If you use OBS without the plugin—or another compatible streaming program—copy the widget URL and add it as a browser source.
Configure the widget in the Streamlabs Dashboard
- Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- In the left menu, select All Widgets → Viewer Count.
- Under General Settings, choose which supported platforms the widget should count.
- Use the font settings to adjust its style, size, weight, and color. Custom HTML and CSS are available for further customization.
The background color shown in the dashboard is for preview purposes; it is not a control for the widget’s background on your stream.
Add the widget to your streaming software
Streamlabs Desktop: use the native source
- In Streamlabs Desktop, find the Sources panel and select + Add Source.
- Choose Viewer Count, then select Add Source.
- Name the source or keep its default name, and add it.
- Adjust the appearance in the settings window and select Done.
- In the scene, drag the source into position and resize it to fit your layout.
OBS Studio: use the Streamlabs Plugin
- Install the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS and sign in.
- Open the Streamlabs area in OBS, select Viewer Count, then select +Add to add it to the current scene.
- To change widget settings later, use the widget’s settings route to return to the dashboard.
OBS without the plugin, or other compatible software: use a browser source
- In the Streamlabs Dashboard, open the Viewer Count widget and copy its widget URL.
- In your streaming software, add a Browser Source and paste in the URL.
- Set the browser source’s width, height, and FPS as needed for your scene and software. Streamlabs does not prescribe universal values for this widget, so adjust them to the space you want it to occupy.
- Position and resize the source in your scene, then check its appearance before streaming.
Keep the widget URL private: anyone with access to a widget URL may be able to use that widget. If you share it accidentally, replace or reset it in the dashboard if that option is available.
Supported platforms and appearance options
Streamlabs lists Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Kick as supported platforms for Viewer Count. Select the platform or platforms in the widget’s General Settings before adding or refreshing the source in your scene.

Troubleshooting
The widget is missing from the scene
- In Streamlabs Desktop, check the Sources panel and confirm that Viewer Count was added to the scene you are currently using.
- In OBS, confirm that you are using either the signed-in Streamlabs Plugin route or a browser source with the copied widget URL.
- Check that the source is visible and not covered by another scene element.
The count does not reflect the platform you expect
- Return to All Widgets → Viewer Count in the dashboard and check the platform selection under General Settings.
- Confirm that the account and stream you intend to show are associated with the selected platform. The widget’s available platform list is Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Kick.
The widget is too large, too small, or poorly positioned
- For a native source or plugin, adjust the widget appearance and resize or move it in the scene.
- For a browser source, adjust its width and height in the source properties, then reposition it in the scene. There is no universal size that fits every overlay.
The browser source does not display correctly
- Check that the copied URL is complete and pasted into the browser source’s URL field.
- Review the browser source’s width, height, and FPS settings. Streamlabs’ widget URL guidance notes these settings but does not give one set of values for all widgets or scenes.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate option from a viewer-count overlay: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
