YouTube Super Chat lets viewers pay to highlight a message in live chat; Super Stickers let them pay to display an animated sticker. Both are available on eligible live streams and Premieres, and creators must meet YouTube’s eligibility rules and enable Supers in YouTube Studio.
What Super Chat and Super Stickers do
Super Chat and Super Stickers are YouTube fan-funding features for live streams and Premieres. A Super Chat is a paid, highlighted chat message. A Super Sticker is a purchased animated image shown in live chat. Depending on the purchase value, YouTube may pin a Super at the top of chat and display a countdown; the stream or chat can end before the countdown finishes. A purchase does not transfer to another video. YouTube’s Supers overview explains the current feature rules.

How to send a Super Chat or Super Sticker
- Open a live stream or Premiere with visible live chat in the YouTube app or on a computer. Supers are not supported in mobile browsers.
- In chat, select the dollar-sign control. If it is not available, that stream may not support Supers.
- For a Super Chat, choose or enter an amount and optionally write a message. For a Super Sticker, choose a pack and then an individual sticker.
- Select Buy and send and complete the displayed payment steps. On Android, some new purchases may be billed through Google Play; YouTube says this billing change does not affect pricing or cost. YouTube’s purchase instructions and current limits may vary by location and billing method.
What viewers should know before paying
Visibility and pinning
A Super Chat or sticker, the buyer’s channel name, profile picture and purchase amount are public; the channel may also access purchase information through YouTube’s Data API. YouTube shows a preview before purchase. In the mobile app, buyers can disable purchase celebration announcements in settings. Purchase value affects whether a Super is pinned and for how long; pinning is not guaranteed for every amount.
Spending limits and ticker display
YouTube’s Android purchase help states that purchases under $5 USD (or local equivalent) do not appear in the ticker. It also lists a combined spending limit for Jewels, Super Chats, Super Stickers and Super Thanks of $2,000 USD per day and $8,000 USD per week (or local equivalent), and a maximum balance of 120,000 Jewels. These limits and billing details can change and may be localized, so check the current YouTube purchase help page before relying on them.

Refunds, moderation and removed purchases
Super payments are voluntary and non-refundable under YouTube’s purchase details. A viewer can remove a sent Super from chat, but removal does not establish a right to recover the payment. Creators or YouTube may moderate or remove Super messages and stickers that violate Community Guidelines, and moderation or removal does not generate a refund. If a charge was unauthorized, use YouTube’s unauthorized-charge reporting path and contact the applicable billing provider; that is different from requesting a refund because of a change of mind. How creators enable Super Chat and Super Stickers
Check channel and video eligibility
Creators generally need to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), be at least 18, and live in a location where each feature is available. The creator and any multi-channel network must accept and comply with applicable terms, including the Commerce Product Module (CPM) or, for creators who previously signed it, the legacy Commerce Product Addendum (CPA). Feature-specific conditions also apply. The YouTube monetization overview describes YPP access thresholds and features.
YouTube’s fan-funding access thresholds listed in its monetization overview are 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualifying public watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualifying Shorts views in the last 90 days. A higher YPP tier that includes Watch Page ads and Shorts Feed ads lists 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualifying public watch hours in the last 365 days or 10 million qualifying Shorts views in the last 90 days. These are YPP access thresholds, not a guarantee that a specific channel, video or country qualifies for Supers; paid ad campaign views and watch time do not count toward the cited thresholds.

Supers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted or private videos, videos marked made for kids, and videos with YouTube Giving fundraisers. They also require live chat or comments to be on. Premieres can use Supers when eligible. See YouTube’s Supers feature requirements for current conditions.
Turn on the features in Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Earn.
- Select Supers. This tab appears only when the channel is eligible.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted.
- Switch on Super Chat, Super Stickers, or both.

How creator earnings and policies work
YouTube says creators receive the “majority” of Super Chat and Super Stickers revenue, but its cited help information does not state a universal percentage or a complete accounting of variations by location or transaction method. Do not treat a fixed share as guaranteed. YouTube Help describes revenue qualitatively.

Super Chat and Super Stickers are for personal interaction, not crowdfunding or donations. Choose a Super Chat when you want to make a written comment stand out; choose a Super Sticker when the animated image is the interaction you want. Price choices are shown in the local purchase flow, and prominence varies rather than being guaranteed by a single universal rule.

Other YouTube monetization options
Supers are one-time live-chat purchases. Channel memberships instead offer recurring payments in exchange for creator-defined perks; Super Thanks is a paid animation attached to eligible videos or comments rather than live chat. Eligibility and applicable terms differ, so check YouTube’s monetization overview rather than assuming one option suits every channel or earns more.
