Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf your YouTube Live archive is already a video file, upload it through YouTube Studio and let it finish; a slow connection can make the process take hours. If the upload stops, YouTube says to return to youtube.com/upload within 24 hours and select the same file to continue. First check whether YouTube has already archived the stream automatically, and keep a local copy in case it has not.
Check whether YouTube already saved the livestream
Before uploading a recording, open YouTube Studio and look under your channel’s Live content for the stream’s archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not assume a long broadcast has a replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
If the archive is present, you may not need to upload the local copy. If it is missing or you want to upload a separate recording, use the local file and follow the steps below.
Upload the archive using YouTube Studio
- Open the upload flow. In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Upload videos, and choose the recording from your device. YouTube’s computer upload instructions describe this workflow at Upload YouTube videos.
- Keep the upload intact while it transfers. A slow upload may take minutes or hours. YouTube identifies file size, bandwidth, upload traffic, and video quality as factors; higher-quality files such as 4K take longer. If progress is slow but continuing, leave the upload running where possible rather than restarting it. There is no reliable universal time estimate for a particular file and connection.
- Choose visibility and finish processing. Uploading transfers the file to YouTube; publishing makes it available to viewers. You can keep it private or unlisted while it processes or while you set its publication details.
Resume an interrupted YouTube upload
If the connection drops or the upload stalls and stops, go to youtube.com/upload within 24 hours and select the same file again. YouTube says this continues the upload from where it stopped. The guidance specifies a 24-hour window, not an unlimited one, so use the same file promptly rather than waiting. Details are in YouTube’s guidance for a video stuck during upload.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the original recording unchanged until the upload has completed. If you rename, edit, or replace the file, you may make it harder to select the same file for continuation.
Check the account and file limits
- Long videos require verification. A verified account can upload videos longer than 15 minutes. Check the account’s verification status if YouTube will not accept the duration.
- Maximum size or duration: YouTube’s stated maximum is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. These are separate limits; meeting one does not override the other.
- Files over 256 GB: YouTube suggests H.264 compression to reduce file size. Compression can reduce image quality, so retain an untouched original recording before making a smaller upload copy.
These account and file rules are described in YouTube’s upload limits guidance. YouTube’s help pages can change, so check the current instructions if Studio displays a different limit or verification requirement.

Why a completed livestream upload can still be slow
For an archive upload, the main practical factors are the saved file’s size and the upload bandwidth available at that moment, along with traffic and quality. A larger or higher-quality recording contains more data to transfer. Waiting for a slow but progressing upload is usually preferable to repeatedly cancelling and starting over.
Live-stream bitrate is a different issue. It controls how much data an encoder sends during a future live broadcast; it does not speed up the later upload of an already-recorded archive. For a future stream on a limited connection, run an upload-speed test and choose an encoder bitrate the connection can sustain. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the stream bitrate because disruptions can break a live stream. See YouTube’s encoder settings and streaming tips. YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings are relevant when preparing an upload file, not as a way to increase your internet speed.

Troubleshoot common upload problems
| What you see | What to check or do |
|---|---|
| Progress is slow but moving | Allow it to continue. File size, available bandwidth, upload traffic, and quality affect duration; an exact completion time cannot be inferred from those factors alone. |
| The upload stopped after a connection interruption | Within 24 hours, return to youtube.com/upload and choose the same file to continue the upload. |
| YouTube will not accept a long recording | Check whether the account is verified for uploads over 15 minutes. Also check that the file is within the maximum of 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. |
| The file exceeds 256 GB | Make a smaller copy using H.264 compression, preserve the original, and check the resulting file against both the size and duration limits. |
| No archive appears after a livestream | Look in YouTube Studio’s Live content and check whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. YouTube says a stream over 12 hours may not be captured; use a local recording if available. |
| You see an upload error not covered above | Match the error message against YouTube’s common uploading errors and follow the specific remedy shown for that error. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, rather than upload a completed archive, StreamNeo can loop those videos from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on; StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams from uploaded videos, not camera livestreams.
