Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a prerecorded podcast prepared as video, a managed cloud looping service is usually the simplest low-administration option; a self-managed VPS can offer more control, but you take responsibility for setup, monitoring and recovery. StreamNeo is the first option to consider if you want an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded video, any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and a free first day. There is no established universal cheapest or most reliable choice: the right fit depends on your format, bitrate, region, runtime and tolerance for server work.
What kind of podcast stream are you making?
This comparison is for a prerecorded episode or playlist rendered as video and streamed continuously on YouTube. It is not a guide to producing a live podcast with hosts, guests, microphones and a live switching workflow. YouTube explains that an encoder converts video into a digital format for streaming, and its verified encoder directory includes tools for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
If your source is audio-only, first prepare a video file or visual presentation suitable for YouTube; the options below concern video streaming workflows. A service that loops uploaded video is not a live studio or a way to broadcast directly from a camera.
Best low-cost options, ranked by fit
| Rank and option | Best fit | Billing and included resources | Who handles the stream? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Creators who want uploaded podcast video or playlists looped to YouTube without keeping a computer on. | One flat price per slot regardless of uploaded quality, up to 4K 60fps; 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. Plans are available by day, week, month, 6 months or year; first day free, no card. | StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The service is YouTube-only. |
| 2. Self-managed VPS, such as Amazon Lightsail | Technically comfortable publishers who want control over the server and encoder configuration. | AWS lists Linux bundles from $5/month with 1 TB transfer on the entry plan; larger bundles include larger transfer allowances. That starting plan price is not an all-in cost for a continuous stream. | You configure the encoder and handle software maintenance, monitoring and recovery. |
| 3. Google Cloud Live Stream API | Workflows that need managed encoding infrastructure and can be estimated from their actual input, output and runtime requirements. | Usage-based. Google lists H.264 input at $0.07/hour at the listed base tier; input tiers and output charges vary by configuration. The base figure is not a total 24/7 pipeline price. | Google provides the managed encoding route; you still need to configure the pipeline and account for its usage charges. |
These options use different billing models and solve different operational problems. There is no common-workload monthly price or independent comparative uptime statistic established for them, so treat the ranking as a fit-based recommendation rather than a measured cost or reliability contest.

1. StreamNeo: least server administration for uploaded video
StreamNeo is a cloud service from Yorker Media for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or create a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live; the cloud continues the loop without a computer, OBS or home connection running. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same features apply to every plan; only the billing period changes.
StreamNeo says uploaded video streams as made, without re-encoding, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. Its prices are:

2. A VPS: potentially economical, but only after sizing the whole workload
A virtual private server gives you a machine on which to run an encoder and publish to YouTube. AWS Lightsail lists Linux bundles from $5/month, with 1 TB transfer included on the entry plan. AWS also notes that outbound transfer above the allowance may incur charges. The price is a starting plan price, not an all-in quote for a nonstop podcast stream. AWS Lightsail pricing

Before choosing a bundle, estimate the stream’s sustained bitrate, monthly outbound transfer, video storage and the resources required to encode. A low server price does not by itself show that a particular bundle can support your stream or that it will remain within its transfer allowance. Larger bundles include larger transfer allowances, but you must match the configuration to your workload.
3. Google Cloud Live Stream API: managed encoding with usage-based charges
Google Cloud’s Live Stream API is an on-demand managed encoding option rather than a single flat monthly slot price. The pricing page lists H.264 input at $0.07/hour at its listed base tier; higher input tiers and output charges vary with resolution and configuration. That input figure alone cannot be multiplied into an all-in 24/7 stream estimate because output and other configuration-dependent charges also matter. Build an estimate from the intended input, output, codec and runtime before comparing it with a bundled service. Google Cloud Live Stream API pricing

How to choose without mistaking the headline price for the total
- Choose a managed loop if your source is already a finished video or playlist and you want to avoid managing a server. Check storage limits, stream quality handling, billing period and what the provider does if YouTube disconnects.
- Choose a VPS if you can configure and maintain the encoder and want control over the environment. Compare the server bundle against bitrate-driven transfer, storage and encoding needs, not just its monthly starting price.
- Estimate a cloud API if managed encoding is appropriate and you can specify the input, output resolution, codec and runtime. Usage charges make a workload-specific estimate essential.
- Separate prerecorded looping from live production. A 24/7 video loop will not supply hosts, guests, real-time audio mixing or camera switching.
For YouTube ingest, use the current official encoder settings as your technical baseline. YouTube recommends RTMPS and publishes bitrate and resolution guidance; it also transcodes streams for playback across devices and network conditions. Confirm the current guide against the output and encoder you intend to use rather than assuming a cloud provider’s maximum quality is the right YouTube ingest setting. YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Set up the source and YouTube stream before going 24/7
- Prepare the video. Render the podcast audio with a suitable visual track, or assemble the episodes into a playlist. Check that you have rights to all audio, video and artwork in the stream.
- Choose a method and estimate resource use. For a service, check its upload, storage and quality limits. For a VPS, estimate continuous outbound transfer from bitrate and runtime, then add storage and encoding needs. For the Live Stream API, estimate input and output charges for the intended configuration and runtime.
- Create the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to stream to your channel.
- Configure the sender. Enter the stream key and YouTube ingest details in the managed service or encoder. Use YouTube’s current RTMPS and encoder recommendations for the selected resolution and bitrate.
- Test before relying on the loop. Start a short test, check picture and audio in YouTube’s preview, confirm the intended stream appears on the correct channel, and verify that the source loops or advances through the playlist as expected.
- Monitor the first run. Confirm that the stream remains active and that any server or usage dashboard shows expected transfer or encoding activity. A managed provider can take over some operations, but do not assume a service guarantees uninterrupted operation unless its current terms explicitly say so.
Rights and YouTube policy are separate from the streaming tool
A service that can loop a file does not establish that you have permission to broadcast it or that a channel is eligible for monetization. Confirm rights for music, clips, guest contributions and other material in each episode, and check YouTube’s current policies on copyright, reused content and livestream archives before publishing. Rules and enforcement can depend on the specific content and channel; do not infer eligibility or archive behavior from a tool’s technical features.

Common cost and setup problems
- A VPS bill is higher than the advertised starting price: the entry plan’s transfer allowance may not suit sustained outbound streaming, and AWS says excess outbound transfer may incur charges. Recalculate using your actual continuous bitrate and select a bundle accordingly.
- A cloud API estimate looks incomplete: the listed H.264 input base-tier hourly rate is only one part of usage-based pricing. Include output charges for the required resolution and codec, along with the intended runtime.
- The stream will not connect: verify the stream key, ingest configuration, protocol and encoder output against YouTube’s current settings. Regenerate the key in YouTube Studio if it may have been exposed.
- The video works but the channel is not suitable for continuous playback: verify that the source is video rather than an unsupported audio-only assumption, test the full playlist, and review YouTube’s current rules and your content rights before scheduling an always-on broadcast.
- A service’s quality ceiling does not match the workflow: distinguish the file’s uploaded quality from YouTube’s ingest settings and playback transcodes. Check both the service’s limits and YouTube’s current encoder guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded podcast video or playlist, StreamNeo’s setup is three steps: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams from uploaded videos, not camera-based live production. See StreamNeo, then start the free first day.
