Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf YouTube’s live-streaming option is missing, check the channel’s eligibility before changing equipment or streaming software. In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Confirm the correct channel is selected, complete phone verification if required, and check for a live-stream restriction. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Check channel eligibility in YouTube Studio
- Confirm the channel. Make sure you are signed in to the Google account and YouTube channel where you expect to stream. If you manage a Brand Account, check that you have the right channel and role selected.
- Open Feature eligibility. On a computer, go to YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. YouTube says this page shows which features are available; eligible features are marked “Enabled.” YouTube’s Feature eligibility help describes the page.
- Complete phone verification if prompted. YouTube requires channel verification for live-stream access. The available verification steps can depend on the channel type: YouTube says a Brand Account owner or manager can verify its channel, while only the owner can verify a non-Brand Account channel. Follow the prompt in Studio or YouTube’s phone verification instructions.
- Check for restrictions. YouTube requires that the channel have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Review Studio notifications and any restriction notices. Do not try to work around an active restriction by streaming from another channel; YouTube prohibits that evasion. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance.
- Wait after first activation. After you turn on live streaming, YouTube says the first stream may not be available for up to 24 hours. If you have only just enabled it, wait before treating the missing control as an error. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming help gives this activation window.
Check whether you are trying to stream from mobile
The 50-subscriber threshold applies to mobile live streaming, not to every way of going live. YouTube’s published mobile requirements include at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and live streaming activated. The computer guidance for webcam or encoder streaming lists channel verification and the absence of recent live restrictions as baseline requirements, without the mobile subscriber minimum.
So, if the button is missing in the mobile app and the channel has fewer than 50 subscribers, that may explain the issue. If you are trying to stream from a computer, do not assume that subscriber count is the cause. Compare the requirements in YouTube’s mobile guidance and computer webcam and encoder guidance.
Check age eligibility
YouTube’s current Help guidance says a person must be at least 16 to start a live stream. It also warns that streams featuring 13–15-year-olds without a visibly accompanying adult can have live chat disabled or face other temporary feature consequences. See YouTube’s live-streaming guidance for the current rules.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose a streaming method only after access is enabled
Once the channel has live-stream access, YouTube supports different workflows, including mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming. A webcam or encoder determines how you produce and send a stream; it does not unlock a channel feature that is unavailable because of verification, age, or policy restrictions. YouTube’s computer streaming instructions explain the webcam and encoder options.
If the button is still missing
- Return to Feature eligibility and verify that you are checking the intended channel, not another channel under the same Google account.
- Look for a verification prompt, restriction notice, or feature status that is not “Enabled.” Resolve the account-side issue shown there rather than reinstalling streaming software.
- If you have just enabled the feature, allow the full activation window before checking again.
- If Studio shows live streaming as enabled, you meet the published requirements, and the activation window has passed, use YouTube’s in-product feedback or support route. YouTube’s public help explains general eligibility but does not promise a resolution time for an individual account.
Or let it run in the cloud
This is for channels that already have live-stream access and want to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream; it will not unlock YouTube eligibility or bypass a restriction. With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running, so nothing has to stay on at home. Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
