There is no best live TV streaming service for every household: the right choice depends on the channels you watch, especially local stations and sports, and the package that carries them. For a U.S. comparison, the current options include DIRECTV, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, Sling TV and Philo. Their prices below are reported on provider pages and a 2026 comparison guide accessed October 3, 2026; packages differ, so these are not like-for-like prices.
Compare the available services and their price anchors
Prices and features can change, and local channel lineups, regional sports networks (RSNs), fees, promotions and add-ons may vary. The figures below are the amounts reported in the cited sources, not a guarantee of the price or lineup at checkout.
| Service | Reported package and price | Features and points to check |
|---|---|---|
| DIRECTV | Genre packages start at $20.99 per month on its comparison page. DIRECTV’s 2026 guide separately lists Signature Entertainment at $89.99 per month. [DIRECTV package comparison; DIRECTV Insider guide] | The comparison highlights unlimited screens, cloud DVR, 4K, curated multiview and regional sports coverage. The guide says streaming plans include unlimited in-home streams, three mobile streams and unlimited DVR. Some packages may have a ZIP-code-based regional sports fee; confirm the package and fee for your address. |
| YouTube TV | Base Plan: $82.99 per month, the regular price shown on its plan page accessed in 2026. The page also displayed a limited promotion; check its end date and renewal price before subscribing. [YouTube TV plans] | The plan page lists 100+ live channels, unlimited DVR, six household accounts and three simultaneous streams. Lineup varies by ZIP code, so use its local channel check. |
| Hulu + Live TV | $89.99 per month with ads and 95+ channels, as reported by DIRECTV’s 2026 comparison guide. [DIRECTV Insider guide] | The guide describes a bundle with Disney+, Hulu’s on-demand library and ESPN Select. Check current checkout terms for stream limits and any add-on charges. |
| Fubo | DIRECTV’s 2026 guide lists Sports + News at $64.99 and its main plan at $88.99, with 190–200+ channels. [DIRECTV Insider guide] | Sports and regional sports coverage may make it relevant, but RSN availability and regional fees vary. These are figures reported by the guide; verify current plan terms with Fubo. |
| Sling TV | DIRECTV’s guide lists Orange at $45.99 and Blue at $50.99. Tom’s Guide reports Select packages from $19.99 and different listed Orange/Blue rates, illustrating that plan and price references may differ. [DIRECTV Insider guide; Tom’s Guide comparison] | Sling describes monthly base plans with add-ons, on-demand content and Freestream, which it says has 600+ free channels. It also advertises one-, three- and seven-day passes starting at $4.99; confirm current availability and included programming. [Sling service and plans] |
| Philo | $25 per month and 70+ channels, according to DIRECTV’s 2026 guide. [DIRECTV Insider guide] | A potential lower-cost fit for entertainment and lifestyle viewing. Check that the channels you require—particularly local broadcasts and sports—are included before comparing its price with broader bundles. |
Choose by channels and household needs, not the lowest entry price
Start with the channels you will actually watch
Write down must-have local broadcast stations, sports channels and any RSNs before comparing plans. Look up your ZIP code in each provider’s channel finder: carriage is not uniform nationwide, and sports rights and regional fees can depend on location. DIRECTV and YouTube TV both direct customers to market-specific checks; other providers’ lineups also need verification before signup. [DIRECTV package comparison; YouTube TV plans]
Make sure you are comparing the same kind of package
A low advertised starting price may be for a narrower genre package, not a full cable-replacement lineup. Compare the recurring price for the package that includes your channels. Put temporary introductory offers beside—not in place of—the renewal price, and add mandatory extras, regional sports fees and relevant add-ons to the calculation.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Match DVR and streams to the people who use them
“Unlimited DVR” does not by itself tell you how long recordings are retained or which programs can be recorded; check current service terms. For the specific YouTube TV Base Plan listing, the cited page states three simultaneous streams and six household accounts. DIRECTV’s 2026 guide reports unlimited streams at home and three mobile streams for its streaming plans. Do not assume another plan has the same limits. [YouTube TV plans; DIRECTV Insider guide]
Count bundled apps only if you value them
Hulu + Live TV may suit a household that will use its included Disney+, Hulu on-demand library and ESPN Select. Treat those services as added value only if you would otherwise want them; a bundle is not a saving simply because it contains more apps. [DIRECTV Insider guide]

Consider short-term viewing separately
Sling’s advertised day passes may be worth checking for a short event or limited viewing period, but verify the pass length, availability and programming before relying on one. Sling characterizes its offering as flexible and without rigid contracts. [Sling service and plans]
Which service might fit your viewing?
- For local and regional sports: Compare the specific DIRECTV or Fubo package available at your address, then verify the RSNs and any regional fee. Neither a broad channel count nor a national plan description confirms local availability.
- For a defined household-stream limit: YouTube TV’s cited Base Plan lists three streams and six household accounts; confirm that its ZIP-specific lineup includes your required channels.
- For live TV plus on-demand apps: Compare Hulu + Live TV’s bundle with your actual app use and the current checkout terms, including stream limits and add-ons.
- For a narrower entertainment-focused lineup: Philo’s reported lower price may be relevant if its 70+ channels include what you watch and you do not need missing local or sports channels.
- For a customizable or short-term option: Review Sling’s base plans, add-ons and pass terms, checking both the actual lineup and the recurring price you would pay.
- For documentary creators seeking a 24/7 YouTube channel: StreamNeo is #1 for this different use case: it loops uploaded videos in the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the first day is free.
These are fit-based comparisons, not a universal ranking: the best plan is the one that carries your channels at an acceptable recurring cost under its actual local terms.
