YouTube provides the live-stream connection and preview; whether a particular encoder can loop a file depends on that encoder, so verify the feature in its current documentation before choosing it.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says channels must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. First-time access may take up to 24 hours to activate. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
- A software encoder running on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. Confirm that the specific encoder accepts a prerecorded file as its source and can repeat it. YouTube’s general setup guidance does not establish the controls or repeat limits of any particular encoder.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the encoder’s total stream bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; this is an operational recommendation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- A yoga recording and all necessary rights to its picture, voice, music and other included material, for both the live broadcast and any archived copy.
How to set up the YouTube Live loop
- Enable livestreaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live and follow the channel prompts. If this is the channel’s first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Choose and configure the encoder. Use a computer-based software encoder or standalone hardware. In its current instructions, find how to select a video file as the input and repeat it when playback ends. Set the output to a format accepted by YouTube; YouTube’s referenced troubleshooting guidance specifies H.264 video and AAC audio for proper ingestion in that configuration. The exact encoder controls and supported formats can vary by product.
- Create or select an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go live and create or select the stream in Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there into the corresponding encoder fields. YouTube’s live stream settings guide describes these settings.
- Protect the stream key. YouTube describes the key as functioning like a password and address for the stream. Enter it only in your encoder; do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. Choose the stream’s visibility—public, private or unlisted—and decide whether DVR, auto-start and auto-stop fit your plans.
- Check the rights before going live. YouTube’s live-stream terms require you to hold the necessary rights to exploit the live content and its archive, including music licensing rights. If you use licensed third-party material, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID before broadcasting. YouTube warns that a music license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Test the complete path. Start an encoder test before the planned broadcast. Check the Live Control Room preview, the watch page and playback on a phone; confirm the picture, sound and repeat transition work. A file playing locally does not prove that viewers are receiving a healthy stream. YouTube recommends keeping upload bandwidth above the stream’s total bitrate, with 20% headroom.
- Start at a time that suits your audience. For an India-facing class, use the channel’s audience analytics and the routine you intend to serve—such as a morning practice or an evening session—to choose an initial start time, then adjust based on actual attendance. There is no platform-established ideal hour for Indian yoga viewers.
- Monitor the live broadcast. Keep Live Control Room and the encoder’s status visible during the stream. Check both audio and video periodically, and act on any stream-health warning rather than assuming the loop will run correctly because the source file continues playing.
- Review the archive and channel presentation. Confirm the archived stream plays as intended and that its title, description and class information are accurate. Keep your authorship and original contribution clear across the channel.
Rights, copyright and monetization
Clear music and footage for live and archived use
YouTube states in its Live Stream Terms and Conditions that creators must have the rights needed for live content on Google services, including music rights. Its copyright guidance for live streams says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Do not assume that an otherwise original yoga class makes an unlicensed music bed safe.
Permission and monetization review are different questions
Having permission to use material does not by itself guarantee monetization approval. YouTube’s reused-content policy is separate from copyright and may affect monetization when a channel adds little original value to content created by someone else. The policy applies at channel level; a loop of your own class is not automatically a violation. YouTube renamed its repetitious-content policy to “inauthentic content” on July 15, 2025. Check the current YouTube channel monetization policies before relying on monetization.
Common problems and what to check
- Go Live is unavailable: check channel verification, live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, the streamer’s age eligibility and whether first-time activation is still pending.
- The preview is blank or the stream will not connect: confirm that the encoder has the correct stream URL and current key, that the selected stream is open in Live Control Room, and that the encoder is sending a supported configuration. YouTube’s cited troubleshooting guidance calls for H.264 video and AAC audio in the referenced ingestion configuration. See YouTube’s live-stream error messages.
- Playback stutters or drops: compare the encoder’s total bitrate with available upload bandwidth, not download speed. Reduce the output bitrate if needed and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Test again before the public stream.
- The file ends instead of repeating: confirm that file repetition is enabled in the encoder and that its source mode supports looping. YouTube’s Live Control Room connection does not establish a built-in repeat control; consult the encoder maker’s current documentation.
- Sound or picture is missing for viewers: inspect the Live Control Room preview and watch page, verify the encoder’s audio and video inputs and output format, and check from a second device or network. Do not use the local playback window as the only test.
- YouTube interrupts the stream: review copyright notices and the material being matched. Resolve rights issues and, where applicable, request Content ID allowlisting from the rights holder before restarting.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep a computer and home connection running, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos. Upload the yoga recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud. It does not stream from a camera.
