You can use BSNL broadband for a 24/7 FFmpeg YouTube stream if the connection can sustain your chosen upload bitrate with room to spare. A plan’s advertised speed or a single speed-test peak cannot prove that a line will remain stable all day. Measure the actual connection where the stream will run, configure FFmpeg to match YouTube’s current ingest guidance, check your circle’s Fair Usage Policy (FUP), and test what happens when the network or streaming machine fails.
Check whether your BSNL line can sustain the stream
Test upload performance on the actual BSNL connection and at the location where FFmpeg will run. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate in its live encoder settings guidance. A single result is only a snapshot; for an always-on stream, observe performance at the times you expect to broadcast and look for variation or interruptions.
- Test with the intended computer and network path, not a different connection.
- Run a representative stream test with motion and audio similar to the content you will broadcast.
- Leave operating margin below your observed upload capacity. If upload varies, choose a lower bitrate or resolution rather than encoding at the edge of a speed-test result.
- Confirm that YouTube receives the stream and reports healthy status in Live Control Room.
There is no retrieved published statistic that establishes uptime or successful 24/7 streaming for a particular BSNL line. The only reliable decision is based on your own connection’s behavior under a representative test.
Check your BSNL plan’s FUP before streaming continuously
A nonstop upload uses data, so check the current broadband terms for your BSNL circle, especially the FUP threshold and the speed after it is reached. Plan names and offers can vary by location and change over time.

| Example plan | Published terms | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Fibre Neo | Up to 50 Mbps to 3300 GB FUP, then 4 Mbps | BSNL Chennai Telephones plan sheet updated 2025-10-01; a Chennai example, not a national offer or a guarantee of current availability |
| Fibre Basic Plus | Up to 100 Mbps to 4000 GB FUP, then 4 Mbps | BSNL Chennai Telephones plan sheet updated 2025-10-01; a Chennai example, not a national offer or a guarantee of current availability |
These advertised maximums are not measurements of your upload speed. Check the current plan sheet for your circle and verify the post-FUP terms before relying on a plan for a continuous stream.
Choose YouTube-compatible encoder settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265, and AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. For H.264, its recommended video bitrate is 5 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not evidence that a BSNL line can sustain those rates.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Match codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to the capacity you measured. Reduce resolution or bitrate if the connection fluctuates.
- Use CBR and set keyframes every two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- Account for audio and protocol overhead as well as video when assessing available upload capacity.
- Consult YouTube’s current bitrate table for other resolutions and frame rates; avoid assuming that one resolution’s recommendation applies to another.
Use RTMPS for ordinary live content. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance specifies a valid RTMPS endpoint, application path, and port 443. The ingest address and stream-name or key details are available through Live Control Room or the relevant Live Streaming API resource. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your broadcast.
Configure FFmpeg without exposing your stream key
The exact FFmpeg command depends on your source (a video file, capture device, camera, or generated input), installed FFmpeg build, available encoders, and selected output settings. The available evidence does not support one universally safe command for every source and machine. Build the command around the RTMPS address and key supplied for your YouTube broadcast, then verify the options against the documentation for your installed FFmpeg build.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Prepare the source. Identify the input type and the resolution, frame rate, and audio format you intend to send. Make sure the source itself can run continuously; a finite file needs a deliberate looping approach.
- Get the ingest details. In YouTube Live Control Room, retrieve the broadcast’s RTMPS ingest server and stream key. Keep the key out of public scripts, screenshots, logs, and shared command examples.
- Set encoder parameters. Choose a YouTube-supported codec and configure resolution, frame rate, CBR video bitrate, audio, and the two-second keyframe interval to suit both the broadcast and your measured upload.
- Send over RTMPS. Use the valid endpoint, application path, and port 443. Check the FFmpeg protocol documentation for the protocol options supported by your build.
- Verify the whole path. Run a representative test, monitor upload behavior and YouTube stream health, and confirm that audio and motion remain stable.
Do not treat a successful short test as proof of uninterrupted operation. Test foreseeable failures—such as loss of network, source, computer, or power—and decide how you will restore the stream. The available sources do not establish a universal FFmpeg reconnection configuration or a guarantee of BSNL service continuity.
Protect the stream’s content and channel
Before leaving a stream running, make sure you have the rights needed for every video, music track, image, and other material in the broadcast. A 24/7 format does not exempt content from YouTube’s copyright rules. Also assess whether your channel’s programming offers sufficient original value: repeatedly streaming material you do not own or have permission to use can create copyright and channel-monetization risks. Review YouTube’s current policies and use the copyright safety checklist before going live.

Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Recheck the RTMPS server, application path, port 443, and stream key in Live Control Room. Confirm that the FFmpeg build supports the options and protocol you are using.
- Stream health is poor or video stalls: Compare the actual upload behavior with the configured bitrate, including audio and overhead. Reduce the bitrate or resolution and retest with representative motion and sound.
- The stream works initially but fails later: Check for changes in upload performance, FUP status, source availability, machine operation, or power. The available sources do not guarantee BSNL line uptime; test your recovery procedure instead of assuming the connection will remain uninterrupted.
- Performance drops after sustained use: Check your circle-specific FUP and post-FUP speed. The Chennai plan examples above illustrate why the post-FUP rate matters, but do not establish terms for other circles.
- You need provider help: BSNL lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fibre, broadband, and landline support. The listing does not promise a repair time or dedicated support for always-on streaming.
