Choose by framing first: a seated face-camera shot needs less coverage than a full-body or multi-person scene. Then compare how the screen mounts, deploys, and stores.
Choose by the shot you want to frame
Open your camera preview before buying and note the full area behind you that appears in frame, including when you lean or move. The screen must cover that area; a narrow panel can work for a steady, seated webcam shot but leave gaps if you widen the frame or stand up.
- Seated face-camera: A compact pop-up panel or chair-mounted screen may cover the shot while using little floor space.
- Full-body framing: Look for enough height and width to cover the visible background as you move. A small webcam panel is unlikely to be sufficient.
- Two or more people: A broad screen and suitable support are more practical than a compact panel, but require more room.
Do not choose by a product’s nominal dimensions alone: camera angle and distance change how much backdrop is visible. Recheck coverage in the actual camera preview after positioning the screen.

Dimensions, material, and color
Digital Camera World reported Neewer polyester backdrop sizes of 1.8 × 2.8 m, 3 × 3.6 m, and 3 × 6 m, and described the material as 100% polyester (2026). These sizes illustrate the range available in that product line; match any size to your camera framing and the space available to mount it.
Green is a common choice, but some screens are reversible with a blue side. The better color depends on the lighting and scene; neither color is universally superior. Whichever you select, make sure the surface fills the region you want removed and is lit as evenly as your setup allows. A non-reflective fabric can help avoid distracting reflections, but lighting requirements depend on the room and the equipment you already have.

Set up the screen and light it evenly
- Position the screen: Place it behind the subject so the camera sees only the screen wherever you want the background replaced. Check the frame while seated, standing, or moving as appropriate.
- Remove visible creases: Fabric may crease in storage. Smooth or tension it before the stream; a textured or uneven surface can make a clean key harder to achieve.
- Check lighting across the screen: Avoid pronounced bright and dark patches where practical. Keep the subject from casting a strong shadow onto the backdrop, and check for reflections.
- Review the shot: Look at the camera feed, not just the screen in the room. Confirm that the full background area remains covered at the intended camera angle.
An all-in-one kit may bundle studio lights and reflectors, but those are not mandatory for every streamer. Consider a kit when you need the included components; otherwise, assess the screen and your existing room lighting separately.
Apply a chroma key in OBS
OBS’s Chroma Key filter removes instances of a selected color from a source. The filter is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Add it to the camera source, choose green or customize the key color, then adjust the controls while watching the live camera feed.

- Select the camera source: In OBS, select your camera in the Sources list and open its filters.
- Add the filter: Under Effect Filters, add Chroma Key.
- Choose the key color: Set the key color to green or choose a custom color if your backdrop uses a different shade.
- Adjust Similarity: This controls how aggressively OBS removes colors near the key color. Increase it carefully: too high a value can remove pixels you want to keep.
- Adjust Smoothness: This softens the edge of the removed area. Use the camera preview to judge whether the edge looks natural.
- Adjust Spill Reduction: This reduces traces of the key color around the subject’s edges.
- Inspect movement and detail: Check hair, shoulders, and moving edges, not just a still pose. Revisit the controls if the key removes part of the subject or leaves a colored fringe.
OBS documents default values of Similarity 400, Smoothness 80, and Spill Reduction 100 (OBS Project documentation dated 2022-01-12). These are software defaults, not universal recommendations: the right values depend on the screen, lighting, camera, and subject.
Consider a software-only background effect
NVIDIA Broadcast offers AI background removal, replacement, and blur without a physical screen. It is an option only if your computer meets the supported configuration. At the time of the cited NVIDIA page, listed requirements included Windows 10 64-bit, a qualifying NVIDIA RTX GPU (including GeForce RTX 2060 or higher in the listed requirements), at least 8 GB RAM, specified driver versions, and internet connectivity during installation. The page showed version 2.2.0 in one area and linked version 2.2.1 under requirements, so check NVIDIA’s current requirements before installing or troubleshooting a particular version.
