YouTube handles the incoming live feed; it does not provide a podcast-archive loop setting in the documented encoder setup. Configure looping in the software or service that plays your files, test the feed in YouTube Live Control Room, monitor it while it runs, and keep an independent recording. YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What you need before going live
The basic chain is episode files → encoder or playout system → YouTube Live. The playout system must be able to repeat the files continuously; the YouTube encoder workflow covers sending a feed, not building or looping a playlist.
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream: it must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Initial live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned start. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
- Podcast episodes and any music or other material cleared for both livestreaming and, if you retain it, the resulting archive.
- An encoder or playout tool that can continuously play the episode files and send an encoder feed to YouTube.
- A reliable outbound internet connection with capacity beyond the feed’s bitrate, plus a local recording or other separate backup.
YouTube supports encoder workflows and says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. Choose a computer, network connection, or managed playout service to match your archive format, intended operating time, monitoring plan, and need for a local copy; the cited YouTube setup guidance does not prescribe a particular model or loop tool. YouTube Help: Encoder setup
Set up the continuous feed
- Enable and prepare live access. Verify the channel and confirm there are no live-stream restrictions. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event.
- Connect your encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the encoder or playout system. Treat the key like a password: use the intended event’s key and do not share it publicly. Follow the selected encoder’s YouTube preset and supported protocol.
- Build the archive loop outside YouTube. Add only the episode files you have cleared, set the playout system to repeat the sequence, and confirm what it does at the end of the final file. Check transitions, gaps, playback order, and whether the tool continues after a file error. The exact controls depend on the software or service; YouTube’s encoder instructions do not specify a playlist-loop procedure.
- Start a test feed and inspect the preview. Send the feed before announcing the event. Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room and confirm that the intended audio and video are present. Open the watch page as a viewer to ensure it is accessible.
- Verify recording and monitoring. Start a separate local recording if your setup supports it, then confirm that the file is actually growing and that audio remains audible. During the run, monitor picture, sound, playout status, and network conditions.
Choose and test the ingest protocol
YouTube documents RTMP/RTMPS encoder workflows and HLS ingest. HLS has higher latency than RTMP and has segment and playlist requirements; YouTube’s guidance does not establish that one protocol is universally better for looping a podcast archive. Use a protocol supported by your encoder’s YouTube preset, satisfy its requirements, and test the complete loop before relying on it. YouTube Help: Use HLS ingest for live streaming

Protect the stream and its recording
Keep an independent copy
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” It also recommends recording a local archive as a backup. For a continuous broadcast, do not treat the YouTube replay as your only copy; retain the original episodes and make a separate recording where feasible. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
Clear rights for every episode and track
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the broadcaster to represent that they have the rights needed to exploit the live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights. A recording’s earlier publication, or ownership of the podcast recording, does not by itself establish permission for a new continuous livestream and its archive. Check the rights for each episode, guest contribution, music track, and other included material. YouTube Terms of Service

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may lead to interruption or termination, and even licensed third-party material may require the rights owner to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Confirm any such requirement with the rights owner before broadcasting. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams
Keep the broadcast reliable
- Use a stable connection and leave outbound bandwidth headroom rather than using all available upload capacity for the stream.
- Where practical, connect the streaming computer by Ethernet. A wired connection can be useful, but no cable or accessory guarantees uninterrupted service.
- Watch the encoder or playout status and the viewer-facing stream. YouTube cautions: “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” YouTube Help: Streaming tips
- Check that the local recording continues to grow and that the audio has not become silent or distorted.
- Before a long run, test a full pass through the episode sequence, including its end-to-start transition and any recovery behavior after a temporary interruption.
Troubleshooting common failures
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No incoming preview | Stream URL or key, encoder connection, or live access activation | Confirm the channel is enabled for live streaming, recheck the URL and key for the intended event, and verify the encoder is sending a feed. |
| Preview appears, but the public watch page is unavailable | Event status or visibility | Check the event in Live Control Room and confirm its schedule and visibility settings before sharing the link. |
| Stream breaks or disconnects | Network disruption or encoder/pl a yout interruption | Check connection stability and available upload capacity, inspect encoder status, and resume the feed using the event’s current stream configuration. Do not assume a network connection prevents interruption. |
| Episodes stop instead of repeating | Loop configuration in the playout software or service | Check that repeat is enabled in the tool playing the files and test the sequence’s end behavior. YouTube’s encoder setup does not control the playlist loop. |
| Audio or video is missing or wrong | Source file, playout output, or encoder configuration | Inspect the source and encoder output in the preview before continuing; verify playback and recording locally. |
| Live content is interrupted for a rights match | Third-party audio or other material and Content ID status | Review the affected content and permissions; ask the rights owner whether channel allowlisting is required. Do not restart with the same material until the rights issue is addressed. |
| Long stream has no complete YouTube replay | Broadcast exceeded 12 hours | Use the separate local recording or source episodes; YouTube says a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live; it does not broadcast from a camera. For a Hindi podcast archive, the workflow is: upload the authorized recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, then go live. The service loops it from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
