Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To put a YouTube membership goal inside the video on a nonstop livestream, use a membership-goal overlay such as Streamlabs’ Sub Goal widget and add its URL to OBS as a Browser Source. YouTube’s documented native goals are for Super Chats and, on eligible vertical livestreams, gifts—not membership counts—so YouTube’s native goal display is not a substitute for an on-video membership counter.
The key 24/7 caveat: the overlay is a web source that may need checking or refreshing. The available documentation does not guarantee that its membership data stays current indefinitely without maintenance.
Choose where viewers should see the goal
| Approach | Where progress appears | What it counts |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube’s native goals | Live chat and Live Control Room | Super Chats; gifts on eligible vertical livestreams. YouTube’s documented goal feature does not list a Membership-count goal. |
| Streamlabs Sub Goal widget in OBS | Composited over the video, so viewers can see it in the broadcast picture | YouTube Members and Gifted Members, according to Streamlabs’ setup guide. |
YouTube says only one native goal can be active at a time; after it is reached, a new one can be started. Gift-goal availability varies by eligibility and rollout. See YouTube’s Goals help page. For the on-video counter, Streamlabs documents its Sub Goal widget and a workflow for adding the widget URL to OBS: Streamlabs Goals Widgets and How to Set up a Sub Goal Widget.
Set up the membership goal widget
- Open the Streamlabs Sub Goal widget settings. Enter a goal title, target amount, starting amount and end date. Select YouTube as the platform, then choose whether to count Members, Gifted Members or both.
- Configure the presentation and save. Choose a display style that fits the video, then save the widget. Streamlabs’ guide describes these settings; labels and layout may change, so follow the current widget interface if its wording differs.
- Copy the widget URL. The saved widget URL is the page OBS will display. Treat it like a private link if the widget settings make it capable of being changed by anyone who has the URL.
Make the label self-explanatory to a viewer arriving mid-stream. For example, “Channel members: 240 / 300” communicates progress; if gifted memberships count, say so in the label or nearby explanation. Keep the graphic legible at phone size and away from subtitles or essential documentary imagery.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Add the widget to OBS
- Open the scene used for the live output. In OBS, select the scene that is actually sent to YouTube, then add a Browser Source and paste the Streamlabs widget URL. OBS describes Browser Source as an embedded web-page source; its documentation is at OBS Browser Source.
- Set its canvas dimensions and placement. Set the source width and height to suit the overlay, then position and size it in the scene. Check the result at the stream’s intended resolution and at a reduced/mobile-size preview if available.
- Review source visibility and refresh behavior. OBS Browser Source controls include whether the source shuts down when hidden, whether it refreshes when its scene becomes active, and a manual cache-refresh action. For a scene that remains live continuously, keep the source present in the live scene. Avoid hiding and showing it as a routine reset unless you have verified the effect on the counter.
- Test privately before relying on it. Use an unlisted stream or another non-public rehearsal. Confirm that the right scene is live, the widget is readable, and the count and goal match the settings. Check again after a scene or source restart.
Plan for a goal that is reached or becomes stale
Streamlabs’ setup guide documents a target and end date, but the available documentation does not establish automatic rollover, indefinite persistence, or an uninterrupted membership-data refresh for a multi-day broadcast. Decide who is responsible for checking the goal and resetting or updating it, and when that person will do so. If the widget stops updating, use the Browser Source refresh controls or restart the source, then verify the public output and displayed count. Do not assume a refresh schedule or automatic reset that you have not confirmed in your own setup.
- Keep the widget in the scene that is actually on air.
- Inspect the public video and goal count periodically during continuous operation.
- After any source or scene restart, verify the count again.
- Define how the goal will be changed when its target is met or its end date passes.
- Keep the overlay away from subtitles and important picture details.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The goal is not visible in the YouTube video | The widget may be absent from the scene being broadcast, hidden, or positioned outside the visible canvas. | Confirm the live scene in OBS, show the Browser Source, and check its size and position. |
| The widget appears in OBS but not in the public stream | The output may be using a different scene or the source may be obscured in the live composition. | Inspect the actual live output and correct the scene or layer placement. |
| The displayed goal or starting count is wrong | Review the title, target, starting amount, selected platform and event types in the Streamlabs widget settings. | Correct the settings, save, then refresh the Browser Source and verify the result. |
| The count stops changing | The source or its external data may not have refreshed; continuous updating is not guaranteed by the cited documentation. | Refresh the Browser Source cache or restart the source, then check the public output. Continue monitoring rather than assuming it will stay current unattended. |
| A native YouTube goal is visible, but it does not count memberships | YouTube’s documented native goals cover Super Chats and eligible vertical-stream gifts, not membership counts. | Use a membership widget composited into the video if the goal must be an on-screen membership counter. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud; it does not run a camera feed or create a live, changing membership counter. For a goal that changes as memberships arrive, use the OBS-and-widget method above. A cloud stream can suit a prerecorded program, but an overlay embedded in an uploaded video will not update itself as the goal changes.
