To loop one podcast episode in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To play several episodes in order and repeat them, add a VLC Video Source, load the episode files as a playlist, leave Loop Playlist on, and turn Shuffle Playlist off. These settings make OBS replay the file or restart the playlist; they do not guarantee a gap-free handoff between separately encoded files. Preview your actual episodes before streaming.
Choose the right OBS source for your episodes

OBS documents file looping and playlist restarting, but does not promise frame-perfect or sample-accurate continuity between separate files. If you need transitions with no audible silence, test the files and the stream output rather than assuming a checkbox will eliminate every gap. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Loop one podcast episode in OBS
- In OBS, select the scene where the episode should appear.
- In the Sources dock, click + and choose Media Source. OBS’s Sources Guide explains adding sources to a scene.
- Name the source if prompted, then open its properties.
- Select the local episode file.
- Enable Loop and confirm the properties.
- Preview playback through the end of the file and into its restart. Check both picture and audio before you go live.
The Loop control replays the file after playback completes; it does not join multiple episodes into a playlist.

Install VLC with the right architecture
Install VLC before adding the source. OBS says VLC must be installed for VLC Video Source to appear. Match its architecture to OBS: if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.

Create and configure the playlist
- Select the OBS scene for the podcast stream.
- In the Sources dock, click + and choose VLC Video Source.
- Open the source properties and add the episode files in the order you want them to play.
- Leave Loop Playlist enabled so the source restarts after it has run out of media files.
- Turn Shuffle Playlist off for predictable episode order. OBS lists Loop Playlist as on and Shuffle Playlist as off by default, but check the actual settings in your source.
- Apply the changes, then preview the full sequence, including the transitions between episodes and the return from the last file to the first.
OBS documents the playlist restart behavior, not a gapless guarantee. Test with the same exported files you intend to stream; a preview of different files or only the middle of an episode cannot establish how your actual transitions sound.
Can OBS guarantee no gap between tracks?
No such guarantee is stated in the OBS documentation. Looping a single file replays it when playback completes; looping a VLC playlist restarts it after the source runs out of media files. Neither description promises a seamless handoff between independently encoded episodes.

If a short pause is unacceptable, listen closely to the end of one episode and the beginning of the next in the OBS preview, then verify the stream output. If you hear a gap, consider preparing a single continuous file with the intended episode order and transitions, then looping that file as a Media Source. Test the resulting file in OBS before relying on it live.
Optional alternative: Media Playlist Source plugin
Media Playlist Source is a third-party OBS plugin, not a prerequisite for the built-in VLC workflow. Its author’s update history says version 0.1.3 requires OBS 31 or newer and records fixes for playlists failing to continue after transitions or when a path repeats. Compatibility and behavior can depend on the OBS build and plugin release, so check the author’s plugin listing and update history, then test before a live broadcast.

Before you take the loop live
- Confirm the correct scene is selected and the source is visible.
- Check the episode order and confirm Shuffle Playlist is off if sequence matters.
- Preview each transition, including the loop from the final episode back to the first.
- Listen for silence, clipped audio, or an unexpected restart; check the picture as well as the sound.
- Use the actual exported files in your test. OBS’s documented controls do not establish gapless performance for your particular encodes.
