How to Stop Gyre From Restarting a YouTube Live Stream After Disconnects

YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings control encoder behavior, not necessarily Gyre’s disconnect recovery. Here’s what to check and when to contact Gyre support.

Check the stream’s auto-start and auto-stop settings in YouTube Live Control Room, but don’t assume they control whether Gyre restarts after a disconnect. YouTube describes those options as encoder start/stop controls; Gyre publicly describes automatic restarting, but its reviewed help material does not confirm a dedicated setting to disable it. If you can’t find a restart control in Gyre’s current stream settings, ask Gyre support whether one is available for your account and setup.

First identify how Gyre is connected to YouTube

The right place to investigate depends on how the broadcast was set up:

  • Manual YouTube setup: The broadcast was created in YouTube Studio and connected to Gyre with a stream key. YouTube’s encoder controls are configured for that broadcast.
  • YouTube channel authorization: Gyre was authorized to connect to the channel. Gyre says this workflow lets it manage the broadcast lifecycle, including automatic stopping.

These workflows are not interchangeable. Identify which one you used before changing settings or contacting support. Gyre’s setup information describes the distinction between manual configuration and its authorized workflow: Gyre Help Center.

Check YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
  2. Open the relevant stream’s settings and review Auto-start and Auto-stop.
  3. Note which options are enabled before changing anything. YouTube describes these as controls that let an encoder start or stop a stream; they are not documented as controls for Gyre’s disconnect-restart policy.
  4. If you create a new broadcast using Reuse settings, check the copied auto-start and auto-stop selections rather than assuming they are off.

YouTube’s explanation is in its Live Control Room settings help.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

For manual setup, distinguish planned stopping from disconnect recovery

Gyre’s manual setup guide recommends enabling YouTube auto-start for automatic starting and says auto-stop may be enabled if the stream should stop when the video finishes. Those options address encoder start and stop behavior. The guide does not say that disabling either option prevents Gyre from restarting after an unexpected disconnect. See Gyre’s setup guidance and confirm the current controls in your account.

Use the scheduler for a planned end time

If your goal is to end a stream at a scheduled time—not to prevent recovery after an unexpected disconnect—check Gyre’s Streams Scheduler. Gyre documents scheduled start and end times and says the relevant YouTube auto-start/auto-end options are enabled during setup. Scheduler availability may depend on your plan. Consult Gyre’s scheduler help for the current workflow and availability.

If Gyre still restarts after a disconnect

  1. Stop the stream in Gyre if you need it to stop now.
  2. Check YouTube’s broadcast status in Live Control Room so you know whether the broadcast is still live, ended, or waiting for an encoder.
  3. Look through the current Gyre stream settings for a restart or recovery control. Public help material reviewed does not confirm that a dedicated setting exists, so don’t infer that one is available or unavailable from the YouTube auto-start setting.
  4. If you cannot find a relevant control, contact Gyre support. Include whether you used a stream key or channel authorization, the time of the disconnect, and what YouTube showed afterward. Gyre’s help material directs users with problems to its support service.
