To loop prerecorded video inside one continuous YouTube Live broadcast, keep your encoder connected and make the loop in OBS: use Media Source → Loop for one file, or VLC Video → Loop Playlist for a sequence. These controls restart source playback; they do not guarantee a frame-perfect, gapless join. To reduce a visible or audible pause, prepare the media so its ending flows into its beginning, then test the entire stream path before going live.
Choose the right kind of continuity
“No gap” can mean two different things: no interruption to the YouTube broadcast, and no noticeable pause when the video content returns to its beginning. Keep the encoder feed and broadcast running to preserve one ongoing stream; separately, shape and test the media boundary to make the repeated content join acceptably. OBS documents loop playback, but does not promise a gapless audiovisual transition for every file or playback route. OBS Media Sources documentation
YouTube Live Redirect is not a substitute for looping within the same broadcast. It hands viewers off after a stream ends to a Premiere or another live stream, and YouTube says viewers may need to wait a few seconds while their screens reload. YouTube Live Redirect guidance
Set up a single video loop in OBS
- Add the file: In your OBS scene, add a Media Source and select the local video file you want to play.
- Enable looping: Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. This repeats the file after playback completes.
- Keep the source and stream active: Leave the scene containing the source active and maintain the encoder connection to YouTube. The loop option controls source playback; it does not reconnect or maintain the YouTube broadcast.
- Check the separate activation setting: Restart playback when source becomes active restarts media when the source becomes visible in the current scene. It is not the same as Loop, which repeats the file after it finishes. OBS Media Sources documentation
Loop a playlist of videos
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and create or select the playlist in the source properties.
- Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the sequence when it reaches the end.
- Install VLC. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- Keep the scene active and the YouTube encoder connection running, just as you would for a single-file loop. OBS Media Sources documentation
| Setup | OBS source and control | Requirement | Boundary to review |
|---|---|---|---|
| One video | Media Source → Loop | Local video file | Last frames and audio should lead naturally into the opening. |
| Several videos in sequence | VLC Video → Loop Playlist | VLC installed; 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS | The final video’s ending should connect acceptably to the first video’s opening. |
Make the restart less noticeable
The loop control starts playback again after completion, but the join depends on the media boundary and playback path. Inspect the end and beginning of the file—or the last and first items in a playlist—in both picture and sound. If the content cuts abruptly, edit the media so the outgoing and incoming moments connect more naturally; a playback setting cannot repair an awkward edit.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Play through the final seconds and opening seconds repeatedly in OBS.
- Listen for silence, a clipped word, music restarting on a beat, or a sudden change in ambience.
- Watch for a black frame, frozen image, abrupt scene change, or other visual discontinuity.
- Test the complete setup in a private or unlisted YouTube live stream and inspect what viewers receive at the restart. A local preview alone does not verify the full encoder-to-YouTube path.
Neither the OBS loop documentation nor the YouTube stream settings promise a frame-perfect join across all files, codecs, or playback routes. Treat the test as necessary rather than assuming that enabling Loop makes every restart seamless.
Keep the broadcast running, and distinguish viewer controls
YouTube’s stream settings identify the stream key and stream URL used by an encoder. Those connection settings are separate from OBS’s source-loop control: looping media does not itself keep a dropped encoder feed or ended broadcast alive. YouTube live stream settings

YouTube DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream. On very long streams, rewind may be limited or unavailable, and viewers cannot seek back to before the stream began. DVR affects viewer playback, not the loop at the encoder’s source. YouTube DVR guidance
Live Redirect instead applies after a stream ends. YouTube says autoplay can move viewers to a selected Premiere or live stream; the feature requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes, and YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere first. It is a post-stream handoff, not a way to hide a restart seam in an ongoing loop. YouTube Live Redirect guidance

Troubleshoot a gap or interruption
- A brief blank, freeze, or pause appears only at the repeat: Check the final and opening frames and audio, then inspect the restart in a test live stream. The media boundary or source transition is the first place to investigate.
- The video plays once and stops: Confirm that Loop is enabled for a Media Source, or Loop Playlist is enabled for a VLC Video source.
- A playlist does not play correctly: Confirm VLC is installed and matches OBS’s architecture; OBS requires 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
- The source restarts when changing scenes, but not at the end: Check Loop. Restart playback when source becomes active is a different control.
- The YouTube broadcast ends or disconnects: Check the encoder’s connection and stream settings, including the stream key and stream URL. Source looping is not broadcast recovery. YouTube live stream settings
- Viewers report that they cannot rewind far enough: That concerns YouTube DVR behavior on a very long stream, not OBS looping. DVR may be limited on very long broadcasts. YouTube DVR guidance
