Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stream a Kannada podcast archive continuously on YouTube with FFmpeg, prepare a media file you are authorized to rebroadcast, loop it with -stream_loop -1, pace playback with -re, and send it to YouTube Live over RTMPS using the server URL and private stream key shown in YouTube Studio. The command below is a practical starting point, not a guarantee of uninterrupted broadcasting: your host, source file, and internet connection must remain available.
Before you stream the archive
Confirm you have the necessary rights
Check that you have permission to rebroadcast the podcast audio and any music, artwork, clips, or other material included in the archive. The technical setup cannot determine whether a particular Kannada podcast archive is licensed for continuous YouTube streaming.
Check the media and runtime plan
- Identify the source file, its audio and video streams, codecs, resolution, frame rate, and duration. The example below assumes one local file that already contains both audio and video.
- For an audio-only archive, prepare a visual track—such as a still image made into a video—and test it before going live. This workflow does not provide a tested audio visualizer or multi-file playlist recipe.
- If you want YouTube to automatically archive the broadcast, plan to stop it before it reaches 12 hours. YouTube states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” It does not promise an archive for longer streams. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
Set up YouTube Live and get the ingest details
- Enable live streaming. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned broadcast. YouTube’s setup guide
- Open Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream you intend to use and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password: do not publish it in a script, screenshot, chat, or public repository. Anyone with the key may be able to broadcast to your stream.
- Use the current server URL and key together. YouTube provides the ingest details for the selected stream; copy them exactly into the FFmpeg destination. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ordinary encoder streaming. YouTube encoder settings and recommendations
Loop one podcast file with FFmpeg
For a local MP4 containing the archive’s picture and sound, the command pattern is:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "podcast-archive.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 2500k -maxrate 2500k -bufsize 5000k
-g 60 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL/YOUR_PRIVATE_STREAM_KEY"
Replace the filename and the RTMPS placeholder with your actual source path and the current ingest URL/key from YouTube Studio. Never paste a real stream key into a public example or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast.

What the important options do
-rereads the input at its native frame rate so a file is sent at normal playback speed rather than as fast as FFmpeg can process it.-stream_loop -1loops the input indefinitely. Both are input options, so they appear before-i, the input they affect. These behaviors are documented by the FFmpeg command-line documentation.-c:v libx264and-c:a aacencode video as H.264 and audio as AAC. Re-encoding can be useful when the source codecs or parameters do not match the settings you intend to send.-b:v,-maxrate, and-bufsizeset video-rate controls in this example. The displayed values are illustrative starting points, not a universal YouTube preset.-g 60sets a GOP/keyframe interval of 60 frames. Its time interval depends on the source/output frame rate; choose a value that yields a two-second interval, YouTube’s recommendation, and do not exceed four seconds.-b:a 128ksets the example audio bitrate, while-ar 44100sets the audio sample rate. Confirm the result against your chosen stream settings and test it.-f flvselects the output container used for this RTMP/RTMPS-style output workflow.
Choose resolution and bitrate for your actual stream
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS, recommends constant bitrate, and calls for a two-second keyframe interval that does not exceed four seconds. Choose the target resolution and bitrate from the current YouTube table rather than treating the command’s 2500k video bitrate as a recommendation for every resolution or frame rate. Leave enough sustained upload capacity for the stream, including normal variation in your connection. See YouTube’s current codec and bitrate guidance
The command transcodes with H.264/AAC. FFmpeg also supports stream copying, which avoids re-encoding, but the archive’s formats and parameters are unknown here; use copying only if the existing streams are compatible with the ingest settings you select. FFmpeg documentation

Start, test, and monitor the broadcast
- Run the command on the computer that has access to the archive file. Keep that computer powered on, prevent it from sleeping, and keep the file accessible for the duration of the broadcast.
- Wait for FFmpeg to connect and begin sending media. Open the YouTube Live Control Room preview and check that picture and sound are present and that YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream.
- Test first with material whose movement and audio resemble the intended broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health and any messages during the event. YouTube encoder recommendations
- During a long run, monitor FFmpeg’s output, the host, and YouTube’s stream status. A looped command does not by itself guarantee that a process, machine, or network will recover from every failure.
- If automatic replay retention matters, schedule a planned stop and restart before the stream reaches 12 hours; YouTube’s stated automatic-archive condition applies to streams under 12 hours. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Keep FFmpeg running when your own computer is off
The command runs only while its host stays on and connected. One option is an always-on computer you control. Another is a rented VPS or managed server, which can keep the process running independently of your home computer, but requires server access, storage for the archive, sufficient network capacity, and monitoring. Compare the ongoing hosting cost and bandwidth terms with your existing setup; no particular provider or server configuration is established here. Whichever host you choose, test its access to the full media file and its ability to sustain the outgoing stream.
Troubleshooting common failures
- YouTube will not accept the stream. Confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct stream is selected, and the RTMPS URL and private key were copied accurately. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube setup instructions
- FFmpeg cannot open the archive. Check that the filename/path is correct, the file exists on the host running FFmpeg, and the account running the command can read it.
- Picture or sound is missing. Inspect the source’s streams and confirm it actually contains the expected video and audio. An audio-only source needs a visual track for this example; prepare and test one before streaming.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or dropped frames. Check the selected resolution and bitrate against YouTube’s current guidance, then verify that the host has adequate sustained upload capacity. Test again with settings suited to the connection. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance
- The stream stops after a host or network failure. The loop flag repeats the input; it does not guarantee process supervision or reconnection after every failure. Check the FFmpeg output and YouTube status, restore the host or connection, and restart the encoder if needed.
- The YouTube replay is unavailable. Do not assume a broadcast of 12 hours or more will be archived. For the documented automatic archive condition, end the stream before 12 hours. YouTube’s archive guidance
