You can broadcast a prerecorded video as a YouTube live stream by running an encoder on a VPS and sending its output to YouTube Live. YouTube’s Live Streaming API guide even describes a 24/7 channel feed as a use case, but that is not an uptime guarantee: the result depends on channel eligibility, the server and network, your video rights, and YouTube’s policies. This guide covers the do-it-yourself setup and how to assess an India-based VPS without assuming a particular provider or plan is suitable.
What you need before you start
Prepare these items before renting or configuring a server:
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and meets YouTube’s age requirement of 16 or older. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- A video you have the right to broadcast, plus enough disk space and network capacity for your chosen workflow.
- An encoder that can read the video and send a continuous feed to YouTube Live. The exact setup depends on the encoder and operating system; the YouTube documentation cited here does not establish a provider-neutral, tested loop command for a VPS.
- An India-region VPS plan whose sustained outbound traffic, compute, storage, restart options, and total charges fit your workload. No particular provider or plan is established here as suitable.
Plan to administer the VPS remotely and keep its credentials private. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
Choose an India VPS for the actual workload
“India VPS” alone does not tell you whether a plan can sustain your stream. Before buying, get the provider’s current terms and check the following against your intended video and encoder configuration:

- 【AMD Ryzen 7330U】 – The Efficiency-Tuned Powerhouse,AMD Ryzen 7330U (Zen 3, SMT, 4C/8T) in KAMRUI P2 mini PC crushes rivals: Intel i3-10110U (2C/4T, 2019) and N95 (4 efficiency cores, no HT, single-channel memory). Vs predecessor Ryzen 3 4300U (4C/4T): ~50% faster single-core, ~46% multi-core, 8MB L3 cache (vs 4MB). Beats both Intel chips hugely in multi-core, making heavy multitasking, coding, data work smooth at just 15W TDP. High-end power in a cool, efficient box.
- 【AMD Radeon Graphics】– Triple 4K Vision & Fluidity,The integrated Radeon Graphics (based on the modern Vega architecture with 6 CUs) is a visual beast, outclassing the iGPU offerings from both AMD's prior generation and Intel. The Intel UHD Graphics (i3-10110U/N95) struggles with single-channel memory and low execution units, crippling its gaming performance and barely handling basic 4K video without stuttering. While the older Radeon Vega 5 (4300U) was decent, our 7330U's Radeon Graphics (6 CUs) pushes the boundaries, delivering higher graphics clock speeds (up to 1.8GHz) and significantly better rendering capabilities. It can drive triple 4K@60Hz displays with zero lag, edit photos/videos.
- 【Generous Storage & Easy Expansion】The KAMRUI Pinova P2 mini desktop computers comes with 16GB LPDDR4X RAM (higher frequency, lower power) for buttery‑smooth multitasking, and a 256GB M.2 SSD for blazing fast boot‑up, quick file transfers, and no more long loading screens. Two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑A ports (up to 10Gbps – 21x faster than USB 2.0) make data transfers and device expansion a breeze.
- 【USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C: 10Gbps & Versatile Connectivity】The USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C port on the KAMRUI P2 small pc supports 10Gbps data transfer speeds and can also output DisplayPort 1.4 video. Together with Gigabit LAN, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth, you get a fast, flexible, and productive connected environment – wired or wireless.
- Location and route: Confirm the data-center location and consider the network route to YouTube’s ingest endpoint. A location label does not establish the route’s quality.
- Outbound traffic: Ask how sustained egress is billed, whether there are fair-use limits or throttling, and what charges apply if you exceed an allowance. A 24/7 feed sends data continuously, so burst-speed claims are not enough.
- Encoding capacity: If the VPS must encode or transcode video in software, verify that its CPU can sustain that workload. If your encoder can send the source without software re-encoding, the compute requirement may differ. Do not assume a small instance can encode a demanding stream.
- Storage: Ensure there is room for the source file, any working files, and logs. If you plan to loop a file stored elsewhere, account for the connection and the consequences of that source becoming unavailable.
- Recovery and support: Check how you can restart a failed process or server, monitor the feed, and recover remotely. A VPS plan is not itself a tested failover system.
- Total cost: Include the VPS rental, sustained egress or bandwidth charges, storage, backups, and any additional services needed for monitoring or recovery.
Compare plans only after you know the video’s resolution, frame rate, bitrate, whether re-encoding is required, and whether the source will live on the server. Without those details and verified provider terms, a price or provider ranking would be misleading.
Create the YouTube live stream and protect its key
- Confirm eligibility. Verify the channel and check that live streaming is available and unrestricted. YouTube’s general help guidance also states that a streamer must be at least 16.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live, then create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room. The exact controls can vary with YouTube’s interface and channel state.
- Get the encoder details. In Live Control Room, locate the stream settings and copy the stream key and YouTube ingestion URL for the event. Enter those values in the VPS encoder. Do not publish or share the key; reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Use RTMPS when configuring an RTMPS encoder. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP tunneled through an SSL connection and specifies its valid ingestion endpoint on port 443. Use the endpoint YouTube provides rather than assuming an ordinary RTMP URL is encrypted. See the YouTube RTMPS ingestion guide.
RTMPS is a common choice for ordinary user content, particularly when low latency matters. YouTube also documents other ingestion approaches, but their technical requirements are not interchangeable.

Configure the VPS encoder to send a continuous feed
The essential arrangement is a source video available to the VPS, an encoder process that reads it and continues outputting video and audio, and a connection to the YouTube stream key and ingest URL. You can store the file on the VPS or arrange for the server to read it from another location; either way, test that the source remains accessible for the whole run.
- Install and configure your chosen encoder. Follow its documentation for the VPS operating system and set the YouTube ingest URL and stream key in the appropriate fields. The documentation available for this guide does not verify a universal command or exact interface for looping files, so do not copy an untested command into production.
- Set output to match the source and the encoder’s capabilities. Choose resolution, frame rate, audio, and bitrate deliberately. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions; requirements and recommended values can vary by format and quality. Avoid selecting a bitrate or resolution the VPS cannot encode or the network cannot sustain.
- Make looping explicit. Configure the encoder or its playback source to repeat the video, and confirm what happens at the end of the file: playback should return to the beginning without ending the encoder output. Check the transition for black frames, silence, or a pause that might interrupt the feed.
- Run the process under a recovery plan. Use a service manager or another documented process supervisor if appropriate for your system, and arrange monitoring for both the encoder process and incoming YouTube status. Decide how an operator will respond if the process, VPS, source file, or network fails.
- Test the whole path. Start the encoder, confirm YouTube receives the feed, inspect the preview and audio, and verify that looping works. Test your restart and recovery procedure rather than assuming it will work when needed.
YouTube’s API models a broadcast as a distinct video event bound to a stream. Its guide says a stream can be bound to up to three broadcasts and describes a 24/7 channel-feed scenario. That is an API resource-model example, not a promise that one scheduled event cannot end or that all channels have identical limits. See the YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.

Do not apply DASH instructions to an RTMPS setup
YouTube’s separate DASH ingestion guide specifies delivery details for encoder vendors implementing that route, including MPD and initialization-segment timing, separate PUT requests, updates at least every 60 seconds, and a closed GOP around two seconds and under eight seconds. Those are DASH-specific details, not settings every RTMPS user must configure. Refer to the YouTube DASH ingestion guide only if you are implementing DASH.

Start the encoder and use Live Control Room to confirm that YouTube is receiving the feed before making the event public or relying on it as an ongoing broadcast. Listen as well as watch: a video preview alone will not reveal missing or distorted audio.

- Check that the preview shows the intended video and that audio is present and in sync.
- Confirm the stream is accessible in the visibility and scheduling state you intended.
- Watch encoder and server logs for process exits, input-file errors, and connection failures.
- Monitor the live status rather than treating a running process as proof that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.
- Test the recovery procedure, including how to restart the encoder and reconnect it to the event.
YouTube’s general live-streaming tips advise configuring the encoder at least two hours before a stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. These are event-preparation recommendations, not a service-level commitment or 24/7 uptime target. YouTube also advises testing encoder failover; a single VPS should not be treated as uninterrupted availability.
Copyright, reused content, and monetization
Having permission to broadcast a video and qualifying to monetize a channel are separate questions. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. The policy says reused content can be ineligible for monetization even where permission exists if the channel does not add significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. The review is channel-wide, so the broader channel matters, not just one live event. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
On July 15, 2025, YouTube said it was renaming “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify that the policy covers repetitive or mass-produced material; it said the reused-content policy did not change. A looped video is not automatically monetizable, and a license alone does not establish that a channel meets the reused-content standard. Assess the rights to the specific video and the original contribution of the overall channel before broadcasting.
Common problems and practical fixes
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the feed | Ingest URL, stream key, network route, or encoder connection | Confirm that the key and URL match the event, the key has not been reset, and the VPS can reach the selected YouTube endpoint. Check encoder logs and the Live Control Room status. |
| The feed starts but drops | Encoder process, VPS/network interruption, or source failure | Inspect logs and monitoring, verify the source file remains available, and test the process restart and reconnection procedure. |
| Video or audio stutters | Encoder load, output settings, or sustained network capacity | Check whether software encoding is saturating CPU and whether the VPS can sustain the selected output. Revisit the encoder settings against YouTube’s current guidance. |
| The video does not repeat cleanly | Loop behavior at end of file | Test the transition and adjust the encoder or playback source so the output continues instead of ending or pausing. |
| Live Control Room shows an event or stream mismatch | Broadcast-to-stream binding or event configuration | Verify that the encoder is using the details for the intended event and that the event is in the expected state. |
| Monetization is unavailable or at risk | Channel-level originality or policy review, separate from copyright permission | Review YouTube’s monetization policy and assess the channel’s original commentary, modification, and added value; do not assume a license settles monetization eligibility. |
