Yes, eligible creators based in India can enable Super Chat. But YouTube’s guidance does not offer a setting to choose an INR payout. Earnings are paid through AdSense for YouTube; Google says wire payouts are issued in USD or euros depending on the country, and a recipient bank may convert the funds to local currency. The precise payout currency for an individual Indian account is not established by that general guidance, so check the currency shown in your AdSense for YouTube Payments page and ask your bank about conversion and fees.
Enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio
- Check access: In YouTube Studio, open Earn and look for the Supers tab or card. India is listed as an available location, but location alone does not guarantee access.
- Meet the feature requirements: You must be at least 18, live in a location where Super Chat is available, meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements, and accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module or legacy Commerce Product Addendum. YouTube describes these feature-specific requirements separately from broader YouTube Partner Program thresholds.
- Accept the terms and switch on the feature: Follow the prompts in the Supers area of YouTube Studio to accept the applicable terms and enable Super Chat.
- Check each livestream’s settings: Enabling the feature does not override video-level restrictions. Super Chat is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos, and when live chat or comments are disabled. Check that the stream is public and eligible and that live chat is enabled.
YPP thresholds are not a guarantee of Super Chat access
YouTube’s monetization pages describe an expanded YPP entry tier of 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the past 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days for some features. The higher tier lists 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the past 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days for ad revenue and further monetization. These thresholds do not by themselves guarantee Super Chat: feature eligibility and channel or video status also matter. Check the requirements shown in your Studio account and YouTube’s current Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility and policies and monetization guidance.
Set up AdSense for YouTube and an Indian bank payment method
- In YouTube Studio, follow the prompts to create or link your AdSense for YouTube account. Complete the identity, address, and tax-information steps Google requests.
- Google permits only one AdSense or AdSense for YouTube account under the same payee name. If you already have one, use the account linked to that payee rather than creating another.
- In AdSense for YouTube, open Payments → Payments info and add the payment method available for your account. Google lists wire transfer for YouTube payments with an Indian payment address.
- Enter the bank information requested in your account. Google’s wire-transfer instructions identify the account holder name, bank account number, bank name, SWIFT code, and— for India—IFSC among the relevant details. Use the exact fields shown in your account, and ask your bank whether it accepts the incoming transfer and what charges or conversion process apply.

Can Google pay Super Chat earnings in rupees?
Do not assume you can select INR as your Google payment currency. Google’s guidance says, “Unfortunately, it’s not possible to change your payment currency.” Its wire-transfer FAQ says payouts are issued in USD or euros depending on country; the recipient bank may exchange the funds into local currency for deposit. That distinction matters: your bank may credit your account in rupees even when Google did not issue an INR-denominated payout.
The general wire-transfer guidance does not specify which payout currency applies to every India-based account. Check AdSense for YouTube → Payments → Payments info for the currency and reporting threshold shown for your account, then confirm the exchange rate and fees directly with your bank. YouTube’s threshold table ties the payment threshold to reporting currency, but the table reviewed here does not establish an INR threshold amount. Do not infer one by converting a threshold shown in another currency.
When YouTube pays Super Chat earnings
Super Chat earnings are paid through AdSense for YouTube on Google’s monthly payment cycle, provided the account meets the threshold, payment details are settled, and there are no payment holds.

If the balance has not reached the applicable threshold, it rolls over. Google may also adjust earnings for invalid traffic, copyright claims or disputes, certain ad campaign types, and taxes on US-viewer earnings. Understand what Super Chat is—and is not
Super Chat and Super Stickers are YouTube fan-funding features, not crowdfunding or donation tools. Creators remain responsible for applicable laws and should not promise a particular legal or tax treatment. If you live outside the United States, check with your local tax authority about any tax obligations; the available YouTube guidance does not establish India-specific tax advice. - No Supers card in Studio: Check your channel’s feature access, age and location eligibility, fan-funding requirements, and whether the applicable module or addendum has been accepted. A YPP subscriber or watch-time threshold alone does not prove that this specific feature is available.
- Super Chat is missing on a particular stream: Check whether the video is age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and confirm that live chat or comments are enabled.
- No payment has arrived: Check the Payments page for the reporting currency, threshold, payment details, and any holds. Confirm that details were settled by the 20th and allow for the bank-transfer processing window after Google issues payment.
- The bank received a different currency or deducted fees: Ask the bank how it converts incoming transfers, what exchange rate it applied, and whether it charged a fee. Google’s general guidance allows for local-currency conversion by the bank and does not identify the exact payout currency for every Indian account.
