaded recordings to loop continuously on YouTube, StreamNeo runs the playback in the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card.
Each slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and StreamNeo team support. The plans have the same features; only the billing period changes. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
