To loop a prerecorded video on YouTube Live over JioFiber, run OBS Studio on a computer connected to your home network, add the video as a looping Media Source, and send OBS to YouTube using the stream URL and private stream key from Live Control Room. For a more predictable local connection, connect the computer to the JioFiber gateway by Ethernet and leave upload headroom above your chosen bitrate. This setup still depends on power, your computer, JioFiber’s service and YouTube’s ingest; it cannot guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel enabled for live streaming. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until broadcast day. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
  • A computer that can play the video and encode the stream continuously, OBS Studio, and the prerecorded video file stored locally.
  • A JioFiber connection with enough measured upload capacity for the stream, plus access to the router or home gateway if you plan to use Ethernet.
  • The stream URL and private stream key created in YouTube Live Control Room. Keep the key confidential; someone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel.

Set up OBS to loop a prerecorded video

  1. Enable live streaming and create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for access to be enabled. Copy the stream URL and key from the encoder setup. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. YouTube: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
  2. Create a scene and add the video. In OBS, select or create a scene, then use the Sources panel’s + button and choose Media Source. Add the local video file and enable Loop in the source properties so it starts again when playback reaches the end. OBS documents common local media formats and this loop option. OBS: Media Sources.
  3. For a playlist, use the VLC source. Add a VLC Video Source, select the files in the desired order, and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for this source. A single Media Source with Loop is simpler when you only need one repeating file.
  4. Choose output settings your machine and connection can sustain. Set resolution, frame rate and bitrate in OBS output/video settings. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of 2 seconds, not exceeding 4 seconds. Use the bitrate guidance for your chosen resolution and frame rate in YouTube’s current encoder settings, and test with the actual video and audio rather than a static screen. YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
  5. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key or connect using the available account flow. If entering details manually, use the stream URL and key supplied by Live Control Room. Do not share or publish the key. If you think it has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room before streaming again. YouTube: Create and manage your stream key.
  6. Start a private test and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS and confirm the feed appears in Live Control Room. Check picture, audio, playback looping and stream health before making the broadcast public or relying on it unattended.

Make the JioFiber connection more dependable

Use the computer’s upload speed—not its download speed—to judge whether it can send the broadcast. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the encoder sends at 5 Mbps, aim for at least 6 Mbps of available upload capacity at the time of streaming. That margin can be consumed by household devices, cloud backups or other simultaneous uploads, so measure under realistic conditions and avoid saturating the connection. YouTube live streaming tips.

When practical, connect the computer by Ethernet to a LAN port on the JioFiber home gateway rather than relying on Wi-Fi. Jio’s gateway instructions identify the LAN port for a wired device connection. A cable can make the link between the computer and gateway more predictable, but it cannot prevent power cuts, JioFiber outages or problems beyond the home. Jio: Connect a device using a LAN cable.

Test and monitor before leaving it on

  • YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting at least 15 minutes early so there is time to check the preview and resolve problems.
  • Watch Live Control Room’s stream health and confirm that both audio and video are present and playing as expected.
  • Check OBS’s dropped-frame statistics. A rising count can indicate an unstable connection to the ingest server or a connection that cannot sustain the configured bitrate.
  • If you need a local recording, confirm the archive file is being written and growing. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is an archive threshold, not a promise of unlimited broadcast runtime.
  • Test what happens if the connection or encoder stops. A looping Media Source repeats the local file; it does not by itself restart OBS, restore the network or reconnect to YouTube.

YouTube recommends testing failover where available and continuously monitoring stream quality. No universal automatic-recovery guarantee for OBS running over JioFiber is established by that guidance. YouTube live streaming tips.

Why the stream disconnects—and what to try

What you see Likely issue What to check
OBS reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health degrades The route to YouTube’s ingest server may be unstable, or available upload capacity may be below the configured bitrate. Check current upload capacity and other household uploads. Reduce the OBS bitrate if capacity is insufficient. If it continues, investigate the gateway, Ethernet cable, computer network adapter or ISP-side conditions.
The stream stops when the computer sleeps, restarts or loses power The encoder is running on the home computer, so it stops when that computer cannot run OBS. Prevent sleep during the broadcast, keep the computer powered and test restart behavior. A loop setting does not restart OBS after a computer failure.
The connection drops despite a wired connection Ethernet only covers the local computer-to-gateway link; the gateway, power supply, JioFiber service or upstream route may still fail. Check local equipment and service status, then contact the ISP if the connection itself remains unstable. A cable or router reboot is not a guaranteed fix.
YouTube receives the wrong video or someone else’s feed The stream key may have been entered incorrectly or exposed to another person. Verify the key in Live Control Room. If compromised, reset it and update OBS with the replacement key.
The video plays once and then stops The Media Source loop option is not enabled, or a playlist is configured without loop. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, or Loop Playlist for VLC Video Source, then retest from the beginning.

OBS notes that dropped frames can be caused by the modem or router, network cable, network card, another device on the network or ISP-side conditions; lowering bitrate may help when upload capacity is the limiting factor, but it cannot fix every unstable path. OBS: Dropped frames and connection issues.

Choose between a home computer, a cloud service and a dedicated encoder

These options differ mainly in what must stay powered and connected at your home. Published materials cited here do not establish a comparable current total cost or service-level guarantee for each alternative, so compare scheduling, monitoring, recovery behavior and dependency on home power and broadband before choosing.

Copyright and channel-policy checks

Before looping a documentary, music, archival clip or other recording, make sure you have the rights or permission needed to broadcast it on YouTube. A stream that plays continuously is not exempt from copyright rules or YouTube’s channel policies. Reused-content and monetization decisions depend on the channel and the material; looping does not itself establish that a video is original or eligible for monetization. Review YouTube’s current policies and the rights for every element, including music, before scheduling a long broadcast. Use the copyright safety checklist as a practical preflight aid.

Can I loop several prerecorded videos instead of one?

Yes. In OBS, use a VLC Video Source with a playlist and enable Loop Playlist; VLC must be installed.
