Yes—but the audio has to change upstream, in the playback source or encoder workflow. YouTube’s live-ingest guidance calls for one audio stream, so do not confuse a day-to-night program change with giving viewers several simultaneous tracks to choose from. For one continuous broadcast, automate the source change before the single audio feed reaches YouTube, then test the transition.
What “different audio tracks” can mean
There are two distinct setups:
- Changing the program over time: everyone watching hears the audio currently being sent—perhaps daytime nature ambience followed by nighttime rain. This can be arranged by switching the source feeding the encoder.
- Offering simultaneous choices: viewers select among alternate audio tracks in the live player. YouTube’s Live Streaming API health guidance says an ingested stream must contain one audio stream. The reviewed YouTube Live documentation does not establish a viewer-selectable multitrack feature for this setup.
Google’s LiveStreams API documentation identifies multiple audio streams as an ingest health issue and states that the stream must contain only one. That is why a scheduled change belongs in your playout or encoder chain, not in a presumed YouTube day/night setting.
Ways to handle a day-to-night change
Keep one continuous broadcast and switch the source
For a single ongoing watch page, use a playout or encoder workflow that changes which ASMR program feeds the one outgoing audio stream at the intended time. YouTube’s documentation does not prescribe a specific scheduler or audio-routing product for this job; choosing and configuring one is an upstream production decision. This is an implementation inference from YouTube’s encoder workflow and single-audio-stream ingest guidance.
Before leaving it unattended, test the actual change in a private or otherwise appropriate test setup. Listen for silence, overlapping audio, abrupt level changes, unwanted gaps, and whether the video continues as intended. Monitor YouTube’s stream health during operation.

Use separate scheduled broadcasts
YouTube Studio supports scheduling streams, promoting them, and connecting an encoder when it is time to go live. Separate events can suit a channel that wants distinct scheduled programs, but each event is operationally different from changing audio inside one continuous 24/7 broadcast. Event boundaries may interrupt the uninterrupted viewing experience.
Do not plan around selectable live tracks
The cited ingest guidance does not support assuming that viewers can choose between concurrent day and night ASMR audio tracks in the live player. If viewer choice is essential, verify the precise capability with current YouTube documentation before designing the production around it.

Encoder setup and transition checks
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming for productions using external audio/video equipment and more advanced setups. The encoder sends the stream to YouTube using the stream URL and key; a scheduled event can be connected when it is due. The particular audio-switching automation is not specified by YouTube’s setup guidance.
- Choose the broadcast structure. Decide whether one continuous watch page matters more than separate scheduled events. For continuous programming, plan a source change feeding one outgoing audio stream.
- Configure the encoder for the selected ingest protocol. YouTube’s encoder guidance gives recommended audio settings of 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps for stereo, or 48 kHz and 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio. Match the setting to your actual audio format and confirm it against the current encoder and protocol documentation. YouTube’s HLS guidance describes a separate ingestion protocol with its own codecs and settings; choosing HLS does not establish support for viewer-selectable multitrack audio.
- Test representative content and the exact transition. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended stream. Test the day-to-night handoff, including levels and continuity, rather than checking only that each source plays on its own.
- Watch stream health. Check the encoder and YouTube’s live health indicators during startup and around the scheduled switch. Resolve audio-stream or ingest warnings before relying on the setup unattended.
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance provides the cited audio recommendations. Treat them as recommendations, not a guarantee that every encoder, input format, or protocol will use identical labels or defaults.

Encoder examples are not a guarantee of this workflow
YouTube’s encoder directory lists CamStreamer App as supporting continuous 24/7 and scheduled streams. It also lists AJA HELO Plus, describing optional multichannel-audio workflows and AJA PlayToStream for scheduled prerecorded playback to YouTube Live without a computer. Those directory descriptions do not establish that either product performs the exact timed ASMR audio-source switch described here. A dedicated hardware encoder is not inherently required; YouTube also supports software encoders.
