To loop a gaming video archive on a 24/7 YouTube livestream, send a looping video source from OBS Studio to YouTube through an encoder stream. For one file, use OBS Media Source and enable Loop; for several files, use the VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Test the stream before making it public, confirm you have rights to everything it contains, and keep a local recording: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Check that your channel can livestream
YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before configuring OBS; if the channel is not eligible, the encoder setup will not make it so. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and start the encoder workflow for a live stream. Create or manage the stream, then locate the stream URL and stream key shown for the encoder.

Copy the stream URL and key into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it can authorize an encoder to send a stream to your channel. Do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or put it in a public configuration file.

Use YouTube’s recommended RTMPS ingest endpoint where available, and use the current codec and bitrate guidance shown in YouTube’s encoder settings. Set up the gaming archive in OBS
Loop one archive file

In OBS, create or select a scene for the stream.

In the Sources panel, choose + and add a Media Source.

Select the local video file you want to play and enable Loop in the source properties. When playback reaches the end, OBS starts that file again.

Check that the source is visible in the preview and that its audio is enabled at the level you intend to send.

Rotate several files as a playlist

Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to appear.

Add a VLC Video source in OBS and select the archive files for the playlist.

Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties so OBS returns to the beginning after the playlist items finish.

Preview the transitions and confirm each selected file plays with the intended audio and framing.

Use Media Source when you have one local file to repeat; use VLC Video when you want OBS to rotate multiple files. Both playback choices are documented in OBS’s Media Sources guide.

Configure OBS and start a test stream

In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube if it is available as a service, or enter YouTube’s stream URL and key using the encoder option. Confirm that the key matches the stream you created in YouTube Studio.

In Settings > Output and Settings > Video, choose an output resolution and bitrate supported by YouTube and sustainable for your system and network. Use YouTube’s current published encoder settings as the platform-specific reference rather than assuming one bitrate suits every resolution or connection.

Start with a short, private or unlisted test. Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room and confirm the video, audio, and playback loop behave as intended. OBS recommends a brief test before a first broadcast; YouTube advises monitoring audio and video continuously. OBS’s streaming guide.

Once the preview is correct, begin the intended broadcast and keep an eye on OBS and Live Control Room for interruptions or playback problems.
Protect the archive and check content rights
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a 24/7 replay
YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an always-on broadcast, do not treat YouTube’s replay as the sole copy of the archive. OBS can record while streaming; make a local recording and check that the resulting files are intact. If the recording needs to be kept, plan where to store it and how to preserve it. An external drive is optional; choose capacity based on recording length and output settings rather than assuming a particular size will suffice. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Confirm rights before going live
You are responsible for having the necessary rights for the live material and for following YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Check the game publisher’s streaming policy and the rights status of the game’s music, licensed tracks, overlays, and other third-party content. A video file being in your archive does not establish that you have permission to rebroadcast every element in it; permissions depend on the specific game and material. YouTube’s Terms of Service.

The stream does not appear in Live Control Room: verify that the YouTube stream is configured for an encoder, that OBS is using its matching URL and key, and that the channel meets YouTube’s live-stream eligibility requirements.

The file stops at the end instead of restarting: open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a multi-file source, confirm you added VLC Video and enabled Loop Playlist.

VLC Video is missing from the source list: install VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source menu again.

The preview has no video or audio: check the selected file, source visibility, audio level, and OBS preview. Run another short test and verify the result in Live Control Room before a public launch.

The stream disconnects or becomes unstable: check the encoder connection and whether the computer and upload connection can sustain the selected output settings. Compare them with YouTube’s current encoder guidance, then test again.

The broadcast is missing a full replay: YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording and a separate preservation plan instead of relying on the live archive.

Copyright claims or restrictions appear: review the specific game, music, and other third-party material in the stream and resolve rights issues before rebroadcasting. The general guidance cannot determine whether a particular game recording is cleared.
