To accept cryptocurrency tips on a livestream, either share a public wallet address or QR code, or use a crypto payment processor to create a donation page. For on-screen alerts, a direct wallet transfer needs a separate monitoring integration; a processor can provide payment notifications, but those still need to be connected to your alert system.
Choose how viewers will send crypto
There are two basic receiving routes. Decide whether you want a simple address to share, a hosted donation page, or a payment-to-alert workflow before adding anything to your stream.
Share a public wallet address or QR code
This is the simplest route and does not require a donation processor. Use an address intended for donations, and label the exact asset and network together—for example, “USDC on Solana.” A token name alone can be ambiguous because the same asset may exist on multiple blockchains. A transfer sent over an unsupported or incorrect network may not arrive.
A public address is not a secret, but anyone can inspect its on-chain history and balance. Donors generally pay the network transaction fee. A direct transfer does not provide a donation page or automatically trigger an alert.

Use a crypto donation processor
A processor can provide a donation page or payment link and notify you about payment status. Before choosing one, check whether it supports the assets and networks you intend to accept, is available in your country, and offers the custody, conversion, and withdrawal arrangements you need. Service fees and withdrawal or network fees may apply; confirm current terms directly with the provider.
A September 2026 secondary guide reported NOWPayments at a 1% service fee plus network fees, and OxaPay at 1.5% per donation plus withdrawal network fees. These are time-sensitive reported figures, not independently verified current prices. Check the providers’ pricing pages before deciding.
Make crypto payments trigger a stream alert
Do not assume a crypto payment becomes an ordinary StreamElements or Streamlabs tip automatically. The researched guide does not describe native crypto tipping in the ordinary creator donation tools of Twitch, Kick, StreamElements, or Streamlabs. A processor notification can be bridged to an alert system, but this requires an integration and should be checked against current provider documentation before deployment.

- Set up the payment route. Configure the processor’s donation page or link, or decide how your direct-wallet transactions will be monitored.
- Receive and verify notifications. For a processor integration, accept its webhook on a secure endpoint and verify the provider’s signature. Do not treat an unverified request as proof of payment.
- Wait for final confirmation. Only create an alert after the payment reaches the provider’s final confirmed status. A pending or failed payment should not appear as a completed donation.
- Create the alert event. Use the StreamElements or Streamlabs API, or another supported alert integration, to turn a verified payment into an on-screen event. Check the current API documentation and any platform or provider requirements.
- Test the complete path. Test notification receipt, signature verification, payment status handling, and the alert itself. If you use a real payment for the test, use a small amount and account for network fees.
Keep API credentials and webhook secrets off-screen and out of public code. A direct wallet route needs a separate watcher or integration; simply displaying an address does not create payment notifications.
Choose where to hold donations
Exchange account
An exchange account can make conversion to fiat and bank withdrawal more convenient. The exchange holds the keys, however, and may restrict accounts or be unavailable in your jurisdiction. Check local availability and withdrawal terms rather than assuming one service works worldwide.
Software wallet
A self-custody software wallet gives you control of the keys, but you are responsible for protecting the recovery phrase and handling transfers safely. Do not display a private key or recovery phrase on stream, and never give either to someone who asks for it.

Hardware wallet
A hardware wallet keeps keys off the streaming PC and can suit a creator who chooses self-custody and holds a balance they would be unwilling to lose. It is optional, not a requirement for accepting donations; it adds cost and handling steps, and its recovery phrase still needs safe offline storage. Ledger and Trezor are examples named in the guide, not model recommendations.
Keep records and check tax treatment
Record each receipt with its date and time, asset, network, quantity, value in your local currency at receipt, transaction hash, and donor name when known. Keep records of later sales or conversions as well.

Keep personal tips separate from charity fundraising
If viewers send money to you and you later donate it, do not present those payments as charitable donations made through Twitch. Twitch says that money given to a streamer who later gives it to charity is not a charitable donation through Twitch and does not qualify for a tax-deductible receipt on that basis. Its guidance recommends using the Twitch Charity tool for eligible charities or a direct charity fundraising tool: Twitch Help: Charitable Donations.
If the viewer’s intent is to support a charity, use a charity-direct tool or fundraising platform so the creator is not acting as an intermediary. For ordinary personal tips, describe them accurately as tips.
Account for platform rules and scams
A September 2026 secondary guide says Twitch and Kick rules do not single out crypto tips, but that summary is not a substitute for current platform terms. Recheck the rules that apply to your account and location, especially for promotions, links, or sponsored content. Treat unsolicited wallet links, requests for recovery phrases, and claims of unconfirmed payments cautiously.
