To run recorded French lessons continuously on YouTube Live, enable live streaming on your channel, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, and send it a looping lesson playlist from OBS or another encoder. Test the picture, sound, playlist and internet connection before going public. One crucial limitation: YouTube says a live stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so keep your own recording if you need a complete replay.

Choose how the lessons will play

YouTube receives a live video feed from an encoder; it does not loop your uploaded lesson videos into a live broadcast by itself. Choose the playback method before configuring the stream:

Approach Best fit Main tradeoff
StreamNeo cloud playback Creators who want uploaded videos to keep playing on YouTube without an always-on computer It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed; check whether its playlist and scheduling options suit your program.
OBS or another software encoder on a computer Creators who want scene and playlist control and can leave a computer running The computer, encoder, network connection and any local recording must stay operational.
Standalone hardware encoder A dedicated production where an appliance-style encoder is preferred Requires selecting and configuring physical equipment; no specific model is established here.

Choose based on how much control you need over scenes and transitions, the resolution you intend to send, whether you need a local archive, your budget, and whether your equipment can run unattended. A cloud service avoids leaving your own computer to encode all day, but assess the actual service features and terms rather than relying on marketing claims.

Prepare a useful, rights-cleared lesson program

Arrange the recordings as a coherent curriculum, not just a folder of clips. A viewer arriving at any point should be able to understand what they are watching and what to do next. Consider clear lesson titles, brief transitions, practice pauses and a description explaining the sequence and that it repeats.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Check that you have the right to stream every lesson, image, music track, textbook page, stock clip and other inserted material. Permission to use something in a classroom or a recording does not necessarily grant permission to broadcast it on YouTube.
  • Make sure the playlist has usable audio levels and consistent aspect ratio. Avoid abrupt or confusing gaps at the loop boundary.
  • Decide whether to enable shuffle. For a language curriculum, a fixed sequence may preserve learning progression; shuffle is more appropriate only if lessons work in any order.
  • Plan how learners will find their place. Chapters or a linked curriculum in the description can help, but verify timestamps and links before publishing.

Enable YouTube Live and create the encoder stream

  1. Activate live streaming. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and follow the encoder setup. YouTube says initial activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your intended launch.
  2. Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio’s live control room, create or schedule an encoder stream. Set its title, description, visibility and other event details. Review the visibility carefully before sending viewers the link.
  3. Copy the connection details. Get the stream URL and stream key from the event’s encoder settings and enter them in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: someone who obtains it could send content to your channel. YouTube supports custom reusable stream keys; reset the key if it is compromised.
  4. Keep the event and encoder matched. Confirm that the encoder is sending to the intended scheduled stream, especially if you have multiple events or keys. The preview in YouTube Studio should show the correct lesson feed before you start the public broadcast.

Loop recorded lessons in OBS

OBS can repeat a single file or play a playlist through its VLC Video source. For a playlist, VLC must be installed; OBS’s documentation specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Media Sources guide for the source controls.

Option A: loop one lesson file

  1. In OBS, select the scene that will carry the lessons.
  2. Use Sources → + → Media Source, then create a new source or select an existing one.
  3. Choose the lesson video file. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties.
  4. Check that the source is visible in the canvas, fits the intended frame, and includes the expected audio.

Option B: loop a playlist

  1. Install VLC if it is not already installed. Match its architecture to OBS; for 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
  2. In OBS, select the scene, then choose Sources → + → VLC Video.
  3. Add the lesson files in the intended order to the playlist.
  4. Enable Loop Playlist. Enable shuffle only if lesson order is not important.
  5. Preview the end of one clip and the start of the next, including the final-to-first transition, to catch black frames, silence or unexpected gaps.

Keep the media files available at the paths OBS expects. If you move or rename files after building the playlist, reopen the source and verify every item loads.

Set encoder quality and connection expectations

Use a stable upload connection and test it while the encoder is sending a representative scene. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends H.264 bitrates of 14 Mbit/s for 1080p at 30 fps and 8 Mbit/s for 720p at 30 fps. These are recommended encoding bitrates, not required internet-plan speeds; allow additional upload headroom and test the actual connection. Do not set the encoder’s output higher than the lesson’s source quality without a clear reason, since YouTube transcodes incoming streams for viewers.

Encoder setting Recommended choice in YouTube guidance
Video codec H.264
Rate control CBR
Keyframe interval 2 seconds
Audio codec AAC or MP3
1080p at 30 fps video bitrate 14 Mbit/s recommended
720p at 30 fps video bitrate 8 Mbit/s recommended

Refer to YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guidance for its current recommendations and other output configurations. The bitrate is the encoded stream rate; it is not a guarantee that a connection with the same advertised upload speed will remain stable.

For a prerecorded lesson channel, live chat interaction may not be central. YouTube notes that lower latency can increase playback buffering, and that low latency matters less when the creator is not interacting with viewers. DVR can let viewers pause and rewind, but rewind availability can be limited or unavailable on very long streams, especially beyond 12 hours. Review the live stream settings for the event options you choose.

Test, then start the broadcast

  1. Start OBS or your chosen encoder and confirm that it is sending to the right YouTube event.
  2. In YouTube Studio, wait for the preview and inspect stream health. Confirm the correct image, audio, aspect ratio and lesson order.
  3. Test motion and sound similar to the actual lessons, including a playlist transition and the loop boundary. A static screen alone is not a representative test.
  4. Check that the upload connection has headroom and remains stable while the stream runs.
  5. When the preview is correct, start the broadcast in YouTube Studio if the event requires you to do so. Confirm that the public watch page shows the intended feed.
  6. For an OBS-based 24/7 stream, leave the computer powered, OBS open and network connected. Plan for software updates, power interruptions and the need to monitor the feed.

Plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube replay. YouTube also recommends recording a local archive as backup; see its live stream archive guidance.

If preserving the whole program matters, make and check a local recording, and ensure you have enough storage for the duration and quality you are recording. Another option is to run separately managed broadcasts shorter than 12 hours, but those sessions break the uninterrupted 24/7 stream and each requires operational attention. Neither approach removes the need to check that the recording actually completed.

Copyright and monetization considerations

Clear every component before streaming

YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted material. If it identifies content, it may replace the video with a placeholder, interrupt or terminate the stream, or apply a copyright strike. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add the channel to a Content ID allowlist. Resolve this with the rights holder before going live. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains the platform’s process.

Do not assume a repeated stream qualifies for monetization

YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams. Its policy describes repetitive or mass-produced content as “inauthentic content”; the policy update dated July 15, 2025 clarified that terminology and said there was no change to the reused-content policy. Similar formats may be acceptable when the substance provides distinct creative, educational or other value, but repetition alone does not establish eligibility. A French lesson channel is stronger as an educational program when it offers an original curriculum, explanations, practice or other meaningful value rather than an unchanged generic loop. Monetization is ultimately a channel-level decision by YouTube. Read the YouTube channel monetization policies.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live continuously. Upload your lesson recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.
