Create a separate scheduled live stream event in YouTube Studio for each broadcast or content category. If you want the videos in a playlist to play continuously as a live broadcast, you also need an encoder or cloud service to send that video program to the event; creating or naming an event does not make YouTube play a playlist automatically.
First decide what “separate streams” means
A YouTube playlist is a collection of uploaded videos. A scheduled live stream is a distinct event with its own watch page, title, privacy setting, and schedule. YouTube Help explains how to schedule events and connect an encoder, but its instructions do not describe a built-in Studio control that turns a playlist into a live stream.

Schedule a separate event for each playlist category
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Start a scheduled event. Open Manage, then select Schedule stream.
- Create or reuse settings. Choose Create new for a distinct event. Choose Reuse settings only if the previous event’s setup is a suitable starting point; reusing settings copies prior metadata, settings, and stream key.
- Set event details. Give the event a title and description that accurately identify the content category. Choose its date and time, audience setting, and privacy deliberately. YouTube offers public, private, and unlisted options. Scheduled public streams may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can choose Notify me. YouTube Help
- Repeat for each distinct event. Make a separate event when the category, audience, timing, privacy, or event metadata needs to differ. Keep an operational mapping of playlist or category → scheduled event → encoder scene or media source → stream key. This is a planning aid, not a YouTube feature.
Send the intended playlist-like program to its event
If the videos need to run as the live feed, use an encoder workflow. YouTube supplies a stream URL and stream key for connecting an encoder to the event. YouTube Help describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address”; keep the key private, since it connects the encoder feed to your stream. Manage live stream settings
- In the encoder’s streaming settings, enter the stream URL and stream key shown for the intended scheduled event.
- Configure the encoder’s media source or playlist-like program so it outputs the videos and audio you want viewers to see. The YouTube setup pages explain how to connect an encoder, not how to automate a third-party playlist; consult the encoder’s own instructions for its media and looping controls.
- Start the encoder feed and wait for its preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- When the preview and event details are correct, select Go live in Live Control Room.
- Repeat with the appropriate event and stream settings for each separate program. If reusing settings, verify the event metadata and stream key before connecting the encoder.
For an encoder stream under 12 hours, YouTube says the stream is automatically archived after it ends. YouTube Help

Move viewers between events after a broadcast
YouTube Live Redirect can hand viewers off after a stream ends; it does not create a stream or play a playlist. YouTube’s stated eligibility requires the creator sending the redirect to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
