Use Google Takeout to export all videos uploaded to your channel, download and inspect every archive part, then transfer the extracted files to your VPS over a secure connection such as rsync over SSH. Takeout does not send an archive directly to a generic VPS: stage the export on a computer or storage device first, and check the server’s disk and transfer limits before copying.
Choose the right way to export your videos
For videos uploaded by you, Google Takeout is the official route for exporting a whole library. YouTube Studio is more convenient when you only need a few individual uploads, but its downloads may not preserve the original source master.

If you need the camera original, editing project, or another source master, preserve it separately. A YouTube export or Studio download should not be assumed to reproduce that master.
How to download all videos from your YouTube channel
1. Confirm which Google Account owns the uploads
Sign in to the Google Account associated with the channel. If the channel uses a Brand Account, switch to the Brand Account that contains the uploads before creating the export. If this is a work or school account, ask the Google Workspace administrator whether exports are restricted; administrators can limit Takeout.

2. Create a YouTube export in Google Takeout
- Open Google Takeout and sign in to the correct account.
- Choose YouTube data for export and follow the on-screen steps to create the archive.
- Select an archive-size limit. Google says choosing 50 GB may reduce file splitting; it does not guarantee a single archive.
- Wait for Google’s export notification, then download all archive parts promptly. The links are available for about seven days, and each archive can be downloaded up to five times, according to Google Account Help.
3. Extract and inventory the files
Save every archive part to a computer or storage device with enough free space, then extract the archives. List the resulting files and compare them with the uploads you expect to have. This inventory is a practical check: Google’s documentation does not promise a complete channel-reconciliation report. Keep all parts until extraction and inspection are finished.
If videos appear to be missing, first recheck the signed-in account and Brand Account. If the account is managed by an organization, confirm that the administrator allows Takeout exports.

Can Google Takeout send videos directly to a VPS?
Google documents Takeout exports and certain supported destinations, but not a direct export to an arbitrary VPS. Treat the VPS copy as a separate transfer after downloading the Takeout archive. Google’s Linux VM file-copy guidance describes methods such as rsync; that is not a one-click Takeout-to-generic-VPS feature.
Check the VPS before transferring
- Confirm persistent disk space for the extracted library, not just the compressed archive. If there is not enough room, add or mount storage before copying.
- Check the provider’s current transfer quota, network terms, server region, and any storage expansion limits. These vary by provider and plan; the right India VPS depends on your archive size and the host’s current terms.
- Use a secure transfer method supported by the provider. If the VPS has SSH access and rsync is available, rsync over SSH is a practical choice; otherwise use the host’s supported secure file-transfer method.
4. Copy, verify, and retain another copy
- Connect from the computer holding the extracted files using the VPS provider’s authenticated SSH or other supported secure transfer setup.
- Copy the files to the intended persistent storage on the server. Do not delete the local archive or extracted files during the transfer.
- On the VPS, check file counts and sizes and open representative video files. Keep the original archive or source masters in a separate safe location until the server copy is verified.
A VPS copy by itself is not an independent backup. Google also advises storing Takeout exports somewhere safe with enough space; see Google Account Help.

Copyright and YouTube policy limits
Use this workflow for videos you uploaded and are entitled to export. YouTube’s Terms of Service restrict downloading or otherwise using content except where the service expressly authorizes it or the relevant permissions have been obtained. YouTube Help states, “You can’t download other users’ YouTube videos” (YouTube Help).
Do not substitute scraping or an unofficial downloader for the official export. YouTube’s API developer policies prohibit API clients from downloading, importing, backing up, caching, or storing audiovisual content without prior written approval. For third-party material, obtain the necessary rights and follow the applicable permissions.

What changes for a VPS in India?
The export steps are not different for India; the available official guidance does not establish a special India-specific procedure. The country matters when choosing the server: verify the provider’s current India-region availability, persistent disk capacity, network allowance, backup options, and total cost at purchase time. No particular host or plan can be recommended without knowing the library size and checking current provider details.
