If YouTube Live Redirect sends viewers to the wrong stream, first check the destination saved on the stream they are leaving: in YouTube Studio, go to Content → Live, edit that stream, open Customization, and review Redirect. Correct the destination if needed. If it is another channel’s stream, check that channel’s redirect permission and make sure the target is live or upcoming (or an upcoming Premiere). YouTube’s published guidance does not give a specific fix for a redirect that was confirmed but still sent viewers somewhere else.
Change or verify the redirect destination
- In YouTube Studio, open Content → Live.
- Edit the originating live stream or Premiere—the one viewers are leaving.
- Open Customization and find Redirect.
- Check the selected destination. If it is not the intended stream or Premiere, choose the correct eligible destination and save the change.
Live Redirect is configured on the originating stream, not by changing an encoder or stream key. YouTube says that when the source stream ends, autoplay moves viewers to the chosen live stream or Premiere. YouTube Help: Redirect your viewers
If the intended destination is on another channel
The receiving channel must allow your channel to redirect viewers to its content. Its owner can manage this in YouTube Studio. YouTube describes permission options for channels the recipient subscribes to, all channels, or a manually approved list. The subscribed-channel option depends on subscriptions being public. Check whether the target is eligible and available
YouTube’s TeamYouTube announcement says a destination must be live or upcoming, or an upcoming Premiere, and the receiving channel must permit redirects from the sender. A destination that does not meet those conditions may not appear in the selection flow. The announcement was posted May 3, 2022; treat it as an explanation of destination eligibility, alongside current YouTube Help instructions. TeamYouTube announcement

Confirm that the sending channel is eligible
YouTube Help states that the creator sending viewers to another stream must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is a sender eligibility condition; it is separate from the receiving channel’s permission and the destination stream’s availability. YouTube Help: Redirect your viewers
Allow a few seconds for the destination to load
YouTube advises telling viewers to wait a few seconds after the source ends while their screens reload. A brief transition delay alone does not establish that the redirect destination was wrong. YouTube Help: Redirect your viewers

If the confirmed redirect still goes to the wrong stream
If you verified the saved destination, recipient permission, target availability, and sender eligibility—and the redirect confirmation appeared—but viewers still landed at a different stream, the public guidance cited here does not describe a specific post-confirmation recovery or diagnosis. Report the details to YouTube through the support options available to your account rather than assuming a cause.
- The source stream or Premiere and the intended destination.
- The stream viewers actually reached.
- Whether the redirect crossed to another channel, and that channel’s permission setting.
- Whether the intended target was live or upcoming, or an upcoming Premiere, when selected.
- Whether YouTube showed the end-of-stream redirect confirmation.
YouTube’s separate encoder troubleshooting guidance concerns stream-ingestion errors; it does not identify encoder, stream-key, or network settings as causes of a wrong Live Redirect destination. YouTube Help: Troubleshoot live stream errors
