If your Gyre subscription payment failed in India, check Settings > Subscriptions for the subscription status and a MANUAL PAYMENT option. Gyre says a failed subscription charge gets two more automatic attempts. Its published payment FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard and Maestro cards, and PayPal or cryptocurrency for topping up a Gyre balance; it does not list UPI as a direct payment method. Gyre’s payment FAQ is the reference for its documented options.
What to do first when a Gyre payment fails
- Sign in to Gyre and open Settings > Subscriptions. Find the affected subscription and check its payment status.
- If the payment has failed once or twice, open the subscription’s three-dot menu and select MANUAL PAYMENT if that option is shown. Gyre says the control appears after the first or second failed attempt.
- Check the payment method and ask the card issuer whether the card can make online, recurring and, if applicable, international transactions. Confirm the card details and available funds or credit.
- Allow for Gyre’s retry process: it says it will make two additional automatic attempts after the initial failed subscription payment. If you need to try sooner and the manual option is available, use it rather than waiting for a retry.
Gyre recommends keeping sufficient funds available or topping up the account balance before the renewal date. Subscription charges recur at the start of each subscription period unless you cancel before renewal, according to its Terms of Service.
Can you pay Gyre with UPI in India?
Gyre’s published payment FAQ does not list UPI as a direct subscription payment option. It lists Visa, Mastercard and Maestro bank cards; PayPal and cryptocurrency are documented as ways to top up the Gyre balance. Do not assume that UPI is accepted unless it is actually offered in the checkout for your account and location. Do not send money to an unofficial UPI ID or an unrelated recipient as a supposed Gyre payment.
UPI is a payment system for bank-account transfers; its availability in an app does not mean a particular merchant accepts it. NPCI’s UPI FAQ notes that the mobile number verified in the UPI app must match the number linked to the bank account for the account to be fetched. NPCI also describes a limited route for eligible NRE/NRO account holders to use an international mobile number with supported banks and apps in its UPI for NRIs overview. Neither point establishes that Gyre accepts UPI for subscriptions.

If your card is declined
A decline can come from incorrect details, insufficient funds or credit, a card that is not eligible for the transaction, or issuer restrictions on online, recurring or cross-border payments. These are general checks, not a diagnosis of a particular Gyre charge. Google Pay’s guidance identifies issuer declines and disabled online or international use as possible causes of card-payment problems: see its card-payment troubleshooting and its payment-issue guidance.
- Re-enter the card details and confirm that the card has not expired.
- Check the available balance or credit and any transaction limits.
- Ask the issuing bank whether online, recurring and international transactions are enabled, and whether it can see a decline reason for the Gyre attempt.
- If the bank cannot identify or resolve the issue, check Gyre’s subscription page and contact Gyre support with the attempt date, amount and status.
“International payment” can mean a transaction the issuer or processor treats as cross-border. The available official information does not establish Gyre’s currency routing, whether a specific India-issued card is accepted, or how an individual payment will be classified. Enabling international use may be worth discussing with the bank, but it is not a guaranteed fix.

If your bank account was debited but Gyre says payment failed
First identify whether the debit was made through UPI or by card. A debit shown as pending is not the same as a completed Gyre subscription payment; check both the bank or payment app’s transaction status and Gyre’s subscription status. Save the date, amount, transaction reference and status before contacting support.
UPI debit or pending transaction
NPCI’s UPI FAQ says a failed UPI transaction should be refunded and advises contacting the bank if the refund has not arrived within an hour. It also says a pending debit may take up to 48 hours to reach the beneficiary bank when there is a beneficiary-bank delay. These are UPI transaction-handling timeframes: they do not mean Gyre accepts UPI, and they do not show that a Gyre subscription has been paid.

Card debit after an apparent failure
If your card was charged although the merchant payment appears to have failed, Google Pay’s card guidance says to contact the issuing bank. Give the bank the transaction date, amount and status, and separately check the Gyre subscription page before attempting another payment.
Which payment route should you retry?

Gyre says its account balance is intended for Gyre services and is not generally withdrawable. Its terms also say subscription charges recur at the start of each period unless the subscription is cancelled before renewal.
