The accuser is Chelsea Lovelace. She refiled her civil lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs under her own name after first filing as Jane Doe, Rolling Stone reported on June 12, 2025. Lovelace said she went public as “an act of release” and a choice of “healing over hiding.”
Who is Chelsea Lovelace?
Lovelace is the woman identified in Rolling Stone’s June 12, 2025 report about a civil lawsuit against Combs. The report says she initially filed the suit on September 27, 2024, using the pseudonym Jane Doe because of the sensitive nature of the allegations and concerns for her safety. She later refiled under her own name.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Lovelace described going public as “not an act of revenge. It is an act of release,” adding that it was “of standing in my truth. Of choosing healing over hiding.” Those words explain her stated perspective; they are not a court’s assessment of the case.
What does her lawsuit allege?
Rolling Stone reported that Lovelace’s complaint described a relationship with Combs that began in late 2020 and continued until September 2024. The complaint alleged sexual assault, pressure to involve other people in sex, and drugging. These are claims made in a civil lawsuit, not established findings of fact.

Lovelace’s statement also described her changing understanding of the relationship, from believing it was real to feeling manipulated and controlled. That is her account as quoted in the report. The available reporting does not establish that a court found the alleged conduct occurred.
Why did she reveal her identity?
Lovelace said she wanted to choose “healing over hiding” and to stand in her truth. She framed filing under her own name as a way to seek dignity and accountability. Her attorney, Joseph Ciaccio, was quoted by Rolling Stone as saying, “Her choice to step forward speaks volumes about her strength and resolve.”

Is this the same person known as “Jane” at Combs’s criminal trial?
No. The AP’s June 5, 2025 coverage of Combs’s criminal trial referred to a witness using the pseudonym “Jane.” That witness is a separate person in a separate proceeding; the name Jane Doe used in Lovelace’s civil case does not identify that trial witness.

The reporting cited here does not establish the lawsuit’s current status or outcome. The Washington Post’s 2025 roundup discussed changes to pleadings, including people named in earlier allegations who were no longer named in an updated complaint in June 2025. That historical snapshot does not verify the case’s status today. Do not treat early descriptions of every allegation or named person as necessarily reflecting the operative complaint.
