Set the repeat option on the media source in the encoder that sends your live feed. In OBS, turn on Loop for one file, or use VLC Video with Loop Playlist for several files. YouTube’s watch-page repeat button only repeats playback for an individual viewer; it does not loop the media going out from OBS.
Choose the right way to loop your relaxation stream

For a single relaxation video, use OBS Media Source. For a planned rotation of multiple recordings, use VLC Video. OBS lists common input formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM, as well as MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV audio; that list does not guarantee every specific file will decode correctly on every computer. Loop one relaxation video in OBS
- In OBS, select the scene that will carry the broadcast. Add a Media Source and choose the local video file.
- Open the source’s properties and enable Loop. OBS says this replays the file after playback completes; its documented default is Off.
- Review the other playback behavior, including Show nothing when playback ends, which hides the source when playback finishes. With Loop enabled, playback should ordinarily restart instead of reaching a final stop, but confirm the result in a private or unlisted rehearsal.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and the resulting watch page for picture and sound before relying on the broadcast.
Loop several videos in sequence
- Install VLC and add an OBS VLC Video source.
- Add the local video files to the source playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Make sure Loop Playlist is On. OBS documents this as the setting that restarts the source when it runs out of media; its default is On.
- Leave Shuffle Playlist Off to preserve the listed order, or enable it if you want the playlist shuffled.
- Check the installation architecture: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Before broadcasting publicly, verify the end-to-start transition and listen for an audio gap or unexpected level change.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
YouTube Live receives the feed from an encoder such as OBS. To connect it, use YouTube Studio’s stream details and the encoder’s stream settings:
- In YouTube Studio, create or select a live stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings, then start the encoder.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and follow its flow to go live.
First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. Keep the stream key private: YouTube describes it as the encoder feed’s “password and address” in its live settings guidance.

Why a loop may not keep the live broadcast online
Looping restarts media; it does not guarantee stream uptime. The computer, OBS, upload connection and YouTube connection still need to work. If the broadcast stops, goes blank or loses sound, check the source and the whole feed:
- The video ends instead of restarting: Reopen the OBS source properties and confirm Loop is on for Media Source or Loop Playlist is on for VLC Video.
- The scene is blank: Confirm the media source is visible in the active scene and that the source points to the intended file or playlist.
- VLC Video is unavailable or fails to play: Confirm VLC is installed and its architecture matches OBS; 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC.
- The preview or live feed drops: Check the Live Control Room preview and stream status. A media-source loop cannot repair a stopped encoder, computer, network or service connection.
- Playback stutters or disconnects: YouTube recommends upload bandwidth above the total outgoing streaming bitrate, with 20% additional headroom recommended in its live-streaming tips. Test the encoder setup, preview before going live, monitor sound and picture while streaming, and check that local archive files are growing.
YouTube also documents auto-start and auto-stop controls in Live Control Room. Those affect encoder-driven start and stop behavior; they do not replace the OBS media source’s repeat setting. Details are in YouTube’s live settings help.

Plan for long-stream archives
Live duration and archive capture are different concerns. YouTube’s archive guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, recommends keeping a local recording as a backup, and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive caveat, not a guaranteed maximum duration for a live feed. For an overnight or continuous relaxation stream, decide how you will preserve the recording and whether shorter broadcast sessions suit your needs. See YouTube’s archive help.
