In Streamlabs Mobile, overlays are added as layers inside a scene. Open Scenes, create or select a scene, then use Layers → Add Layers to add a theme, widget, graphic, image, text, or other available item. Arrange the layers in landscape for the 16:9 stream canvas, then save.
Add individual overlays and widgets
- Open the scene controls. Open the Streamlabs Mobile app menu, tap Scenes, and create a new scene or choose one to edit. Name a new scene and select a premade or custom scene if prompted.
- Open the layer picker. In the scene editor, tap Layers in the upper-right area, then tap Add Layers.
- Choose what to add. Depending on the app and device, available choices include themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items, screen sharing, and stream labels. Widgets can include an Alert Box or Chat Box. Custom items can include an image from your phone, a website link, or custom text.
- Place and size the item. Drag it into position and resize it on the canvas. Use Layers to select or arrange items when they overlap.
- Save the scene. Check the full layout before leaving the editor. If the app prompts you to repeat the arrangement for landscape, do so and save that version too.
Apply a premade theme
- Open Themes from the app menu and browse the mobile theme library.
- Choose a theme and select the scene it should apply to. Review the preview if one is offered.
- Tap Continue, then Apply.
- Inspect the resulting scene. A theme combines a coordinated screen border with themed alert and chat widgets, and applying it may change the existing layout. Drag and resize elements or use Layers to reposition them, then save.
Choose a theme when you want a coordinated look with less manual setup. Add separate layers when you want tighter control over which graphics and widgets appear. You can also start with a theme and adjust its individual layers afterward.
Set up the right canvas orientation
Streamlabs’ editor instructions specify a 16:9 stream output. Widgets can be edited only in landscape mode; if the phone is held in portrait, opening editor mode may switch the editor to landscape so you can place elements on the output canvas rather than in black side bars. Save the layout and follow the app’s prompt to repeat it for landscape if shown.
Theme access and device differences
Streamlabs describes mobile themes as available to Ultra users or through app rewards, so Ultra is not established as the only access route. Check the theme or rewards options in your installed app for current availability. Streamlabs’ Ultra product page listed a starting price of $15.75/month when reviewed on October 3, 2026; subscription pricing and terms can change, so confirm the current offer before subscribing.

Screen-sharing options differ across the reviewed documentation: the editor guide identifies screen sharing as an iOS layer, while a Streamlabs guide dated September 2026 describes Android capturing the screen and broadcasting the camera at the same time. Feature availability and labels can change between app versions, so check the options in your installed app rather than assuming every device has the same controls.
Troubleshoot common overlay problems
- The overlay is outside the visible picture. Reopen the scene in landscape, select the layer, and reposition it within the 16:9 canvas. Avoid placing it in the black side bars visible around a portrait-oriented editing view.
- A theme changed your existing layout. Applying a theme may alter the scene. Review the scene after applying it, then move, resize, or remove layers before saving.
- You cannot find a theme. Theme access may depend on Ultra or app rewards. Check both routes in the app; the available choices can change.
- A screen-share layer is missing. The documented options differ by platform and may change with app versions. Check the installed app’s available layers and current Streamlabs guidance for your device.
