You can schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio and set a Live Redirect to send viewers to a Premiere or another live stream when the scheduled stream ends. That is a handoff between events—not a documented recurring schedule or an automatic 24/7 restart system. The steps below work through YouTube’s general workflow; its published guidance does not describe a separate India-specific redirect process.
What a Live Redirect does—and what it does not do
A YouTube Live Redirect sends viewers from your live stream to a selected Premiere or another live stream after the source stream ends. It can help connect consecutive music events, but it does not itself start the next event or keep the original stream running. YouTube’s help pages describe scheduled events and end-of-stream redirects, not an account-level recurring schedule or unattended restart loop.
For an Indian music channel, plan the stream schedule and the redirect as separate tasks: schedule each event, configure its destination, and manage the handoff when the source ends. Do not treat a redirect as proof that a channel will remain continuously live.
Check eligibility before you schedule
- Live streaming: YouTube says your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its general live-streaming guidance says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Sending a Live Redirect: You need more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes to send viewers to another stream or Premiere. If the destination is on a different channel, that channel must permit your channel to redirect to it. See YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
- Destination readiness: If redirecting to a Premiere, set it up before the source stream. Let viewers know they may need to wait a few seconds after the source ends for the destination to load.
Schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- Create the scheduled event. Choose Manage → Schedule stream. Create a new stream or reuse settings from an earlier one. Enter the event details, including its metadata and audience settings, then save. YouTube may show a scheduled stream as upcoming, where viewers can select Notify me. - Set the redirect destination. Open the scheduled stream’s customization settings, go to Redirect, and select Add. Choose a Premiere or another live stream. If it is on another channel, confirm that channel has allowed the redirect.
- Connect your encoder. Configure the encoder to send its feed to the scheduled event. Follow the event’s stream setup details in Live Control Room; the schedule alone does not send video from your encoder.
- Check the preview and start the event. Wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room, check that the picture and sound are correct, then select Go live when ready.
- End the source stream to trigger the handoff. When the originating stream ends, YouTube can direct viewers to the destination you selected. The redirect is an end-of-stream action; it is not a command to start the next event automatically.
Prepare and monitor the stream before airtime
YouTube recommends setting up an encoder event at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before it begins. Use that lead time to confirm the encoder connects, the preview appears, and the stream is ready before you select Go live. Monitor the event rather than assuming a scheduled start or redirect will recover an encoder or network failure. More guidance is available in YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance does not establish a 12-hour scheduling limit or a 24/7 operating method, so it should not be used as a basis for assuming a long-running channel will be uninterrupted.
Plan a 24/7 handoff without assuming automation
If your goal is continuous music programming, map out how each event starts and ends, which Premiere or stream should receive viewers, and who will verify the handoff in Studio. Schedule and test the individual events, and make sure the redirect destination is ready before the source ends. The documented YouTube workflow does not promise recurring scheduling, unattended restarts, or uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

Common problems and fixes
- The redirect option is unavailable: Check that the sending channel meets YouTube’s Live Redirect requirements: more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- The destination is on another channel: Ask that channel’s creator to permit your channel to redirect to it, then confirm the correct destination is selected.
- The event is scheduled, but no video appears: Scheduling does not connect an encoder by itself. Connect the encoder to the scheduled event, wait for the Live Control Room preview, and start the event with Go live.
- Viewers do not see the next event immediately: The redirect happens after the source ends, and YouTube advises that viewers may need to wait a few seconds for the destination to load. Set up a Premiere in advance and tell viewers what to expect.
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Verify the channel and check for live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days before airtime.
- You expected the next event to start unattended: The documented workflow configures a destination for viewers after a stream ends; it does not establish automatic event starts or restarts. Arrange a separate start-and-monitor plan.
