Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →A YouTube broadcast can stay marked upcoming when it is still in its scheduled state, when YouTube is not receiving Gyre’s stream, or when the scheduled-stream go-live confirmation has not been completed. In YouTube’s encoder workflow, start sending the stream, wait for its preview in Live Control Room, then click Go live. First check that Gyre is running the intended broadcast and that YouTube shows incoming preview data; the exact cause depends on how the stream was set up.
Check these things first
- Make sure you are viewing the right event. In YouTube Studio, open Live and check the Manage view. Confirm that the upcoming event is the same scheduled broadcast Gyre is configured to start. YouTube’s Live area distinguishes previous, current and upcoming streams. YouTube’s encoder guide describes where to find them.
- Confirm that Gyre has started the stream. Check Gyre’s status and verify that the broadcast is running. If you use manual setup, check that the stream key and RTMP server address entered in Gyre belong to the intended YouTube broadcast.
- Check whether YouTube has a preview. In Live Control Room, look for the stream preview and incoming data. If YouTube shows no preview, investigate Gyre’s running status and the broadcast or connection configuration before trying to complete the go-live transition.
- For a scheduled encoder stream, click Go live. Once YouTube’s preview appears, use the button in Live Control Room to complete the scheduled-stream transition. Starting the encoder alone is not the full scheduled-stream procedure in YouTube’s guide.
- If it still says upcoming, collect the details before asking for help. Note the broadcast URL or ID, Gyre’s reported status, YouTube’s preview and stream-health state, whether you used channel authorization or manual setup, and when the issue occurred. Contact Gyre or YouTube support with those details; the available documentation does not establish a dependable wait time for this exact symptom.
What “upcoming” does—and does not—tell you
“Upcoming” is a viewer-facing broadcast lifecycle label. It does not, by itself, tell you whether Gyre has started sending data or whether YouTube has received it. Use Live Control Room’s preview and stream diagnostics to separate an ingestion problem from an uncompleted scheduled-stream transition.
Google’s LiveStreams API documentation defines stream and health states that can help with that distinction:
- Stream status: active means YouTube is receiving data; inactive means it is not. ready means valid CDN settings exist, while created means the stream exists but lacks valid CDN settings. error indicates a stream error.
- Health status: good, ok and bad report health conditions; noData means YouTube has no information about the stream’s health.
These API statuses are not synonyms for the viewer-facing word “upcoming.” They are evidence about stream setup, incoming data and health, so read them alongside the broadcast state and preview.

Identify how Gyre was connected
Gyre describes two setup paths. Knowing which one you used helps you check the right broadcast and credentials; neither path alone establishes the cause of a particular upcoming status.
| Setup path | Who creates the broadcast? | How the stream is connected | Where to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube channel authorization | Gyre says it creates the broadcast through the YouTube API and transfers metadata. | Gyre binds a stream key, starts the broadcast and reports status. | Check Gyre’s reported status and the matching event in YouTube Live Control Room. |
| Manual setup | You create or select the broadcast in YouTube. | You copy the YouTube stream key and RTMP server address into Gyre. | Check the key and server details against the intended broadcast, then check Gyre’s status and YouTube Live Control Room. |
These workflow details are described by Gyre’s YouTube API setup article. Gyre also lists channel verification, live streaming enabled and no recent live-stream restrictions as prerequisites for its authorization flow. If authorization setup fails, verify those conditions and consult Gyre’s Help Center.

Common symptoms and next checks
| What you see | What it suggests | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| The event is upcoming and YouTube has no preview | YouTube may not be receiving the stream, or the wrong broadcast or connection details may be in use. | Confirm Gyre is running the intended event. With manual setup, verify the stream key and RTMP address. |
| A preview is visible, but the event remains upcoming | The stream is reaching YouTube, but the scheduled-stream transition may not be complete. | In Live Control Room, click Go live for that scheduled broadcast. |
| YouTube reports inactive or noData | Inactive means no data is being received; noData means YouTube has no health information. | Check Gyre’s status, the selected broadcast and the setup path. Do not treat either label as proof that the event is live. |
| YouTube reports created or error | Created indicates missing valid CDN settings; error indicates a stream error. | Review the broadcast and stream configuration, then share the status and broadcast ID with support if unresolved. |
Gyre describes its service as cloud based, so a computer at home does not need to stay on for a Gyre stream. A local webcam, microphone, capture card or desktop encoder is therefore not the default fix for this particular symptom. Gyre’s guide to streaming pre-recorded video describes its cloud approach.
