To host a safe crypto webinar, secure the meeting, protect attendee information, control what is shared and recorded, and make the session educational rather than a vehicle for investment pressure. Warn attendees that a webinar invitation is not proof that a crypto offer is legitimate: scammers may use online presentations and “personalized help” to build trust before soliciting payments. Check your platform’s current settings, and get qualified legal advice for any specific offering or jurisdiction.
Before registration opens: set the purpose and protect attendee data
Keep the event educational and transparent
Describe what the webinar will cover and avoid directing attendees to unsolicited investment opportunities. Disclose relevant speaker or sponsor conflicts. These are prudent safeguards; requirements depend on the event, offering, audience and jurisdiction, so do not treat this checklist as a complete legal review.
A webinar invitation, professional-looking presentation or offer of personal assistance does not establish that a crypto opportunity is genuine. The CFTC warns that fraud operators may invite people to webinars or offer personalized help during a free trial, then build rapport, seek an initial payment and escalate pressure. Be especially cautious of urgency, promises of guaranteed returns and requests for more money to recover supposed profits or principal. CFTC guidance on digital asset frauds explains these patterns.
Choose a platform by checking its current controls
Before opening registration, review the platform’s current access settings, recording behavior, screen-sharing controls, privacy terms, update process and moderator tools. Features and defaults can change; test the actual account and event configuration rather than assuming a control is enabled. The FTC’s video-conferencing privacy tips date to April 2020, so use them as a checklist, not as confirmation of any vendor’s current features.

Collect only the registration information the event needs, and tell registrants how you will use it. Read the platform’s privacy policy to understand what participant data it collects and whether it shares information with advertisers or other third parties. The FTC guidance is not a complete privacy-law checklist.
Before the session: lock down access and prepare the room
Restrict admission and use fresh credentials
- Set invite-only access. Configure the event so only invited participants can join, where the platform supports it.
- Use a password or unique meeting ID. For recurring webinars, create new credentials for each event instead of reusing old ones. Confirm how the chosen service implements these options.
- Enable admission controls if available. A waiting room or equivalent can let a host or moderator admit expected attendees and remove disruptions. Test the controls in rehearsal; availability and behavior vary by service.
The FTC recommends access controls and unique credentials for recurring meetings. Its privacy tips also advise hosts to understand recording and screen-sharing options.

Update software and rehearse moderator actions
Update the conferencing client through the service’s official channel before the event. CISA likewise includes software updates among its core online safety practices in its Secure Our World guidance. Have a moderator rehearse how to remove a disruptive attendee, stop participant screen sharing and direct people to verified reporting resources. Do not assume these controls work the same way across platforms.
Prepare a clean screen and decide on recording
- Close private documents, messages, password managers and unrelated browser tabs before sharing.
- Share only the presentation window if the service offers that option; otherwise, verify the entire screen is clear before you start.
- Decide whether recording is necessary. If you record, tell attendees before recording begins, explain who can access it and how long it will be kept, and do not rely only on an on-screen recording indicator.
Assume the session could be recorded or shared without participants’ knowledge. The FTC puts the caution plainly: “The safest strategy is to assume you might be recorded and, if possible, avoid sharing private information via video conference.”

During the webinar: present crypto risks without overclaiming
Explain that returns are never guaranteed
Do not describe a crypto investment as risk-free, absolutely safe or certain to profit. The SEC and CFTC identify claims of “high guaranteed returns” and investments with “little or even no risk” as fraud red flags. Their investor alert about fraudulent digital asset and crypto trading websites says: “Claims such as ‘risk-free’, ‘zero risk’, ‘absolutely safe’, and ‘guaranteed profit’ are hallmarks of a fraud.” The CFTC similarly states: “There is no such thing as a risk-free transaction or a guaranteed money-making opportunity.”
Do not collect secrets or encourage rushed payments
- Never ask attendees to disclose wallet seed phrases, private keys, passwords or account recovery codes.
- Pause before displaying a QR code, wallet address or link. Explain what it does and use official domains that attendees can verify.
- Warn attendees to be skeptical of urgency, guaranteed returns and requests for additional “fees” or “taxes” to release supposed gains or recover principal.
- Do not let a Q&A turn into individualized pressure to deposit funds. If a question concerns a particular person’s finances or legal position, direct them to qualified, independent advice rather than making assurances in the webinar.
The CFTC cautions against clicking links or QR codes in unsolicited communications because they may lead to spoofed sites. Its digital asset fraud guidance describes fake fees and taxes in scam scenarios.

Be precise about legal status
Do not tell attendees that all crypto assets are—or are not—securities. The SEC’s March 2026 interpretation addresses how federal securities laws apply to certain crypto assets and transactions; classification depends on the asset and activity. The applicable law can also depend on the specific offering and jurisdiction. Get qualified legal review before presenting a particular product, transaction or regulatory conclusion as settled.

Give attendees official reporting directions and a way to report someone impersonating the event or its speakers. Verify that any reporting links you share lead to the agencies’ official domains.

How to compare webinar platforms
No single platform can be recommended on the evidence here, and no vendor has been tested. Compare the services you are considering on the controls that affect this event:
| What to check | Questions to verify in the current service |
|---|---|
| Access | Can you restrict entry to invitees, use a password or unique ID, and admit participants individually? |
| Recording | How is recording indicated, who can record, where is a recording stored, and who can access or share it? |
| Screen sharing | Can the host restrict sharing to themselves or moderators, and can they stop participant sharing? |
| Attendee data | What information does the service collect, and does its privacy policy describe sharing with advertisers or other third parties? |
| Updates and moderation | How do you obtain updates, remove a disruptive attendee, and manage the room during the session? |
Check the service’s current documentation and rehearse the exact configuration you plan to use. The FTC’s April 2020 tips identify these privacy and meeting-control concerns, but they do not establish the current behavior of particular products.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your webinar includes a pre-recorded educational programme that you want to keep live on YouTube, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option for looping uploaded videos—not a webinar room or a way to broadcast from a camera. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
