To repeat yoga classes on your own screen overnight, turn on Loop in the YouTube playlist controls. To broadcast prerecorded classes as a channel-originated YouTube Live event, create a stream in YouTube Studio, loop the video or playlist in an encoder such as OBS, and send that feed to YouTube using the stream URL and key. These are different setups: viewer-side Loop does not make your channel live.
Choose between looping playback and broadcasting live
| What you want | Use this | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| Yoga videos repeat on a TV, phone, or computer you control | YouTube’s playlist Loop control | Playlist playback on that device; no channel-originated live event |
| Your channel has a live watch page playing prerecorded classes | A YouTube Live stream fed continuously by an encoder | A live event while the encoder remains connected and sending audio and video |
For private overnight viewing, the playback control is simpler. Choose the encoder workflow when you want viewers to join a live event on your channel.
Loop a yoga playlist for overnight viewing
- On desktop: Open a video in the playlist, expand the playlist panel beside the video, then select Loop. YouTube repeats the playlist during that playback session.
- On mobile: Start playing the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist controls.
- On a TV or game console: Use the Repeat control in the platform’s playback controls. The exact location can vary by device and app version.
This setting affects playback on the device where it is enabled. It does not create a live watch page or send a broadcast from your channel. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos and playlists.
Broadcast prerecorded yoga classes as a YouTube Live stream
1. Confirm your channel can livestream
YouTube’s documented eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable and check access before the night you plan to stream. Refer to YouTube’s live-streaming tips for current eligibility details.

2. Create or schedule the live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room and create a stream.
- To promote it ahead of time, go to Manage → Schedule stream. Scheduled streams can appear as upcoming to subscribers, who may choose Notify me.
- Choose the event’s privacy: public, private, or unlisted. Confirm the intended audience can access it before relying on it overnight.
For the current stream settings and scheduling options, see YouTube’s live stream settings guide.
3. Make the classes repeat in OBS
OBS Studio can loop one file or a list of local media files. Its documented controls are described on the OBS Media Sources page (dated 2022-01-11); check the controls in your installed version, since interface details can change.

Check that each file plays with its intended sound and that the source advances or loops correctly before connecting for the full broadcast.
4. Connect OBS to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, find the stream’s server URL and stream key.
- In OBS’s stream settings, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key, then connect the encoder.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube uses it to tell the encoder where to send the feed and to accept that feed; treat it like a password.
YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the connection process.

5. Check the preview before going live
Wait for the encoder preview in Live Control Room. Check that both video and audio are present, that the event is accessible from the intended channel or watch page and on mobile, and that the classes are playing in the right order. YouTube recommends trying a test live stream and monitoring audio and video quality.
6. Plan for overnight operation
The computer running OBS, its network connection, and the media source all have to keep working for this DIY setup to continue sending a feed. Test the specific computer, connection, files, and event before leaving it unattended; the loop setting alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted overnight broadcast.

Understand long-stream replay and DVR limits
YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; the archive can be found in the Live tab in YouTube Studio. Separately, YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. It does not promise how a stream exactly 12 hours long will behave, so do not treat that boundary as a guaranteed archive or DVR outcome. See the DVR guidance and encoder guide.
- When DVR is available, viewers can pause, rewind, and continue during the live stream; they cannot seek to a point before the stream went live.
- Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older app versions may have lower DVR limits.
- After a live stream ends, a channel may post highlights or a replay as videos on its channel. See YouTube’s live-stream replay information.
Troubleshoot common overnight setup problems
- The playlist repeats on your TV, but the channel is not live: You turned on viewer-side Loop. To broadcast, create a YouTube Live event and connect an encoder that sends the media feed.
- You cannot start a live event: Check channel verification and whether the channel has had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. If livestreaming was just enabled, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours.
- OBS is connected but the event has no picture or sound: Check the selected media source, file playback, OBS audio levels, and the Live Control Room preview before starting.
- A VLC playlist source is missing or will not play: Install VLC, which OBS requires for its VLC Video source, then confirm the files are listed in the intended order.
- The stream stops overnight: Check whether the computer slept, OBS stopped, the network disconnected, or the media source ended instead of looping. Test those components together; do not assume the source loop can recover a broken encoder connection.
- Viewers cannot rewind or find a full replay: Check the stream’s duration and device. DVR can be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours, and automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours, not every longer stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that needs prerecorded classes to keep playing without a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not broadcast from a camera. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
