Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo run recorded science lessons as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, loop a compiled video or a playlist in an encoder such as OBS, connect it to YouTube through Live Control Room, and keep the computer, power and internet connection available. A loop repeats playback; it does not guarantee that the stream will stay online. You can run the encoder yourself or use StreamNeo to loop uploaded videos from the cloud.
Choose how to organize the lessons
Before configuring a live stream, decide whether to make one long compilation or play individual lesson files in sequence. OBS supports both approaches: its Media Source can loop a file, and its playlist option can loop a sequence. Neither format is inherently better for teaching; choose based on how you expect to update and present the lessons.
| Approach | Lesson order | Updating a lesson | Transitions and presentation |
|---|---|---|---|
| One compiled video | The sequence is fixed in the exported file. | To change an individual lesson, revise and export the compilation again. | Transitions are part of the compiled video. Review the full sequence and make each lesson’s instructional purpose clear. |
| Playlist of individual videos | Arrange the files in the desired sequence in the playlist. | Replace or reorder an individual file without rebuilding one long compilation. | Check how playback moves between files, including audio and any gaps, in a local preview. |
In either case, make sure the videos are suitable to repeat: a stream can return to the beginning of a lesson or playlist at any time, including for viewers who join midway.
Check YouTube eligibility and prepare the stream
- Check the channel. YouTube’s getting-started guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Eligibility and feature availability can change, so confirm the current status in YouTube Studio before preparing a launch.
- Choose encoder streaming. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and use the encoder workflow. Create or schedule the stream there, then use the stream details shown in Live Control Room to connect the encoder.
- Protect the stream key. Use the key supplied for your stream in the encoder configuration. Treat it as a connection credential: do not include it in lesson footage or share it publicly.
- Set the encoder’s video and audio to match your source and YouTube’s current guidance. Resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframe interval and audio settings affect the outgoing stream. The available official guidance for this workflow does not establish numeric settings for a particular computer, source file or connection, so use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations shown for your setup rather than relying on guessed values.
Loop the lessons in OBS
OBS is one way to play the recorded material into the YouTube encoder stream. The playback loop and the live connection are separate: looping controls what OBS plays next, while the encoder and network must continue sending the stream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Create a scene and add a lesson. In OBS, create a scene, add a Media Source and select a lesson file. OBS supports common video formats including MP4.
- Choose the loop method. For a single compiled video, enable the Media Source’s Loop option. For several individual lesson files, use a playlist and enable Loop Playlist so playback starts again after the final item.
- Preview the full playback behavior. Check that the lesson order, audio tracks and transitions behave as intended. Pay attention to the end of one file and beginning of the next, and to what happens when the playlist restarts.
- Connect OBS to the YouTube stream. Enter the stream details from Live Control Room in the encoder configuration, then start the encoder and wait for the YouTube preview.
Test before making the stream public
Use the YouTube preview to catch problems before viewers arrive. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance, checking the stream on the channel and watch pages and on mobile, and monitoring audio and video continuously. If your setup includes a backup encoder, test its failover rather than assuming it will take over correctly.
- Confirm that the picture is visible and the audio is present at a useful level.
- Check that the intended lesson is playing and that the loop or playlist proceeds as expected.
- Open the stream from the channel and watch pages, including on a mobile device, to check the viewer-facing result.
- Only make the stream public after the preview and playback checks are satisfactory.
Keep a self-hosted stream running
With OBS running on your own computer, continuity depends on the computer, encoder, power and upstream internet connection. YouTube recommends leaving upload-bandwidth headroom of 20%; this is a recommendation from YouTube Help, not a guarantee against outages. YouTube also warns that a network disruption can break a stream. A wired connection may be a practical choice where available, but it is optional and does not prevent every interruption.

Plan who will notice and respond if the encoder stops, the computer loses power or the connection drops. The official guidance does not establish a guaranteed maximum broadcast duration or promise indefinite uptime for one encoder session. Monitor the stream rather than treating a looping file as an uptime system.
Choose an encoder you can operate and recover
YouTube supports encoder workflows and identifies software encoders for some use cases and professional-grade hardware encoders for higher production value. It does not prescribe one choice for every prerecorded science lesson stream. Compare the setup against the work you can reliably maintain.

Check rights and monetization policy before scheduling
Clear the rights for every part of the stream
Before going live, confirm that you have the rights needed to stream and archive every lesson and every included visual, music track or other material in the territories where the stream will be available. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for necessary rights, including applicable music rights. A licence to use a clip in a classroom or in an offline video does not by itself establish permission to stream or archive it on YouTube.
Make the educational value of each lesson apparent
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy warns against repetitive or mass-produced content that offers little educational value or variation; it also says reused content needs meaningful original commentary, modification or educational or entertainment value. The policy page records a July 15, 2025 clarification and renaming of “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content.” It says a channel “shouldn’t have content that appears to be produced using a template or where each video doesn’t deliver creative, educational, or other value to the viewer.” That wording concerns monetization eligibility; it does not establish that every repeated stream violates policy.

For a science channel, make authorship and the distinct instructional contribution of each lesson clear. Do not assume that looping lessons will qualify for monetization: eligibility is conditional, and YouTube does not guarantee ad delivery. Eligible channels may have ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships, subject to YouTube’s applicable rules.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and connection to keep an encoder running, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality-based tiers; it also automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly access is $9.99 per month.
