Contabo Cloud VPS 10 in India is a documented candidate, not a proven market winner. Its listing specifies 3 vCPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 75 GB NVMe or 150 GB SSD, 32 TB of traffic and a €6.65 monthly price, with an India data center in Navi Mumbai. Before ordering, confirm the total checkout and renewal cost, port speed and transfer conditions; the listing alone does not establish them. Check the current plan listing.
For a 24/7 FFmpeg playlist relay, transfer allowance and sustained upload performance matter as much as CPU and storage. If you only need uploaded videos to play continuously on YouTube and do not need shell-level control, a managed service may be simpler than operating a VPS.
Is Contabo Cloud VPS 10 a good fit?
The available published specifications make Cloud VPS 10 a plausible India-region starting point for an FFmpeg stream, but they do not establish that it is the cheapest Indian VPS or that it will sustain your particular workload. No like-for-like current survey of India-region plans or independent performance benchmark is available here.
| Listed item | Cloud VPS 10 detail |
|---|---|
| India location | Navi Mumbai |
| vCPU | 3 cores |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Storage | 75 GB NVMe or 150 GB SSD |
| Traffic | 32 TB |
| Listed monthly price | €6.65 per month; confirm taxes, checkout total and renewal price with the provider |
| Port speed | Not stated in the cited plan details; verify with the provider |
Contabo’s VPS documentation says vCPU cores are shared and describes a fair-use policy even where there is no default bandwidth cap. A listed core count or port speed is not a sustained-performance guarantee. See the plan listing and Contabo’s VPS documentation and terms before choosing.

Estimate transfer before you buy
A stream that runs all month can use substantial outbound traffic. YouTube’s H.264 encoder guidance recommends 6 Mbps for 720p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p60. At those video bitrates, a 30-day continuous stream sends approximately 1.94 TB and 2.59 TB of video payload, respectively. These are calculations from bitrate and duration, not provider billing estimates; they exclude audio, transport overhead, retries and other server traffic.
Use your actual output bitrate when checking a plan. A higher-resolution or higher-frame-rate stream may use more, and a playlist can contain files with different encoding characteristics. Leave headroom rather than planning to consume the full stated allowance. Confirm how the provider counts traffic, what fair-use terms apply and whether overages or throttling are possible.
Choose settings for the YouTube output
YouTube’s official live encoder guide lists RTMP or RTMPS as streaming protocols, H.264 as a supported video codec, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Its H.264 guidance gives these bitrate figures:

These are YouTube encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a VPS can sustain the corresponding upload. Use the stream destination and stream key shown in your current YouTube Studio account; do not assume a fixed endpoint or key. Keep the key private. YouTube recommends testing with content similar to the intended stream and monitoring stream health while it runs. Its guidance says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” Read YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.
Check whether your FFmpeg workload needs CPU or bandwidth
Relaying already encoded media
If FFmpeg is passing through compatible, already encoded audio and video, the workload is different from encoding every frame. In this case, test the exact playlist and output path: compatibility, sustained upload, reconnect behaviour and transfer use still matter.
Encoding or transcoding
Continuous encoding or transcoding can put much heavier demands on CPU. Whether three shared vCPUs are adequate depends on the source codec, resolution, frame rate and encoder settings. The plan specifications do not answer that question. Test the actual source and intended output before relying on the server for a long-running stream; do not treat a published vCPU count as a benchmark.

Storage and playlist size
Choose between the listed storage options based on the local media and any working space your workflow needs. Keep room for system files, logs and temporary files rather than allocating every available gigabyte to video. If your workflow does not require the media to reside on the VPS, confirm how your chosen setup will access it reliably.
Compare VPS plans on the same basis
Before committing, compare equivalent India-region offers using the same workload and accounting assumptions:
- Total cost: include taxes, checkout charges and renewal pricing, not only the displayed monthly figure.
- Traffic terms: check monthly outbound allowance, fair-use language, throttling and overage rules.
- Network behaviour: verify the port speed and test sustained upload from the server; an advertised port is not proof of stable performance.
- Compute: match the plan to relay versus encode/transcode work, and account for shared CPU resources.
- Region and route: check that the data center is in India and that the route to YouTube is stable for your stream.
- Storage: allow for the files and operational overhead your FFmpeg workflow needs.
- Control: choose a VPS if you need custom FFmpeg commands and server administration; consider a managed playlist service if the goal is simply continuous playback.
When a managed playlist service may be simpler
YtLive advertises cloud operation, a smart playlist engine and monthly tiers with channel, storage and output-resolution limits. StreamSetu advertises 24/7 cloud streaming, playlist scheduling and looping, automatic reconnect, and prepaid per-channel pricing with GST stated separately. These are provider claims, not independent uptime or quality tests. Check each provider’s current plan limits and YouTube integration before relying on it. Neither is a general-purpose VPS for custom FFmpeg jobs.

Troubleshoot before leaving a stream unattended
- YouTube shows a weak or unstable stream: test sustained server upload, compare the actual output bitrate with YouTube’s guidance, and check YouTube Studio’s stream health. A nominal port speed does not prove a stable route.
- The stream exceeds the expected monthly transfer: calculate from the actual video and audio output, then add overhead and other server traffic. Confirm the provider’s counting and fair-use terms rather than assuming the listed allowance is fully usable for continuous streaming.
- FFmpeg cannot keep up with the source: determine whether the command is copying compatible encoded media or encoding/transcoding. Reduce the workload or test a suitable plan against the real codec, resolution, frame rate and encoder settings.
- The video or audio is rejected or plays incorrectly: check codec and container compatibility, use supported H.264 video and AAC or MP3 audio where appropriate, and follow YouTube’s CBR and keyframe recommendations. Test with representative content before relying on the playlist.
- The stream fails after a reconnect: verify the current YouTube Studio destination and key, check FFmpeg’s connection logs and the server route, and protect the key from exposure. Do not rely on a remembered endpoint or key.
Copyright and YouTube policy still apply
A VPS or managed service does not grant rights to the videos or music in a playlist. Use material you own or are authorized to stream, and check the relevant rights before broadcasting continuously. YouTube’s encoder settings guide covers technical delivery, not permission to use content; technical compliance does not settle copyright or channel-policy questions.
